October is a very popular month as the Ironman Triathlon World Championship comes to the Kailua-Kona Pier. The 2.4 mile open ocean swim begins and ends from the Pier in Kailua Kona Bay, just 3.5 miles from our condo. The 112 mile bike ride races around Kona before heading out to the Queen Ka’ahumanu Highway up to Hawi Town and back. The athletes hop off their bikes at the Pier and head out for a nice 26.2 mile marathon under the Hawaii Sun and finish near the Banyan Tree on Alii Drive. From White Sands Village, you can cheer on the athletes as they pass you 2 times, out and back on the marathon course. It’s a great day for spectators and athletes alike. Ironman fans also know the Ironman 70.3 “Honu” is held in June at Mauna Lani Resort, just a short 40 minute drive away.
Location is everything, and we think White Sands Village is the perfect vacation spot. Directly across Alli Drive is the beautiful White Sands Beach, aka La Aloa Beach Park, aka Magic Sands Beach. Boogie Board, Snorkel, play Volleyball or just hang out and relax. Just 1 mile south is some of the best snorkeling on the Island at Kahalu’u State Park. View hundreds of species of tropical fish and graceful sea turtles in protected, calm waters. Or, learn to surf from the perfect point break with expert instructors. 2 miles south is Keauhou Bay, home to the Kona Country Club and 36 holes of Championship Golf. Both courses are open to the public. Keauhou Bay is also home to the Sheraton Resort, which hosts nightly swims and dives with giant Manta Rays, Keauhou Shopping Center which includes KTA SuperMarket, Sam Choy’s and Tropics Bar/Restaraunts and Movie Theatres. Plus a lot more!
Just 3.5 miles north is the picturesque village of Kailua Kona. Take a long walk, an easy drive or ride the Trolley for just $2. The Trolley passes directly in front of White Sands Village on Alii Drive and travels between Keauhou and Kailua Kona. The village, home to Kona Brewing Company, Huggo’s on the Rocks, Humpy’s and Lava Java, also offers many choices for dining, dancing, happy hours, Luau’s, shopping, island activities and an awesome farmers market. Our travel tips binder will highlight our personal favorites!
The Big Island of Hawaii is so much more than fantastic beaches. Here, you’re just an island drive away from the North Kohala Coast and Polulu Valley, the upcountry town of Waimea and Parker Ranch, the incredible Waipio Valley, Zip Line at Akaka and Umauma Falls, sunsets and the incredible night sky offered at Mauna Kea Observatories, Ancient Hawaiian Petroglyphs, Black Sand Beaches, yes…a SeaHorse Farm, the Ancient Village at Puuhonua o Honaunau National Historical Park and Two Steps Snorkeling next door, Volcano’s National Park, Swim with Spinner Dolphins amongst colorful coral reefs at Kealakekua Bay & Captain Cook Monument, go coffee tasting or visit Hilo Town.
We hope you enjoy your stay on The Big Island!

Our family of six stayed for 5 nights here. The location was perfect - quick access to down town Kona, directly across from Magic Sands Beach, 15 minutes from Walmart and about an hour from the North Kona coast. The lanai was our favorite part of the condo - the view of the ocean was beautiful and we spent most of our time in the condo on the lanai. The condo has everything you would need - all cooking equipment for making meals at home, beach chairs and toys, shampoo and conditioner - it was fully stocked. Doug was very responsive to any needs. We would definitely stay here again! The lanai was

In all ways an excellent two bedroom condo for the island experience! Just steps away from a beautiful beach, great food and situated to explore the amazing island and its 11 Eco systems. Rent a jeep and have an amazing vacation. We will be back and rent this very well apportioned condo. It had everything we needed, chairs, towels, kitchen utensils, boogie boards, fins/ masks and an amazing view to watch the sun rise and set!

The pictures of this place don’t do it justice. Very comfortable and decorated beautifully. The grounds of the complex are well maintained and the condo is right across the street from a fun little beach. I would definitely stay here again.

The condo is spotless. Doug and Mary have everything that we need for our 4-night stay. The 2 bedrooms are perfect for the 2 of us. Our condo is in the back of the building so we didn’t have to hear the road noise (definitely a plus for us). The property is across from Magic Sands Beach.
We love our stay and felt well rested during our trip. Thank you for providing the yoga mat and the Trigger Points Roller. I used the yoga mat every morning on the patio and my partner took advantage of the trigger points roller as well.

This is a great property. Walking distance to Magic Sands Beach (which is a little bitty beach, but my kids’ favorite bc of the waves). It was super quiet and peaceful. Everything we needed was there…even boogie boards, coolers, and bug spray. Doug was very responsive when the wi-fi went out and had someone out the next day to work on it. The birds’ chorus at sunrise and sunset was pretty cool to witness.

We had a great stay at White Sands Village at Magic Sands beach. What a great value this condo is! The covered reserved parking spot right next to the elevator is clutch!! The kitchen was fully stocked and love that condiments and spices are there for everyone’s use. Plenty of extra everything like trash bags, towels, chairs, beach goodies, laundry detergent etc. Water pressure in the showers were decent too which I appreciated and we had plenty of hot water. Pool and hot tub were crowded at times, empty at times, which was nice. The pool is very deep though so just a note for littles, there is a small three foot section however then it’s 4-8 feet from there, which my 11yo loved. Magic Sands was not swimmable while we were there due to a southern swell which brought in HUGE waves so it was fun to watch the locals bodyboard like pros and the lifeguards have no reservations about telling visitors to stay out of the water. The one day the waves subsided we still found the beach to be rocky so we went elsewhere for swimming. The shops and restaurants of Kona are a short drive away, all within 5-10 mins. Convenient to the harbors where all the tours go from and the airport. We’d definitely stay again!! Mahalo Nui Loa!

We loved our stay at Kona Condo! The condo is beautiful, and well-appointed with everything a vacationer needs, including beach toys. It's in a great location across from Magic Sands Beach. We also appreciated Doug's thoughtful touches, like cold beverages in the fridge. Highly recommend.

The location is great! The property is very well kept with a lot of beautiful flowers all around the property. The pool and hot tub were a nice change from the ocean and quiet. The walk to Magic Sands beach was easy and having the Magics Grill right next to it, although expensive, was very nice. Had lunch there a couple times and split a burger which was very good. The beach got a bit crowded but was still easy to find a great spot. Those waves coming in was a sight to see! Snorkeling there was fantastic too. Lots of beautiful fish.
The condo was very clean and well kept and stocked with everything you would need. We did some cooking there one night so that worked out well. The beds were very comfortable and was quiet all night which is a nice change from a hotel and all the slamming doors and people talking in the hallways. Showers, living room, lanai, and washer and dryer were great. Parking was perfect which is right next to the elevator. The birds in the area were quite entertaining especially at sunset.
Tried taking the trolley to town to do some shopping but waited and waited and it never came so we took a Lyft which was only $12. Didn't want to pay for parking in town which can run $9 - $15hr which is insane. Lyft was great though both ways. If we visit Kona again we'll definitely look this place up! Love Hawaii!
Mahalo!

Excellent location, across the street from a small beach and a few minutes away from a great snorkeling location. The condo is comfortable, clean, and had everything we needed for a day at the beach available for our use with convenient parking. Pretty much perfect in every way! We hope to stay again if we find ourselves in Kona again.
