We loved the layout and the view was nice. The coqui serenade was actually very fun. The only issue we had was the 5 per load of laundry wasn’t listed in the property description so we weren’t prepared for that but we were able to get cash for that. The kitchen is very well equipped, the bed was comfy and the pillows were great! I always worry about pillows when I can’t travel with my own pillow, I really appreciated the pillows. Thank you!
With the exception of the birds, it was very quiet. A beautiful view and fully stocked kitchen.
The location so close to the airport was great! We had a wonderful stay and would stay here again should we get to return.
We enjoyed our stay at this rental, one of four that make up the Bear Place Guest House. If everyone were there at once it might get a little loud. As others mention, there are frogs and roosters, so bring earplugs. Didn’t keep us from getting excellent sleep. As the house is on a steep hill a ways from town, there’s really no place to go for a walk. We picked up groceries in town and used the kitchen to make meals.
We appreciated the amenities offered, making us feel like we were home. Great location away from the hustle and bustle but still close to Kona. Beautiful view from the lanai.
This is a wonderful property. My only complaint is that the roosters start crowing at 4 AM and are very loud. I am not sure if they are wild roosters or part of the property, but there is really no sleeping after they start.

Big Island is very beautiful country
The place was located in a safe and cozy secluded area in Kona, Hawaii. It was clean and spacious. Every accommodation was provided that we needed from the kitchen to the bathroom. The hospitality is unmatched! Thank you for a lovely stay in Hawaii!
The suite was very easy to find after arriving close to midnight. Nannette left very detailed directions! The suite was very clean and well stacked with all the necessities. Lovely sunsets off the lanai! We would recommend this suite.
The Orchid suite was clean and the pictures on the listing were an accurate representation of the space. It made for a great home base and spot to come back after a day out adventuring. While I didn't utilize the kitchen, I could appreciate that there were basic starter supplies for coffee including creamer pods, salt, pepper, etc.
The house is nestled on the hillside above Kona, making it a good retreat away from the city. Everything was still within a 15-20 minute drive along a very easy to navigate route. The property also had off street parking with enough room for all guests. The downside to it's location was more in the multiple roosters that seem to be nearby. If you are a light sleeper but not an early riser, you'll want to make sure you have earplugs or some other form of white noise.
I also loved that the check out instructions were super short instead of a chore list before leaving. It was great to just gather myself stuff and make sure the place was locked up.
Overall the space was good, especially for the cost and I would recommend it to others.
Wonderful place to stay!!! Loved having a full kitchen. We bought delicious island fruit and made smoothies with the blender the host provided 😁
A private home for you on the island - away from the tourist area and the resorts. Perfect if you don't like resorts. Big veranda, ample room, full kitchen, easy parking. Car is non-negotiable. Highly recommended. You get a queen bed and as needed an additional full bed (not a pull-out sofa)
This studio was perfect for our family of 3. It is tucked away in a beautiful neighborhood on a hill with a view of the water, but only 10 minutes from the airport. We appreciated that beach towels and beach chairs were provided - we used them daily. It was clean and well-maintained, including a full kitchen with plenty of dishes and cooking utensils. We loved the large lanai, and our toddler spent lots of time chasing geckos out there! Nanette was a great host, and easy to communicate with. Highly recommend for your stay in Kona!
