We loved our stay. There was a communication issue at check in, but otherwise fantastic as always.
We have been coming to Kanaloa at Kona for many years and last stayed in this unit in 2010. The location of this unit is great. Every night we watched the boats as they gathered together for the giant manta ray snorkel. And then in the morning, we would walk out front to see the maintenance dept. with tools, etc. left outside all the time. Sloppy. The unit itself has not been updated in years. Windows & doors need repair, which would help in keeping out the roaches. The furniture should be more tropical and less bulky. The kitchen needs updating. Bathrooms have been updated which was nice. Kanaloa at Kona is our favorite location on the island so we will be back.
This was our second booking at Kanaloa at Kona (different unit) so we thought we knew what to expect. The unit description mentioned upgrades-great! Well…sadly unit 2901 is in very poor condition from broken sliding screens to broken louvered windows to broken bedroom window blinds to broken tiles on the lanai. In addition the fridge is rusting, taps are coming apart, kitchen cupboards are sticky and smelly with hinges that no longer work. The kitchen also lacked some basic items that one would expect. The only sign of any upgrade was the flatscreen TV. Most everything else was old and very tired.
Although an ocean front unit is great and the grounds are beautiful, this unit should not be rented until a number of repairs, replacements and a deep cleaning happen.
We enjoyed our stay. We had plenty of space. The bed was very comfortable. The pool area is very nice with a lot of covered space. It didn't affect our stay but the kitchen and much of the furniture are in serious need of upgrades . Both are very old and overdue for replacement.
Great amenities and excellent view
Location was great. Views were amazing and swimming pool was great. Property landscaping and facilities were awesome.
Description doesn’t say that AC was extra cost.
Room had a strange murky smell. Toilet was leaking in one bathroom (which got fixed the next day). Appliances were outdated. Not much stocks for detergent, soaps, trash bags. The staff was good and courteous including the security.

There were a couple of small electrical issues but the maintenance staff was very helpful and professional. The office staff were also friendly and helpful.
The lanai was not as private as other places but overall was very enjoyable.
The property was very beautiful - loved the oceanside pool!
The property is incredibly quiet and relaxed. The staff couldn't have been more responsive to any of our requests or accommodating to our needs.
Beautiful location very nice layout comfortable bed. Well appointed kitchen pots pens dishwasher even liquid for the dishes.Plenty of plates., nice Terrasse overlooking the ocean and sunset. 3 pools with hot tubs chaiselounges and well maintained gardens. We liked it very much.
