This cabin is very private but very close to the park. The kitchen is fully equipped with the exception of a dishwasher. There is a nice wood burning stove that quickly heats up the cabin on cool nights. Plenty of wood is available on site for the fire. The bathroom has a claw foot tub with a fabulous rain shower. It has 2 bedrooms with comfortable beds and plenty of storage for clothes. The internet was ok for the 2 of us. We plan on returning to this cabin in the future.

This is perfect place to stay near Volcano National Park. This is a secluded, piece of paradise that had everything we needed. The beds were .comfortable and the shower was amazing! 6 stars!

It's not super fancy, and it is in the most idilic location, completely surrounded by rainforest. You expect to see gnomes - or I guess menehune since it's Hawaii - outside. Definitely recommend.

We LOVED this cottage in volcano. It was at the dead end of a road in the rain forest. Absolutely loved it. So cute, clean and nice inside. My favorite part was the deck. Could of sat there all day listening to the birds. Ate at a great Thai place nearby and the location was minutes from the National Park. Couldn't have been a better location. We loved it! Wished we could have stayed longer.

A taste of old Hawaii. Nicely secluded for privacy but a short walk to Volcano town and close to Volcano National Park. We only stayed 2 nights. I would have loved to stay longer. Thank you for a great cottage. We will be back.

Overall excellent experience.Only problems I had were related to parking & hot water. It is very difficult to park if you want to park under the carport. Driveway is steep and I had trouble backing up or backing down. I ended up just parking at the bottom of the drive. We could not get hot water in the bathroom sink no matter how long we let it run. We figured out that if we ran hot water in kitchen or bathroom tub, we would finally get hot water to the sink tap.

The property was in a stunning location, next to nature and was as described on the listing. The host left tea and coffee, which was much appreciated! The overall communication from the host couldve been quicker - as we had an issue when we checked in and couldn’t get hold of them until the next morning. But apart from that, I would definitely recommend staying in this beautiful apartment!

Loved our stay at Volcano Cottage and would like to book it again soon. We stayed for 5 days but it still wasn't enough time. This cottage has the best shower I've ever experienced and the heated towel racks were an unexpected bonus. Our first night, we stoked the wood stove, made tea and watched 'Best in Show'. I loved the huge DVD collection; it was nice to watch a movie with the whole family again and the stove and heaters kept the whole place warm and cozy. Thank you for renting your cottage to us.

This is a lovely property set in a beautiful area. I loved hearing all the sounds of nature in the morning! Also, the shower is seriously one of the best I have ever experienced! Some areas that need improvement: the pots and pans are Teflon and are completely scratched up making them in fact unsafe to use. The curtains are horrible – they don’t really even cover the full windows and it’s a struggle to feel like you can get privacy. They need to be replaced. The rugs don’t have any matting underneath them so you feel like you could slip and fall at any time. Washing gloves were not provided, which made it hard to clean the dishes. other than that – a great property with a very responsive manager.

This cabin has the benefit of being both off the beaten path and still close to simple amenities like a store where you can pick up goods and a sandwich, and some eateries and art stores. It's just minutes from Hawai'i Volcanoes National Park. The whole place was clean, well-apportioned, handsome, and comfortable. Sitting on the lanai surrounded for hours by birdsong, with a hot beverage (it was November) and a journal made my whole trip. Thanks for the great place to stay!

We had a delightful 9-night stay in Kaluhe Cottage. We love HVNP & have visited Volcano village 11 years, renting 5 different VRBO’s. Kaluhe stands up to or exceeds the features of all the others, yet it’s the least costly. A great value! Located at the end of a private road just off Volcano’s main drag, it’s totally quiet; we never heard any traffic. Plus it’s less than 10 minutes to HVNP’s entrance & Visitors’ Center. We’d have a leisurely breakfast, be at the park’s parking lots before anyone else, & hike the most popular trails almost alone! Kaluhe is also less than 5 minutes to the Cooper Center; we could bop over to the Sunday Farmers’ Market when it opened at 6:30am, get some great fruit, bread, ready-made meals, & grab bargains in the used bookstore before everything sold out. The cottage’s kitchen is fully equipped. We love to prepare our own meals using locally-sourced food, so we drive to Hilo our 1st morning & buy enough to last the week. We always hit the Hilo Farmers’ Market, Papa’a Palaoa Bakery, The Locavore Store, Big Island Candies, & the KTA Super Store (just past the airport) which has a great seafood counter. While the cottage isn’t large, it’s layout makes it seem so. A small 2nd bedroom was great for us to store our luggage & layout all our hiking clothes & gear. The 2 lanai provide sheltered spots to step outside to enjoy a cup of coffee, meal, or book while surrounded by the yard’s lush tropical vegetation. We look forward to returning next year!

We absolutely loved the house! Everything was so cozy and perfect. We enjoyed putting a puzzle together, watching DVDs, and cooking some meals there. The rain head on the shower was so relaxing. The location was to the back of the property offering plenty of privacy, yet still close enough to walk to the lodge, general store, and the Thursday market. My mom and I had so much fun!
