Lovely cottage exactly as pictured in a tropical setting. Gated and right off the main road so no driving in the dark in the jungle. Close to VNP. Heater available for those chilly nights. Welcoming water in refrigerator, coffee pods and menus of the local restaurants to view. We stayed 5 nights and never ate at the same place. Extra blankets, towels and plenty of kitchen housewares. We cooked in one evening. The hosts live next door and were friendly and helpful.
Recommend this stay if desiring somewhere close to the volcano national park. It was a cute cottage in the rainforest. The couple owner met us to welcome our stay.

Elaine and Carter are very friendly and have so much information on the local area, they had prepared everything prior to your arrival and made our stay so enjoyable.

The location is ideal to access Volcanoes National Park and great dining options when we wanted to eat out. We woke to sunshine and bird song each day, and the pleasant peep of insects at night. Comfortable beds, up to date kitchen and bath. Incredible value!

We had a wonderful and memorable stay. Elaine and Carter were wonderful to meet, and were great to communicate with beforehand. The location is really a special spot, we loved hearing the tree frogs at night, and it was so easy to get into Volcano village to explore the market and to go the to national park for the day. Thank you for having us and for providing such a wonderful place.

The WiFi allowed us to use streaming entertainment in our devices but we welcomed the sounds of rain through the forest over hot tea (stocked in the cottage) and conversation. Check in was a breeze and we had no issues at all through the entire stay. When we needed a sewing kit, the cottage hosts were gracious and accommodating to come right over with one! We’ll be back on our next visit to Volcano.

Clean and exactly as pictured, except on arrival we found that the heater was not functioning and the backup heat source was a small space heater. It was not enough for the square footage and our infant, as we had very cold weather during our stay. The space heater was a hazard for a crawling child. We were prepared for cool rainy weather outdoors with long pats, sweaters, rain gear, etc. It’s not as if we only had shorts & tank tops. If I had known the heater was broken I would have booked elsewhere. It seemed like the heater had been broken for a while, and I was annoyed that we weren’t informed.

This was a wonderful spot for exploring Volcano NP. It is beautiful and relaxing, and perfect for a couple. The hosts were very welcoming and accommodating. Couldn’t have asked for a better stay.
Fern Cottage was adorable & the perfect location to use as home base while exploring Volcano Nat’l Park! Highly recommend!!!

Truly wonderful stay. House was very cute, clean, and in a wonderful location. Communication with the owner was very easy. Would 10/10 stay here again.
My family and I stayed back in September. The perfect place to stay on the Volcano area of the Island. Only an 8-minute drive. Elaine and Carter are awesome and very hospitable hosts. Elaine checked in with us prior to our arrival and was very communicative. They waited and welcomed us when we arrived. The cottage itself is cozy and has its own garage entrance. I highly recommend this place for anyone looking for a place to stay in Volcano. Elaine has many years of experience working in the hospitality industry.
This was a lovely cottage and place to stay while visiting the park. The owners were most helpful especially as we arrived after dark. Owners provided every comfort one could think of to enhance our two day stay right down to providing slippers and lovely Hawaiian music to listen to after a long day in the park. We highly recommenbd stayin there.
I enjoyed my stay at the cottage! It is a comfortable cottage with a beautiful yard. Nice location for exploring the volcano and you can access Hilo as well.
The property is beautiful and the owners go above and beyond to provide a welcoming place. They thought of every thing we could have needed to make ourselves at home. No need for the AC because the windows open provide a cool breeze and even needed the heater at night in September. You can see the stars from the back yard at night when the sky is clear.
We had a very comfortable stay at Fern cottage. Elaine and Carter are very helpful and warm hosts. This place is well located.
