Welcoming host, great location for a lot of exploring, well appointed with great kitchen set up and beach gear. We loved hanging out on the lanai listening to the rain!
Karla provided everything that we would need during our stay. It was so quiet and peaceful and felt just like home. The room was very clean and we were also given a nice walk through upon arrival. We will definitely be booking again and would highly recommend.
Karla was great, and we had everything needed for a wonderful trip.
My wife and I stayed there for 11 nights and loved this place. Karla was a great host, very responsive, attentive to details, and quick in communication. The house had everything we needed, and even more - from full kitchen, extra pillows and blankets, to beach chairs and a cooler, snorkeling gear, and even yoga mats! The place is exceptionally clean and cozy, secluded and peaceful, and... what else would you need for a perfect vacation?! Thank you, Karla, for a great place to stay!
This was a perfect place. The owner was very thoughtful and very friendly. I would definitely recommend this to anyone.
As described: secluded, a much- needed respite; chocolates helped! Coqui’s night calls make me sleep though some might need ear plugs. I spent most evenings under the lanai’s bugless tent (green geckos were allowed:-) and beautiful silver pheqsant(!), Bed, couch, HAMMOCK, shower are big plusses. FYI: a short drive from Hilo past 8am is clear; 3:30 onward competes with schoolbus traffic. [Complete the serenity: Wander to 4th Ave. midway same 15- address block at the Labryinth and continue to oceanside Haena cliff overviews.]Maybe note on house directions that 7th Ave.’s street sign is Hinahina…?Mahalo, Karla and Joell ( heads up on water usage another thoughtful act.) couch, showerActually, a short drive from Hilo past 8am; 3:30 onward competes with schoolbus traffic.Maybe note on directions that 7th Ave.’s street sign is Hinahina…?
The property was clean and quiet. We enjoyed the sounds of the coqui frogs and didn’t mind the chickens. It would get stuffy during the day, but it cooled down at night. The fans pretty much blocked out any outside noise. The owner communicated promptly and we had no issues while there. We would definitely stay here again.
This was a wonderful small cottage that provided what we needed for our stay. We did run into a few issues with fire ants out on the patio table but you have to expect that in such a nature filled environment. The beach accessories were fantastic to have available. Not much air movement outside so some outside fans would be very helpful on hot days! We would definitely stay here again!
I couldn’t ask for a better home and it was just great
The hosts have thought of everything you will need and would want during your stay in this restful guesthouse.
We weren’t sure we would like this and were very pleasantly surprised. The owner was very nice and very helpful where to go. She had lots of added things to make the place great. We were able to use a cooler and snorkeling gear to enjoy a day at the beach with a picnic lunch. We would recommend this place and happily stay here again. Only thing is you have to have a car as it was back in a neighborhood. This wasn’t a problem for us.
We have nearby family so the location was perfect. Karla keeps everything just right. Beautiful surroundings and everything we needed for a nice beach day. Highly recommend!
Karla was a great host. She met us when we arrived and showed is around. The studio was the perfect place to help us relax and unwind. We really enjoyed eating on the lanai. Would definitely stay again.
This place was very comfortable and private. Everything was perfect. stayed there during the hurricane and felt very safe there. We would stay there again if available.
We only stayed for 3 nights, but Karla's place was in the perfect location for exploring the East Coast of the Big Island and Volcanoes National Park. Karla met us when we arrived and introduced us to her cottage. Her pride of ownership shows both in talking with her and also in all the little things about the cottage that made staying here very convenient and comfortable. She has a notebook that she prepared with menus and descriptions of all the local restaurants, locations of grocery stores, and especially all the beaches, most of which we would not have found without the guidance in her notebook. My wife particularly enjoyed laying in the hammock on the lanai. We would highly recommend Karla's cottage when staying on the big Island.
This is one of the sweetest places we have ever stayed. You can feel like you’re living as a local on the big island 🏝️
Nice, quiet. The comfort of the bed was way to firm. But overall a great quiet place to stay.
Great little house next to the owner's house. Not a lot of space but cozy. Owner is easy to reach and answers questions quickly. Warm welcome. However the location is not that convenient as it is a good 25 min from Hilo, and the roosters and dogs of the neighborhood are very noisy at night...
The cabin is perfect! You’ll find everything you’ll need for your stay plus Karla is a very nice and kind host.
Property was excellan except it was not handicap accessable. Very rough walking in to stairs up to the porch. Owner very friendly and accomadation.
Great for 2 people if more the couch has to be pulled out for bed and is in the way if left open.
Best place I have ever stayed at!! I stayed there with my parents for a week. I feel very warmly welcomed by our host. I wish I can stay there again this year!
We loved this place and hope to come back one day. The owners have thought of everything; beach chairs, towels, umbrella and cooler plus toiletries, and even some fresh eggs. Very private and peaceful (the sound machine helped cover up the noise from the chickens next door). Very clean and nicely decorated.
This place was incredibly charming. True home away from home! We loved to sit at the table on the huge lanai and swinging on the hammock in the evening and listening to the soothing songs of coque frogs after a long day of explorong the island. Karla, the owner, was very accommodating and generous. She welcomed us with a gift of wine and macademia nuts! She provided ample information about the surrounding area and even accompanied us to the safe place where we could see fissure 8 at work expanding the island. The room was very cozy and supplied us with all we could ever need for our stay (and then some). All in all, if ever in Hawaii again, we will definitely be staying here.
