This home is a slice of heaven. Everything from the view to the beds to the amazing staff at HBR to the thoughtful, artistic details of the space… we enjoyed every second.
Our stay was wonderful! The condo and resort grounds are gorgeous. Everything was exactly as pictured. The view from the lanai is breathtaking. Definitely recommend staying here.
Kauai is the most beautiful place and Steve’s place is absolutely gorgeous views. The beds were.very comfy and Steve always responded quickly. I definitely plan on coming back here. I saw so many rainbows from the balcony. Truly amazing . The sunset the sky was pink and purple and his furniture is so authentic
Wanted an authentic Hawaiin getaway and this place did not disappoint. With rainbows, waterfalls, sea turtles, dolphins and more. This place at HBR was absolutely gorgeous. Just an incredible experience. A very special place. Mahalo!
We are a family of four, with two teenagers. The loft upstairs was a perfect space for them to sleep and to have their own area. The views will be missed, great space for living and dining areas. What was also a nice surprise midweek, was a delivery of fresh bedsheets and towels.
I don’t know how to describe this place other than “dreamy” and I know it sounds cliche, but that is the feeling my family and I felt upon arriving at unit 8232. We thought that by splitting our time up between the north and south shores on Kauai would be a good experience for everyone to see all of the island but if it were up to me, I would have just stayed put at this beautiful location. Every morning that we woke up, my wife and I would have coffee on the lanai and take in the serene beauty of our view of Hanalei Bay and Bali Hai. It just seemed like a dream looking out at the perfection of creation like that, that we would ask each other if we were in fact in a dream. My daughter and niece felt the same way and we all agree that it is now the best place with a view to die for that we have ever stayed before! The hosts place was very clean, very accommodating and very relaxing and we enjoyed it soooo much! The interior had a really nice Polynesian atmosphere with Japanese influences and it made the stay feel all the more immersing with the surrounding beauty. Thank you Steve for such a wonderful experience. We will be back!Brandon

This was our third stay in this condo. In 2007, 2017 and now 2025. it’s a wonderful place. Clean, comfortable and the views can’t be beat. There are gas grills on the property and the kitchen is fully stocked. New appliances although I never figured out how to use the dishwasher, my fault. There was a problem getting the bedroom tv going but the owner and the resort both responded immediately. All in all, a great vacation stay.
This property was the absolute best! It has everything you would need and the location is perfect. Our host was extremely helpful with any of our needs. Would definitely stay there again
Excellent one bedroom unit with full kitchen, and loft with two other beds if traveling with children or teenagers. Lovely decor. Unit was equipped with everything you’d want. Loved the unobstructed view, privacy, and the property. Would highly recommend!
The resort and the home are terrific. We would definitely come again.

We stayed for 8 nights in November. Upon checking in with the resort front desk we were informed the building would be having a new roof installed during our stay & that there was nothing that could be done. We followed up again in the days to follow and they once again just reiterated they were “sorry”. The resort was, per the VRBO instructions who we were supposed to interact with. We received a letter from the resort reiterating nothing could be done & work was scheduled well in advance. The property owner failed to disclose this. Our experience included nails failing from the ceiling, dirt and debris falling from the ceiling and it was so exhausting/frustrating we checked out two days early. Imagine this all with a 1 year old trying to nap. The host only refunded us for those final two nights, which was disappointing given what was a truly absurd situation. My learning, stay away, go get a nice hotel with a kitchenette next time.

The property was great.. Great view and very peaceful. We had wonderful time exploring the island. Very convenient to the majority of the island. I would say the bathroom needs some remodeling otherwise the property was perfect for our us. We would stay there again.
Wonderful location, the best resort and views on Kauai without a doubt. Will be back for sure

When we arrived to the condo there was a very strong musty smell even though the condo appeared very clean. We discovered the wall behind the master bed was full of water damage from about halfway up the wall down to the floor. The wall was soft and peeling with black discoloration behind the paint. We notified Steve immediately and provided photos of the damage. The manager of Hanalei Bay came out to look at the wall and confirmed it was a wall drain that was leaking.
Because this is a private rental the resort can not move you to a new unit if anything like this happens. Steve was quick to send an extra pair of sheets for the air mattress but was not responsive after that and was not open to any reimbursement. We were unable to use the master bedroom due to the water damage and had to sleep on an air mattress in the living room. Both my husband and I ended up getting sick in this unit.
The manager said he was very surprised the water damage had not been reported already. Hopefully Steve will take care of this issue as quickly as possible. Until it is fixed, I would avoid this unit.
This was such an amazing place. The view of the mountains and ocean were spectacular and the loft was such a great addition for the kiddos!
We would definitely stay here again.
This property is even more beautiful in person. Everything about the condo was accurately portrayed. It had everything we needed and then some. It’s spacious, designed well and clean. There was plenty of beach gear to use as well. The views from this place are unmatched. I also loved that the property was part of a resort with access to restaurants and a nice pool. The beach was shared with the 1 Hotel Hanalei Bay so felt like a little private beach. The only downside to this place is the steep walk up and down to the beach. This was not a big deal for us. Also, they have a golf cart you can call to take you to and from the beach. I say book without reservation! I would definitely stay here again.

Hanalei bay resort is amazing for a trip with kids. This condo has great view, clean, nice appliances, a lot of toys for kids. Would rent again
Hanalei Bay resort is great, Just Pick A Different Unit To Stay In.
We traveled with family of 5 and carry-on only luggage with 2 changes of clothes for a week in Kauai, specifically searching for units with a washer/dryer inside. Upon check-in we saw a sign on washer saying it was not working, and also found out the resort doesn't wash your bath towels. So we spent 4 hours up the hill at a coin-op with the owner not providing any alternative or relief.
Also what kind of luxury rental only gives you 3 rolls of toilet paper and 3 dishwasher pods?
"We only provide the initial supply. If you need more, you can pick up some at the front desk for a small fee I believe". Why wouldn't the owner just tell us the day before about the washer, or stock the room appropriately for a long stay? Boggles my mind
Hanalei Bay Resort is such a great location in Princeville, with amazing views over the bay and easy access to the beach below. We had one issue during our stay and Steve was very quick to respond. The condo is well equipped and plenty of space for the family, with a lot of beach equipment in the closet. The resort itself offers good dining options and activities.
