What a beautiful paradise so close to Volcano National Park! After a bit of a bumpy ride you find yourself in a tastefully decorated, very clean little house in the rainforest. Falling asleep to the sound of the frogs and waking up to the sounds of birds was wonderful. Lorena was great on communication and answering any questions in a timely manner. The kitchen was well furnished with dishes. The only downside being the handle to the microwave was broken. Being so close to the park guaranteed full days of exploring & hiking. The hot tub at the end of the day was wonderful. We would not hesitate to return.
Great location for the national park and very comfortable and beautiful area. Has everything needed for you stay in volcano village.
Lovely house in the most perfect location.
Hale Sweet Hale was the perfect little getaway for our family of four. We loved the twin beds for our children. The hot tub was welcomed after a long day of hiking in Hawaii Volcanos National Park. We felt like we were in the tropics with all the beautiful flowers and foliage around us! We enjoyed our stay!
Fabulous stay at this cute cabin! Beautiful lanai and the accommodations were perfect for our family of 4. We so enjoyed walking in the area and exploring the national park and Sunday farmer's market. Would definitely stay here again.
The cabin was beautiful with great attention taken to every detail and the tropical garden setting was unforgettable. We did not want to leave.
We had a fantastic stay at this charming property! The wood-burning fireplace added such a cozy touch, and the vibe and decoration throughout the space were just amazing -- so thoughtful and inviting. The beds were very comfortable, and we loved the sense of privacy the home offered. The hot tub was a highlight and was perfect for relaxing under the stars. Even the little road leading to the property was cute and added to the charm. The host was welcoming and made us feel right at home. We would absolutely stay here again!
Aloha, what can I say a dream stay! Absolutely beautiful property! Loved the dreamy backyard and surroundings! The cabin had all the amenities you needed for your stay. The hot tub was a plus especially after a long hike! Thank you. The only thing I would suggest is the print out the wifi passwords very hard to read so couldn’t use. Other than that great stay. I would like to back again! Mahalo the Leakes
We loved the house, it was just as pictured and it felt like we were staying in a rainforest. We were pleasantly surprised by how well maintained the property was give the dampness in this part of the island. The only negative, as mentioned by others, is the security camera that's directed right at the hut tub. We didn't notice this at first and were surprised to see it. I see that the owner mentioned it's not monitored but it's not clear if it's not recording? It would be such an easy problem to fix by moving the camera, I'm shocked it hasn't been addresses give all the negative feedback.

What a perfect get away. The cabin is situated on a rural grass road, surrounded by trees, birds singing all day and frogs peeping at night. It feels like you are in the middle of the jungle, yet it’s only minutes away from Volcano National Park. The cabin is picturesque both inside and out. The hot tub was an added bonus after a day of exploring the park.
This house is perfect for a quiet rainforest getaway. The location provides easy access to the national park as well as Hilo, and other island activities. The house is well-kept, clean, and provided all the amenities we needed. I would definitely love to come back and stay here again!
We stayed at Hale Sweet Hale over Easter weekend to hike VNP. Tucked in the woods it is adorable, very clean, has all the amenities you need to be comfortable and is perfectly located for visiting the volcano. Lorena, the host, was amazing to deal with and easy to get in touch with if we needed anything during our stay. I highly recommend her property if you are looking for quick access to VNP. We would definitely stay again,
If you are looking for a quiet and peaceful place to stay in Volcano, look no further! We loved having the wood stove to take the chill off the cool mornings. The cabin was spotlessly clean and we received helpful communication from the host prior to our stay. The kitchen was well equipped with everything we needed. Beds were cozy and warm. Great to be so close to Volcanos National Park! Thank you for a lovely stay!
We fell in love with Hale Sweet Hale as soon as we pulled in. It’s very private and well equipped with any amenities you might need. The hot tub was a nice perk after a long day of exploring. The location was so convenient for accessing volcano national park and we timed it just right and were able to see Kīlauea erupting! We managed to get up there a few times as we were only a few minutes away. Perfect!
This cute little cabin exceeded our expectations! It was clean, spacious and had lovely little touches like fresh flowers. It was perfectly located for dinner at the Volcano house and a day of exploring the park. It’s a bit tricky to find after dark, but we really enjoyed our stay.
This cabin was the perfect hub for our trip. Great, comfortable setting. Very private, very clean, full kitchen for breakfasts.
Quiet, rainforest surroundings, comfy home, clean and welcoming. Loved the honeycreepers chirping at first light.
I stay in many B&Bs across the country and can literally say this was the absolute best. We all loved the place from the moment we arrived. It is very welcoming with many thoughtful touches. The location was absolutely perfect as it was a bit out of town and very private, but not too far. The woodstove was perfect on cool evenings and they even provided firestarter and kindling. I would definitely stay here again and it will be my go to place on volcano. Loved it loved it. You will not regret staying at this B&B.
What a wonderful spot! The cabin is adorable with all the wooden cabin-y touches that you want - while still feeling clean, fresh and bright. The large lanai is wonderful for enjoying the beautiful rain forest. And the hot tub is an extra lovely touch. The host is wonderful too. Couldn’t ask for a better stay in Volcano.
We recently had a two-night stay at Hale Sweet Hale and found the cabin to be lovely and perfect as our home base for visiting Volcanoes National Park and Volcano village. The cabin was clean, warm, and well-appointed. The hot tub was in great, working condition. The communication with and directions from the host were excellent. We highly recommend this vacation property and would not hesitate renting it again if we come back to the area.
Get together with best friends
Honestly, the hostesses communication was flawless and the property was even better than the listing indicated. My wife and i had the time of our lives. The location felt very secluded and private and the weather was exactly what we needed. Proximity to VNP meant we could hike all day and then relax in the hot tub. Definitely would recommend.
We really loved this home. It is so peaceful there. There are other houses nearby, but it feels as if you're in the middle of an uninhabited rainforest. We watched birds and listened to the frogs in the backyard, and it really was such a nice place to relax at the end of our days. The hot tub was wonderful in the evenings. The kitchen was well-equipped for cooking, and the entire house was clean and comfortable (including the beds). Communication with the host was quick and easy. Just as a tip, an extra power strip or two could be useful in some rooms as the outlets aren't always in the most ideal locations. The heated towel rack and dehumidifier were wonderful for drying wet items, and the washer and dryer were such a great feature. Some reviewers mentioned the road to the house being a bit rough. I can assure you any rental car should be fine traveling the short road. It is a gravel type road, but it is not deeply rutted or overly bumpy at all. The house is so perfectly located for going to Volcanoes National Park (it's like 5 minutes away), and is a great place to retire at the end of each day. We really couldn't find anything bad about this house...it is one of our favorite vacation rentals that we have ever stayed in (and we've stayed in quite a few). We would stay here again without hesitation. In fact, if we ever come back to the Volcano area, we won't even look for another place to stay...we'll just book this place immediately. It's that good!
You feel as though you are in a hidden paradise starting right off from the beautiful jungle road leading to the cabin. Private little oasis in truth and very relaxing. My family loved the back deck and spent much of our time at the cabin there. The wood fire burner was lovely in the early morning while it was cooler. My daughter loved the hottub and the backyard. All in all was a lovely place to stay while in Volcano and would highly recommend to others.
Peaceful sanctuary where we enjoyed down time and loved our stay. So organized and clean.
Lovely place tucked back in the vibrant green. This was the perfect place to end the day after exploring the island, very comfortable with every amenity that you need. We were able to pick up some food from the local market for breakfast, and we ate at Kilauea Lodge and Restaurant both nights we were there, it was so good.
The hot tub was perfect for the two of us to relax some sore muscles after hiking at the park that is basically across the street from the neighborhood.
I loved the rustic, homey feeling of the cabin. It was the perfect size and configuration. And the bed was very comfortable too.
My wife and I enjoyed the time we spent at this cabin. Spent most of our time in Volcano hiking in the national park, and it was located ideally for that plan. Even though it is not completely isolated, it feel as though it is, and has is peacefully quiet, which is something we missed when later visiting other parts of the state.
As other reviews mentioned, the only thing to be aware of is the very last few parts of the road right near the site are in pretty bad shape. Was very concerned whenever we had to drive our rental Nissan Altima over these areas. Anything with 4X4 would probably be fine.
The house was immaculately clean, had all the desired amenities, and the location couldn’t be beat for quick access to scenic highways and Volcanoes National Park! The owner was responsive, friendly, and helpful! We would absolutely stay here again!
This is such a cute little house with everything you could need! It is a great place to come back to after a day of hiking and enjoying Volcanoes National Park!
The property is in a very nice area, and it was pretty clean. I was thankful for all the little extras, like coffee, spices and detergent to wash our clothes. There were also umbrellas for those rainy days. It rained every day we were there, but most of the time it was a light rain. the funny thing is that if you drove 1/2-hour west-towards Kona, it was dry, sunny and warm. The beach-Punu'lu is only 1/2h away. it's worth the visit. overall, a great experience. oh! the volcano park is only 5min. away.
