This is a nice, large property with good accomodations. Located on the beach and overlooking the ocean. Lots to do on the North Shore including the nearby town of Haleiwa with lots of food trucks, beaches, snorkling, turtle watching, surfing. Very friendly people in town and the caretakers were great! Price was very competitive for a 30-day stay.
This is a town-home type residence with stairs to the first floor (2 large bedrooms) and stairs to the second floor (1 large primary and 1 extra-large primary). There is plenty of space for a large family or several families. The kitchen is well-equipped and has lots of beach equipment. We didn't mind the geckos, etc. roaming around because we wanted to stay in a Hawaiian home in a quiet area. The residence is a duplex and the neighbors were friendly. We did not see them until the last few days of our 10-day stay.
Our favorite local eating included Spaghettini's and Farm-to-Barn. Both were outdoor seating only.
We drove every day to various points on the entire island and the drive was typically 45-60 minutes which was great for us!
Waking up to the view and sound of the ocean was nice. We did not use the beach and opted for the pool and hot tub instead of the beach.
Beach and ocean just outside your backyard... it was lovely!
House was roomy for our 8 member family and had everything we needed for fun family meals together on the deck!
Haleiwa was 5 min. away and close to big surfing beaches and fun/interesting places like Waimea Valley and Pirates Cove...
Manager was very friendly. Brought us fresh picked papaya!
We had an amazing time here at, Hale Makamaka! This property is in the perfect location, directly on the beach and right next to Haleiwa. The pool table and ping pong table offered entertainment and kept our 4 teens busy whilst we hung out at the house during our down time.
While there was no air conditioning, the pool offers a way to cool down and was surprisingly refreshing. There are ceiling fans in all rooms as well as rotating fans which allowed for comfortable sleeping conditions at night. The provided coolers, beach chairs, beach umbrellas, beach towels, boogie boards, water shoes and snorkel gear for guests to use made going to the beach easy. The owners of the house were fabulous to correspond with and the caretaker, Noah, was great too.
This house was perfect for our group and very comfortable. The caretakers are great and very helpful. The game room is a big plus.
Can’t say enough about how great our stay was. The owners were very accommodating, they even brought by additional items for the baby and just to make sure we were good.
If I go back to Oahu I’ll definitely be staying here again…5 stars 😊🙌!

The house was exactly as shown in the photos, large, comfortable, very fully equipped, facing the sea, but with old furniture and bedding, pillows, as well as the bathrooms (but towels were great!!!). I also didn't quite understand that the house was attached with another house (same house divided, though neighbors were very nice)... But despite all that we had a great experience. Also, all the prices for better houses on Oahu were very high...I think it was the best option and at the end we were all very pleased! I am very grateful with the owners, you have a lovely place!
Nice to stay here, really recommend this place.
This property was perfect for our extended family group of 10. Plenty of space so that we did not feel cramped. Everything was as expected and the beach, pool, and house location were perfect! The only minor issue was that there was no AC which made for a slightly warm house in the late afternoon, even with the trade winds blowing. This made it a little difficult for my Dad (74 yrs old) and stepmom to cool down after activities during the day. The bedrooms all had fans, though, and none of us felt hot as we slept.
Ashley, Noah, and Isla were amazing! Anything we needed or any issue we had, they were quick to help us. My Dad grew up in the area, and they were more than happy to answer all his questions about how the area had changed. They were very gracious, and never rushed any conversation we had with them. My daughter wanted to nanny for them so that she could stay and hang out with Isla. They also had great suggestions for things to do or where to find items we might be looking for.
This was a memorable family trip that allowed my Dad to share where he grew up with his entire family! We would definitely be happy to stay here again!
Mahalo nui loa Hale Makamaka group!
The house is exactly as pictured. It was clean, spacious and supplied all that was needed. Visitors really just need personal items and clothes. We spent most evenings on the deck in the listing photo. The pool and hot tub were used a lot and the game room had a constant flow of our kids playing pool and ping pong. The kitchen was stocked with all utensils and cook ware needed. Extra supplies (trash bags, paper towels, TP, etc...) was provided, We needed nothing additional for a 10 day stay. Fans on and windows open are necessary as there is no A/C unit in the home. It was not an issue for our July stay.
When staying here, do yourself the pleasure to meet Joe and Vicki (care takers) and Noah and Ashley (owners). They are the nicest, kindest individuals we could have been lucky enough to be next door to.. Overall, everyone we came across on Oahu was kind. It was contagious. Voted the best family vacation we have taken so far.
