10 out of 10 however we were expecting a normal air conditioning unit in house and but it was tiny portable units in bedrooms only which made house hot because when you left house you had to shut windows which made it extremely hot in house because there was no circulation. But other than that this house was amazing the pool was amazing the hot tub was amazing the host and property manager were both great as well.
The house was extremely clean and the home owner provided great communication during our stay. Zero complaints and highly recommend!
Check-in was smooth with no issues. Easy to find property, lockbox, and layout. House had everything we needed. Ran into a smoke alarm issue, but the management team was on it and had it taken care of later the same day. Great location to stage out of for all your Volcano/Hilo area activities. Close to Pahoa Fresh Fish and Two Ladies Kitchen for mochi!
This home was in a lovely, private community which provided us the privacy and space that made our vacation wonderful. There were so many thoughtful extras for making the beach easy, that it really made our time easy and less stressful. The private pool was well maintained and a huge part of making our stay comfortable and relaxing. It was easy distance to the volcanoes and close to stores and grocery when we needed them. We would definitely stay here again and loved our home away from home in Hawaii!
The property was a dream come true. Spacious home, a lot of the necessities were provided, the kids loved being in the pool while the adults enjoyed the sounds of the waves crashing against the cliff. The breeze from the ocean was amazing. The host was always quick to respond to all our questions and made us feel VERY welcomed. We will definitely rent this home for our next trip back to the Big Island.

We used this property for a couple's getaway to Hawaii and had an amazing time. The pool and hot tub were wonderful, very warm- and it was beautiful to take a night swim and look up at all of the stars in the clear sky. The bedrooms were spacious and the kitchen was fully outfitted for all of our needs. Communication and check-in/check-out were easy. The property is a little ways away from Hilo proper so you will need a car and can anticipate some traffic. However, it was worth it for us to have a peaceful and private home base to just relax and watch the ocean waves. Highly recommend!
Great place to get away from the crowds on the Kona side of the Island with easy access to good local food/businesses and Volcanoes National Park. Definitely looking forward to staying here again.
This place was the perfect landing zone for our trip to the National Park. Amazing sunrise and sunset views with sea turtles playing right out front. We really appreciated the well stoked hallway closet…the use of the cooler was so appreciated. Our group of 6 collectively agree this place is amazing and we’d come back again
The property is absolutely beautiful. The scenery is spectacular. The reservation was extremely easy. The managers were very communicative. Very easy to talk to neighborhood is absolutely beautiful. Neighbors are wonderful and gave us excellent places to eat.
Property was located right on the ocean front. Loved hearing the crash of the waves and just enjoying the back yard/pool. The area was nice and we walked to a couple of different park areas that were nice. The layout of the house was perfect but the water pressure throughout the house was a little hit or miss. I know most of the houses around are on catchment systems so not a real big deal..

Overall we enjoyed our stay and the property provided us pool with a view. The home could use some updates.
Great home in a great location.
We had a great stay at the Hale Kai Nalu. Easy to communicate with the property owner ahead of time and the property was as promised. Also appreciated the list of things-to-do/see from the owner while in town. Can't believe how close the property was to the ocean, and the on-site pool was a nice luxury. We were mainly visiting the Big Island for Volcanoes National Park, and the property's location was great for us to do just that, as well as take in some additional local sights. Highly recommend.

The home was exactly as described. Our family loved our stay in the home. Listening to the waves crashing on the rocks was so peaceful. You can’t beat the views! The home was well appointed with everything you could need in the kitchen. The property felt very home-like and safe.
We were so happy that the house was available again this year. The house is very comfortable with a kitchen ready to go for socializing and cooking meals. Great pool. Easy drive to Pahoa Market, restaurants and downtown Hilo. The neighborhood itself remains a favorite for us. I’ve stayed here in this house at least 9-10 times since 2011. Terry and Amber are kind and get 5 stars for communication. It does feel just like home, except for the amazing ocean views and breezes.

We had a great stay! We enjoyed the pool and hot tub and the surf sounds were a great lullaby for afternoon naps. Bedrooms were comfortable and the individual A/C units kept them cool for sleeping.
The property managers were very responsive to our questions. Our largest negative was that we didn't have more time (poor planning on our part!).
This was a great property. Everything was as advertised. Well stocked to support enjoying the island. Location was excellent for exploring the east side of the island. Kids loved the pool and the hot tub was an added bonus. Would book this again if we return to the big island!

House is exactly as described. Very comfortable beds, and other furniture. Love the ocean view and the hot tub and pool were awesome at the end of a long day of touring. House was clean. The only suggestion is for them to replace some of the floor fans that are just about worn out. Those are needed as there is no AC in the main part of the house. The AC in the bedrooms worked great. Very nice stay!
The house was great for our family trip. Our kids loved the pool and hot tub and the view of the ocean was awesome. The house was situated in a nice quiet area and was only a short drive to Hilo. The host passed along some great recommendations that we were very appreciative of. We would definitely recommend and we would definitely stay again.
Stayed here for a week with my husband, our two kids and their partners. Spectacular cliff view of the ocean from the lava rocks. My oldest proposed to his girlfriend out on the lava rocks. Perfect spot! Saw sea turtles, dolphins and whales in late December, early January. 😁
Hot tub is new and works great, pool in good shape and home well stocked with towels, beach towels, shampoo, conditioner, body wash and soap detergent for the washer. Furniture was comfortable… sofas and bed.
Saw previous reviews… we had no trouble with the shower and finding the right temp. The refrigerator, stove, dishwasher, washer and dryer and coffee maker all worked well for us. Also, Hilo is on the rainy side of the island making it quiet humid. The A/C units in the bedrooms worked really well and we adjusted to the warm temps in the main living areas after a day or so after trying to figure out which windows and fans to run for a cross breeze.
I highly recommend a stay here if you are looking for a non-touristy location. We found the 30 minute drive to Hilo quiet manageable and enjoyed visiting Volcanoes National Park.
Would definitely return. Amazing location!!! And if you get a chance, the little park at the end of the street also has amazing views.
