This rental is in a nice location on the golf course with a great view & pool. The condition of the home fell short of what I’ve come to expect when renting high-end vacation properties. The house definitely needs some maintenance and care to meet the standards expected at this price point. A little attention to detail – both in cleanliness and upkeep would go a long way.This home needs air conditioning!

We stayed at this property for 12 nights in June 2025 with a group of 7 (5 adults and 2 kids), and had a fantastic time. We usually prefer vacation rentals over resorts for the flexibility, space, and private pool—and this place delivered on all fronts.The location is excellent—central to restaurants, golf, beaches, and a short drive to Lihue, Costco, and other island activities. In an excellent private neighborhood.Property is spacious and comfortably accommodated our group.Kathy, the owner, was responsive and easy to communicate with.The kitchen was recently remodeled and was well-equipped for cooking meals at home. Note to Kathy: You may want to look into replacing some of the non-stick pans.Photos accurately reflect the property, so there were no surprisesThe pool was a fantastic place to relax after a day of exploring or beach time.The decor is a bit older however everything was clean. Fans and the windows could benefit from a deep cleaning.The barbecue worked great and came with a full propane tank, but the heat deflectors are rusted through and could use replacement.Other items to note:The home backs onto a golf course, and the lawn mowers can start early (5am). It didn’t bother us much as we kept windows closed at night.Kauai’s wild chickens and roosters are everywhere—they’re part of the island charm but do crow at all hours. No louder at this property vs others.Note no A/C but multiple fans provided and were enough to keep us cool.
We loved the house layout and amenities, but summer guests should request extra fans. Some ceiling fans only work on low, and the portable fans are old, dusty, and ineffective, making the first night especially muggy. New fans were provided, but not until after 6 PM the following day. Communication was also difficult with the owner without a response. We had to contact the housekeeper twice before getting assistance. We would have given 5 stars, but the house needs some TLC in the cooling department.
Had another great stay in this house! Our group had plenty of space, used the kitchen for some great meals, and enjoyed several of the fantastic beaches…..and of course some golf. We hope to visit again!
The kitchen was well stocked. I really appreciating the stainless steel pots and pans and actual utensils that make a kitchen usable for real cooking. The master bedroom mattress was terrible and super old. It had a really gross mattress topper and under that the actual mattress had large marks where bodies have been laying on it. Overall, it felt like a vacation rental that was being bled dry.
We totally enjoyed our stay in this house for 10 days, close to everything in Poipu, restaurants, beaches, shops. Everyone was extremely happy and definitely would want to come back again!! Excellent house. Absolutely no complaints. What a beautiful, happy experience. Thank you so much.
This property surpassed our expectations. We had a wonderful experience, all the way from check-in to exit. The home is beautiful and well-kept. All the essentials that you could ask for and the location, well, it just can't be beat. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and very much look forward to returning.
The property was very nice in a great location and gave us a great experience of Poipu and the surrounding area.
This property was perfect for our family of 8, 4 adults and 4 children. We stayed for 2 weeks. We love this area as it is walking distance to shops and Poipu beach. The lanai is great for sunrises! The pool was perfect. The house does not have ac but plenty of windows and fans. The kitchen is well equipped and we had everything we needed to cook almost all meals at home we highly recommend this home!
We loved this house. Quiet neighborhood located close to the beach, restaurants, and shopping. The BBQ & pool made it fun to cook dinner at the house. Each bedroom had it's own bathroom, plus a bonus shower and toilet in the laundry area. Plenty of room for our group of 6. We'd definitely stay here again.
We stayed at this property from March 23-April 3. The house was as pictured and described. The size was great for my husband and I, our daughter and two grandkids, 9 and 14. It was an older property that was, for the most part, in good condition & had everything we needed for our 12-day stay.
Now, the downside. We arrived and immediately began to haul our bags to the upstairs bedroom. When my husband went to use the master bathroom, it looked like an entire NYC sewer had backed up in the toilet. Gross.
We also found that the dishwasher hadn’t been working correctly and all the dishes in the cupboards, glasses and silverware had to be rewashed by hand before we could use them. My husband pulled & cleaned the filter but we still ended up washing everything by hand for all 12 days.
Also, the handle broke on one of the smaller bathroom’s toilet a few days before we left and was pretty much unusable.
But the house and pool were nice and we would have been ok with those issues if we would have had enough sleep. But between the wild roosters that crowed about18 hours/day under all of our windows (which had to be left open with no A/C), the golf course heavy maintenance equipment noise that started at sunrise and the ever-present neighborhood landscaping crews that worked under the windows EXTREMELY early most mornings, none of us ever had a decent night’s sleep the whole time we were there. Exhaustion took a big toll on our vacation. Wouldn’t stay there again because of it.
The house was amazing and had plenty of room for our family of 8. The kitchen was well-supplied, the beds were comfortable and we thoroughly enjoyed the lanai and pool, even on the rainy days. The house is close to great restaurants and beaches.
Would definitely recommend and hope to stay again!
Great house with a nice pool in the perfect location. Super quiet neighborhood and we really appreciated the fact that the house came with lots of extras like towels, pool toys, beach chairs, and condiments, spices, tin foil, plastic bags, etc. the BBQ was really nice and we utilized it a lot. We also really enjoyed the outside eating area next to the pool.
House was clean, comfortable, and the perfect space for our Vacation.

Absolutely beautiful property in a quiet neighborhood on a golf course and close to everything. The pool was a perfect size, larger than it looked in the photos. Air conditioning would have been nice but we managed with the many fans that were provided. I would come back to Kauai and rent this property again in an instant!
My family and I loved staying in this house. It’s in the perfect location to explore the east, south and west of the island. And the pool is perfect for those days when you prefer to release. Thank you Kathy for allowing us to share your lovely home.

The small pool was the perfect size/depth for a quick dip; the location was centrally located to all event/activity sites; any questions/concerns (including a misbehaving faucet) we had were quickly addressed; and we did appreciate and make use of the provided fans, especially while sleeping, which helped with the lack of A/C.
The biggest downside was just the overpowering moth ball odor in the closets — as we didn’t want to risk our fancy attire absorbing the smell, we had to get a little creative in where to hang it up.
Overall, we had a pleasant stay and would recommend this property.

This is the second time we have stayed at Halekai and we can’t wIt to come back. The pool, accommodations, kitchen, everything is well stocked and welcoming. Although there is no AC, there r many fans that help to keep the air moving and cool. The pool is the highlight of every morning and evening! The kids and adults loved it equally! Mahalo, Kathy!
This home is beautiful with plenty of space for our family. We had so much fun grilling, playing in the pool, and even walking to the beach for a nightly sunset swim at Kiahuna.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. The property provided plenty of room for our group of six that included 2 kids, ages 7 & 9, and one teenager. When we were nor out exploring the island, the pool provided entertainment and a great way to cool off and keep the kids occupied. The house had everything we needed for an enjoyable and relaxing time in Kauai. The location was perfect, close to Poipu Beach, shopping, dining, and it was easy getting around the island. We would stay here again.
Exactly what we needed! Beautiful home, views, and space was perfect for our family. We golfed, walked to beach, little fish coffee house and small shops. ( Starbucks daily was 7 min walk). We spent every morning and evening on the patio having coffee in the AM and playing cards at night. Peaceful quiet neighborhood gave us the chance to disconnect. Space was amazing for 6 adults and enjoyed barbecue by the pool. Explored the whole island and we will be back and stay here again!
