As other reviews mention, it's on the south of the island. It was ideal for us, as Kona and Hilo were both in reach. Great place!
This was our second time staying at Myra's and it was as memorable as the first. The home is beautiful and clean with all accommodations. The view is breath taking and the property is very secluded and quiet. Perfect distance between both Kona and Hilo.
Myra's Blue Hawaii House is absolutely delightful! We were so pleased with our host's communication. She gave us suggestions of places to visit and places to eat. She was considerate and so easy to work with. Her place is an absolutely marvelous getaway location. It was located very close to the South tip where we were able to experience black and green sand beaches as well as marvelous sunsets on the south point. The home is stocked with towels and beach supplies as well as heaters if needed and an electric fireplace built into the family room tv stand. The home is very spacious with wonderful thought put into the decor. We loved that there was a binder filled with information about activities. The lanai was completely amazing for space and WHAT A VIEW!!! We cannot say enough positive things about this property and owner! We highly recommend Myra's home for a Hawaii stay!!! Ww also highly recommend the Shaka Guide App to tour the Island!
This was a last minute rental and we are grateful for the accommodation. The host was so communicative and supportive as our family recently experienced a great loss to our family. Check in was easy, communication was timely and responsive. The home had everything we needed for our family of 5 and even extras that we didnt expect but appreciated. Thank you very much for sharing your home with us, would definitely stay again!
We truly appreciated everything! The house was clean, offered great privacy, and had stunning sunset views. The communication with the owner was fantastic!
The home was in a serene location, making our stay even better. We absolutely loved our time here, and for our future visits to Big Island, we’ll definitely look to see if your home is available.
Myra’s Blue house was the perfect get away to celebrate our anniversary. The property is very private and well maintained. The long scenic drives to our destinations were filled with so many hidden gems, from road side stands to local farmers markets and off road hiking. Myra’s Blue House is a great ending to days filled with adventure.
Oceanview is a very small town with not a ton to offer, so definitely recommend stocking up at Costco/Walmart/Target in Kona before coming out here. But once you are here, the place is great. It's a wonderful property nesteled on a hill in Oceanview community. The house is very clean and modern, and very well equipped with towels, beach andbathroom, as well as other beach stuff for use. Spending evenings on the patio watching the sunset was spectacular.
Location itself is rather close to the South Point Park, Punalu'u beach (and bakery), and not terribly far from volcano national park. It's not terribly far from Kona, so we even did a few Kona outings during our stay here.
We are checking out this morning. Had a wonderful time. Thanks Myra and Dan for the use of your lovely property here and thanks for the wonderful suggestions!
Between stays at Disney Aulani over on O’ahu and Hilton Waikoloa Village on our honeymoon, my Wife and I stayed at Blue House. Having totally never been to Hawaii, we wanted to experience the state in a few different ways.
Blue House was a great base for exploring the Big Island’s rural south region and accessing the East side of the Island. From here, we drove to / hiked to Papakōlea Beach, and took drives up the East Coast to Akaka Falls State Park and Hawai’i Volcanoes State Park. We were fortunate that Myra recommended we stop at Punalu’u Bake Shop, their pastries and coffee were fantastic.
One of my favorite aspects of Blue House was the deck facing the Pacific Ocean and the Grill out back. Enjoying the Pacific breeze, grilling burgers and kebabs, and having a Kona Big Wave in the evenings was peak relaxation after all our adventures. The sunsets are amazing from the property, and watching showers blow by out on the Pacific is pretty cool.
I recommend, assuming if you’re booking a stay here you’re probably going to be flying in and renting a car, stock up in Kailua-Kona at Walmart before driving down to Ocean View. The small markets in Ocean View are great for fish, meat, produce, things you need fresh, etc but have somewhat limited variety in things like coffee, snacks, etc.
Thanks for the great stay and the memories Myra and Dan!
The house was great! Beautiful deck, and all the eqipmebr/accessories needed. Convenient to Hawaii Volcanoes NP (ww spent 2 days there) and other area sites. Good to get to to see some "real" Hawaii away from the resorts.
Nice house, comfortable, secure environment, great appliances to cook at home, comfortable beds and great tips provided on activities to do in the area by the owners! Highly recommended!
