The Promise Tree provided wonderful space for our family to spend time together while giving everyone their own space. The property has the feel of a lived in family home with all of the extras (beach chairs and umbrellas, coolers, water and yard toys, indoor and outdoor dishes) that you don’t often find at a VRBO. The onsite pool and ripe papayas were a huge hit with the kids. The location was perfect for heading down to the beaches and shopping or up to a little town and coffee farms. Be sure to look up when onsite! The wood beams and supports have beautiful carvings in them.
The property was lovely, comfortable, secure, an oasis with an amazing view. We will be back! Hosts were very responsive and gracious.
This was our second family trip (15 folks) at Promise Tree, and it was wonderful. Our first was in 2022. Both times it proved the perfect family retreat. Great property and excellent hosts.
Loved all the bungalows for our three families to stay in with one living room lanai to father and eat around. The pool was warm. Had everything we needed for a beach day. Felt safe and the decor was very Hawaiian themed. Even the house beams!
We had an amazing time at Promise Tree. New family memories were made at this amazing property. The beautiful property had all of the amenities anyone could ask for and more. We can’t wait to visit again, and will definitely book there again.
We had a delightful week long visit with our extended family at the Promise Tree. the Property is absolutely beautiful with incredible gardens and a panoramic view of the Kona coastline. The various sleeping accomodations were perfect for our extended family and the five children in our group had a wonderful time in the pool, playing cornhole, roasting samores over the firepit, and looking for geckos and coqui frogs. The hosts were incredibly gracious and helpful during our stay, and are very generous with the amenities they provide their guests. Our entire family had a wonderful and memorable experience at the Promise Tree and we would highly recommend it for any extended family gathering.
The place is truly amazing. Clean, comfortable for whole family and excellent views from house. The owners have well planned and provide most if not everything you will need while on island (beach supplies etc). Such a wonderful property. Highly recommend.
Perfect gathering place for families
Promise Tree is a beautiful compound. It’s rich with nature and has gorgeous views and clean and comfortable living spaces. Our group of 9 —five adults and four kids ages 6-10 — had a fabulous time swimming in the pool, grilling and eating in the open lanai, playing yard games, enjoying the birds and lizards, taking early morning walking through the large property, and soaking in glorious sunsets over the ocean. Promise Tree is even more beautiful and comfortable than the pictures show. Perfect location, etc. highly recommend. Also Esther, the host was very communicative and gave us a tour at the beginning which was super helpful. Be sure to check out Hāpuna Beach and Kua Bay Beach when you stay .
Eight adults and five kids. Couldn’t have been a better vacation!The kids chose to sleep together in their own “apartment”. They started every morning in the pool. Continued through the day in the ocean and then back in the pool before bed.The property is huge and perfectly kept. Lots of beach stuff. Umbrellas, chairs, wagon and toys.The Promise Tree is close Kailua Village, beaches, restaurants and shops.Esther and Josh were amazing hosts. We would definitely want to come back.
All of our family loved staying at The Promise Tree! The pool was perfect for a range of swimming skills, and the huge lanai, with a gorgeous view of sky and sea and stars (and all its seating and outdoor dining areas) was far beyond what we expected! Our hosts Esther and Josh were incredibly responsive and ery generous. We would highly recommend this property to any family group wanting to make the best of the Big Island visit!
This is a wonderful property! It is in a beautiful area and quiet neighborhood. Quick access to the shopping areas and restaurants. The views are spectacular and we even saw a few whales spouting. The buildings are separated but it has an outdoor living room/kitchen area by the pool where you can gather. The hosts are very friendly and responsive. We loved spending time here!!
Weather, location and facilities were superb. Everyone had their own personal space and common area was great meeting and eating area for everyone. Beyond our expectations 5 star plus.
Had the best stay here with our large family for our wedding. I would highly recommend. The Host Ester was the best. Made sure we had everything we needed and more. Location perfect close to anything in Kona. House was stocked with everything you would think of. Thank you!!
This is going to be hard to summarize because the last 2+ years of working with Esther and Josh (E&J) have been amazing. We booked The Promise Tree for IRONMAN week and due to schedule issues with the race in 2023, E&J were VERY flexible in allowing us to move our reservation to 2024. E&J's communication made this experience so pleasant and easy. Very quick response time and they always answered my question. Thank you E for entertaining ALL of my emails.

The complex is everything AND more than the pictures show. Each area felt like its own ‘apartment’ with plenty of privacy and space. Each area has its own clean and spacious bathroom along with ceiling fans to keep the area cool. The beds were all very comfortable; we moved a queen size mattress from the upstairs larger apartment to the surfer shack for the stay. All the rooms are clean and well decorated. The property is gorgeous. Most of our Ohana spent plenty of time in the pool area and at the main-table in the common area. There is a sprawling front yard which is not shown in the photos that we wish we had more time and purpose to enjoy. The location is safe and a little secluded which added to the feeling of paradise. What more can I say about The Promise Tree! Communication was amazing, the property was beyond amazing, and we have a lifetime of memories.
This property worked very well for our group. We especially enjoyed the pool with two small children to entertain. They loved it.
A bigger dining table to accommodate all 13 of us would have been appreciated. Maybe something with fold up leaves.

All 9 of us adults agree that Esther's Promise Tree Home was the PERFECT spot for our family (3 generations) of 14 to gather. Each family had their "own space"which was a game changer. There are plenty of places to gather as a large group- the dining lanai, outdoor living room, pool & fire pit. Esther lives right next door and is a wonderful hostess- full of beach recommendations, restaurants ideas etc. Kona is not far nor is Costco if you are feeding a crowd. We all have wonderful memories of our week spent here. It is LOVELY. GO!!
There were 14 of us and we had plenty of room. The house was perfect, For our liking. The host was wonderful and the place came well stocked and the highly recommended it. 10 to 15 minutes away from everything you need. Shopping grocery gas souvenir stores restaurant,all That you would ever need.
Our stay at this beautiful home in Hawaii was absolutely unforgettable. The property offers breathtaking views that make every moment feel like a postcard come to life. One of the highlights was the outdoor movie setup, complete with a bar and pool, which provided endless entertainment and relaxation for our group.
Each family in our group appreciated the individual cottages, allowing everyone to enjoy their own space while still being together. This thoughtful arrangement made our stay even more enjoyable and comfortable.

The open air design of this estate was very cool and felt like a genuine Hawaiian experience! I was a little skeptical of no AC, but the elevation supported cool and breezy evenings and good sleeping weather! The outdoor living room and dining area made for a great gathering place for our family. We loved being a bit out of town while only being a short drive to shopping and restaurants. The pool and yard are beautiful and well kept!!

From the moment we arrived, we were welcomed with open arms. Working with the property manager was a delight, marked by excellent communication and thoughtful guidance. The house was impeccably prepared with everything we needed—chairs, towels, even sun hats were provided.
We were guided to the best beaches and felt enveloped in the natural beauty and healing energy of the land. Sleeping surrounded by the sounds of frogs and birds felt like a deep immersion in nature. My children loved swimming in the pool and playing tag and hide and seek in the expansive open land.

The view is stunning. The layout of the property was perfect for each couple to have private space with a great outdoor common area for hanging out by the pool and eating meals.

Our 3 adult kids came with their family (4 grands and one on the way. ) Plenty of room for us all especially when breaks were needed for anything. Close to beaches,shops and more. Perfect spot for us all. Even helicopter tours not far and very exciting.
