Miraculously spared in the great wildfire of 2023, the property is intact, thoroughly redone, and even blessed by local Hawaiian clergy. Lahaina Roads is a quiet ocean front resort that sits on the north end of Lahaina, at the edge of an oasis spared by the 2023 fire. It is steps to the Gateway and Cannery malls, Coco Deck, Mala, Honu, Star Noodle, and Aloha Mixed Plate restaurants, and the world famous "Old Lahaina Luau" - all left intact and operating since the fire. There are several other dining options, including a food truck cluster and bar inside air conditioned Cannery mall.
Look for Lahaina Flyover videos on youtube by Jesse G Wald to have you an idea how Lahaina is rebuilding. Over 1,000 houses are being permitted, more than 500 houses are being rebuilt and over 150 have already been completed in January 2026. The fire did not go far north beyond our building. There are still several somewhat overgrown empty lots, some with mobile homes, mostly closer to the town centre of Lahaina..
Baby (sand) beach is a 10 minute walk, protected by a reef, with views of Lanai, Ka'anapali beach and Molokai in the background. You can also walk one mile north on the walkway along the ocean to the canoe club and the beach at Ka'anapali, browse the shops or restaurants at Whaler's Village, snorkel at Black Rock, or just walk on the sand beach, none of these were affected by the fire.
Safeway and CVS are steps away in the Cannery mall, Foodland and Walgreen's are across the highway in Gateway mall, and Island grocery is up on the hill behind Gateway plaza. Starbucks is in the Cannery mall and across the highway near Walgreen's. Costco, WalMart and Whole Foods are in Kahului where the airport is.
The remediation after the fire prompted us to do a floor to ceiling refresh of the condo: After extensive fire decontamination, the unit has been repainted, with much new furniture, appliances and bathroom. We have changed the set up 2 guests only, ir is our vacation home and there are just the two of us.
The property has also completed a significant refresh after the fire, with new pool furniture and BBQ area. This unit has been significantly redone in 2025 including new appliances. It is fully furnished including a full kitchen with dishwasher, washer, dryer, internet & WiFi.
The unit is well equipped for one couple, in a small, quiet, ocean front condo building just on the edge of Lahaina - Maui’s sunniest part of the island. It’s not suited for partying. The condo has one comfortable Queen bed in the bedroom.
You can hang out by the pool on the ocean, walk down the street to the restaurants and supermarkets, or visit all that Maui has to offer.
Lahaina Roads Condos
This adult-oriented oceanfront Maui rental resort (not suitable for partying) sits right at the water’s edge and enjoys breathtaking views of Lanai and Molokai and remarkable sunsets in the evenings. In the winter and early spring, you can whale watch right from your lanai. There are turtles within 50 feet of the shore on most days, right in front of the oceanfront swimming pool. Built when ocean front property was still available, it is scrupulously maintained by the resident manager.
The property offers a beautiful, mosaic decorated, heated, oceanfront, private pool, library and barbeque area for your enjoyment, and the famous Ka’anapali Beach is just minutes away.

There is plenty to do in and around Maui. There are countless cafes, restaurants, and shops here to please all of your senses. The largest Banyan tree in North America is right downtown, by Lahaina main port, a 20 min. walk. About 1/3 was lost during the fire, the remaining tree is flourishing.
Take excursions from Mala ramp, Ka'anapali beaches, even Lahaina harbour, or Ma'alalea harbour by the ocean centre on the way to Kahului.
The Kana’apali beach, boardwalk, and hotels are just 1.2 miles the north of the condominium.
Lahaina Cannery Mall is enclosed, air conditioned, and only 5 minutes from the condo. This fun shopping center has casual restaurants, Starbucks, and food trucks. Many other activities include hula dancers, live music, and yearly festivals, and displays about the 2023 fire.
Our property is registered for General Excise Tax and Transient Accommodation Tax. The property is classified short term rentals for real estate tax purposes.

My husband and I had a beautiful 8 day vacation at this condo. The property provided not only an exceptional ocean view but in a convenient location for walking for groceries, restaurants, water excursions, and downtown Lahaina shops. We totally enjoyed living in paradise, cooking wonderful meals and watching sunsets from the lanai. We will be back. Susan and David
Very nice, clean, well located property in Lahaina. Nick, the VRBO owner/host was easy to communicate with and very responsive to any questions. Overall, a very good experience.
If we ever come back to Maui, we will for sure stay here again. Everything about the property and the owner was excellent.
We felt like the Unit was very dated and not satisfactory. Selling it for its “Spectacular View” is one thing and we take responsibility for not researching the reviews of the unit.
This property is conveniently situated just outside of old town Lahaina, grocery shopping, beach and running path to other northbound resort beach complexes in Kaanapali and beyond. You can walk or drive, whichever is preferred. The perfect location for everything you need and do in West Maui. The ocean front view is priceless, and you can never get tired of sitting on the lanai and just watch / listen to the waves coming ashore anytime if the day. Unfortunately we missed the sea turtles sighting, but we heard from others they were there (just below the sea wall) one of the mornings. Nick is a super host, very detailed (instructions, helpful travel info, recommendations), highly responsive, and follows up with you during and after your stay. The apartment has everything we needed and we made brunch every morning watching the ocean, and on nights that we don’t want to go out, it’s easy to buy take-out or make something simple. The in-suite washer/dryer are very convenient and easy to operate. Our only feedback is if the floors could be even cleaner (we prefer to go barefoot inside home), that would make a perfect score. We had an amazing stay and we hope to return in the future!

In the heart of Lahaina we could easily walk to shopping and restaurants. Multiple days we even walked to downtown Lahaina. The sunsets from our lanai were unbelievable. Turtles frequently visited in front of the property. The owner was extremely communicative, helpful and ensured we had everything we needed.
Walking distance to downtown, easily accessible for my elderly mom. Nick has a wealth of knowledge that he shares of all the things to do.
It was quite cozy and exactly what we needed. The location was nice, away from any noise from the main part of front street. I was glad it had a kitchen since we went fishing I had a place to cook my catch. The view was wonderful! It was a joy watching the sunset from the balcony, and wake up with morning coffee and watch the waves. The only real issue with the place was the sliding glass door to the balcony would get stuck, and was extremely hard to open. And if you can't handle the heat, there is no AC, which didn't bother us too often. All in all my husband and I had a nice stay and would come here again if we had the opportunity. Thanks!
Location of rental was very near downtown Lahaina which was very convenient for for food, shopping, beautiful ocean scenery. Owner of property, Nick, was great to work with and very responsive to questions we had. He provided many restaurants and sights for us to check out. Overall great experience!
The condo is exactly as described. The condo /building is dated but has the comforts of home including a full kitchen, washer/dryer, and beach gear (folding backpack chairs, coolers, beach towels, snorkel masks). The toilet was a bit quirky and some lights didn’t work. For someone who likes it quite cool, the condo was quite warm during the day even with windows/patio doors open and fans running, but Nick the owner had forewarned us about this. The downsides were outweighed by the excellent oceanfront location where turtles can be seen swimming right up to the sea wall.

ocean views are amazing
If you are looking for a place to stay in Maui that offers privacy, convenience, and a great view, this is your Condo. It was full of everything you could need besides perishable items. With a block and a half walk to Safeway, that was no problem at all. Located right on Front street, it was only an $8 Uber or a walk to take us to the Harbor and store fronts. Communication with Nick was fast and easy from booking to check out. Looking forward to coming back again!
