We love the Whaler and have stayed at this property many times. This unit was very clean, bright, and updated. Love the spaciousness of The Whaler. Very comfortable for 4 adults, 2 full baths. The murphy bed is very comfortable. There is a pull out couch as well. The kitchen was fully stocked. W/D on the floor by the elevators are free. Two beach chairs, cooler, and 1 working boogie board in unit at the time of our stay. Would definitely stay in this unit again. The unit is the north tower back corner unit on the second floor. Loved the quietness of being towards the back but still enjoying the ocean view. Loved the sunrise view each morning as well.
Amazing place! So clean, beautifully decorated, and convenient to Whalers Village.
Overall, the property was beautiful. The updates were fabulous and the location simply cannot be beat. However, upon arrival, we did discover several roaches within the property hiding in and among the dishes. We only found one singular additional roach beyond that first night, but it obviously left an unsettling feeling about the property at large. Hard to feel completely comfortable with that knowledge. We brought it up to the property managers/owners who, more or less, shrugged it off. Quote: "Please let us know if this would be an issue so that we could report this to property maintenance." If you have roaches, it's an issue. I shouldn't need to explain that. Going on, we ran into an issue when we ran out of toilet paper. When this was brought, we were instructed to go purchase our own. Seemed odd and a bit cold from the property management team. The management company who runs this unit, Vacation-Maui.com, is simply a company I would not recommend. The stay was wonderous, save for them.
Everything was amazing!
The grounds, check-in process, parking, staff, location were excellent. The unit was beautiful with a spacious wrap around balcony. The bathrooms were modern and convenient for our family. We didn’t think we would need house keeping but decided it would be a good idea a couple days into our stay, however, they were unable to accommodate our request until the final day. Constructively, there were three things that made this overall rating good and not excellent. First, we noticed roaches throughout the kitchen area and one of the bathrooms. We did not have any food out on the counters for that reason, but the critters kept coming back every night. We realize this is common on the island. Second, we did not have bedsheets for the trundle bed. We called to request sheets and didn’t get an answer until over a day later. Lastly, despite the signs by the pool, guests were leaving towels on unattended chairs early in the morning and did not use them during the peak times.Unfortunately we had to pack quickly and evacuate the condo due to the tsunami warning. Otherwise this was a lovely vacation.
Very nice stay here and would stay here again. The corner layout makes it feel open and light. That said, it's right next to the pickle ball courts which open at 8 am, so some morning noise is possible with the doors open.
We have stayed at the Whaler many times over the years, but this was our first time staying in this unit. The Whaler is the perfect centralized location on Kaanapali and the grounds are impeccable, however, we will not be staying in this unit again. It was the easy stuff that was not on point: the unit was in need of a deep clean, the pillows were lumpy and stained, the bedding (not the sheets) smelled of of other humans, cockroaches, dirty bedroom floor (had to wear shoes to keep our feet clean), no cleaning supplies, no pot holders, smelly ice bucket, coffee pot left with cleaning cycle needed. If the unit was thoroughly cleaned, the cockroaches removed, and the linens updated, it would be a wonderful condo.
Great location, recently remodeled, and well equipped....just really needed a deep cleaning in a bad way. We have stayed in lots of places throughout Kaanapali, and this was by far the most updated, but dirtiest. The hide-a-bed was listed as not usable, so as-advertised, but would be a nice addition if it were functional. Would stay again if better cleaning protocols were in place.

The condo was just like the photos, fully stocked and even had a beach umbrella. The views from the lanai were great, both the ocean and beautiful mountains. Conveniently located next to shops and restaurants.
Excellent property, great location! Communication from owner/management exceed expectations.
Loved this condo. The Murphy bed worked great for our two kids to share. The pull out couch was broken, hopefully that gets fixed soon. The beach umbrella is also broken so we weren’t able to use that either. Great location, easy access to shopping and food. the staff on property is great, the management company was great too. Very responsive and easy to follow instructions. Great amenities, our kids especially loved the beach toys included. Overall, if you have a family of 4, this is the perfect condo if your kids can share a bed. Will be even better once they fix the sofa bed. We loved it and Maui in general.
We stayed in this idyllic condo April 2024. The location on Ka'anapali beach is great and this condo's location is perfect in the back corner of tower 1 with views of the mountains and ocean. The condo has floor to ceiling sliders on 2 sides and enables you to get so much fresh air while still maintaining privacy. We loved that the unit had 2 bathrooms, one with a great soaking tub and the other with a walk in rain shower. The decor was beautiful and very comfortable. The unit comes with boogey boards, umbrella and some beach toys but no beach chairs. The common areas of the resort were very clean and all staff we encountered were friendly and helpful. We will definitely stay here again when we return to Lahaina.
You can't beat the location and the condo had great appliances and amenities. Very tastefully decorated. If I have one negative thing to say, its that there was a lot of road noise between loud motorcycles amd sirens.
Sunrise view over the west mountains, and an ocean view from the wraparound lanai. Clean, comfortable...overall a great vrbo experience! Unit had beach chairs and an umbrella, or you could rent from the resort. Right on the beachwalk and next door to Whalers Village restaurants and shops.
