Ocean View Condo | Aston Whaler at Kaanapali 1173 – Pool, Hot Tub & Spa

This was a beautiful condo in an amazing location. We loved our stay here! The condo was very spacious, well equipped. The property was fantastic, we manicured, cared for, perks like beach chairs and a nice pool/hot tub. We even did yoga on the lawn and bingo- both offered by the property. Staff were kind and fun. It was a superior experience!

Everything was perfect! We had a wonderful time. Great food and shopping nearby. Black rock was the best spot for snorkeling.

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Returning to the whaler was everything. I hoped it would be and more. Our rooms were fantastic. Well appointed, very comfy. It was great.

We had a wonderful stay at this property. It’s in a great locations! The only drawback was no housekeeping.

Overall we had a wonderful stay. The listing information and photos were very accurate. A few comments: Location -- PERFECT. Very convenient walk to the beach, shops, etc. Views -- GREAT. It's not the most premium view you can get at this complex, but still absolutely gorgeous. Size -- GREAT. I'm guessing it's one of the larger units in this complex. Check-in -- GREAT. Front desk was super nice and helpful. You get a hotel services feel even though you're renting a condo via VRBO. Also, we loved the free coffee and free ice tea in the lobby... very convenient. Overall, I think it's a 4 or 5 star rating. I gave it 5 stars instead of 4 only because I assume they'll address some minor issues: -- The cleaning crew did not do a great job before our arrival. There were some containers in the kitchen that still had crumbs from the previous guests. -- There was a subtle odor in the bedrooms. I'm not sure if it was the carpet or something else, but it was noticeable, especially in the kids' room. Not horrible, but not exactly pleasant either. -- You should be aware that the AC pauses when you have any screen doors open. This makes sense for energy cost conservation, but on a hot day you're likely going to close the sliders and keep the AC on. Not ideal for indoor/outdoor living, but it wasn't really a big deal. -- The shampoo was empty in both showers when we arrived. The hotel staff brought up new shampoo immediately so not a big deal, but you would think that the cleaning crew would check this before new arrivals. -- The ice maker wasn't functioning properly when we arrived. The maintenance staff fixed this issue, but we had to wait a couple days since it was an off day for the person when we reported it. -- The dishwasher wasn't working perfectly. This was also fixed by maintenance when we brought it up, but hopefully it's not an ongoing issue (they mentioned it having issues in the past). Another reviewer mentioned that the unit didn't have a laundry inside the unit. Normally this would be a deal-breaker for us, but the laundry is just down the hallway, is totally free, and was never crowded. We had no issue with doing laundry there and we used it on multiple days. The only other negative I'll mention is that the age of building is showing in some areas. Like all the window sliders are older and don't operate smoothly. Still, you really can't beat the location/convenience of this property! Again, minor issues aside, it's a wonderful place!

Overall, a beautiful condo, and we had a great time. A few minor annoyances : there were loud noises at night and in early am(5am !) in the unit above us, ? construction?. There is no washer /dryer in this unit; this is the first time we have encountered this at the Whaler(we have come many times). The dining room chairs made loud screeching noises when the chairs are moved on the bare floor- we asked if small pads could be put on the bottom of the chair legs so they would slide without noise on the floor, and were told no.
