Beautifully appointed, great location, awesome views. Just far enough from town, but next to a beautiful park, water access, and one of Hilo’s favorite restaurants.

Lovely condo. Nicely stocked. Friendly atmosphere and people. Wonderful views and amazing location being just down the street from Richardson Ocean Park and right next to Carlsmith Beach. Plus downtown Hilo is only around 10 minutes away and Mauna Kea and Hawaii Volcanoes NP are both only 45 minutes. Highly recommend.

Living quarters were ok ! Property is old and not appealing. Spider webs all over the place, I would not stay here again !

What a perfect stay at the Mauna Loa Shores condo for us. Great location for visiting volcano natl park, the Hilo farmers market and eating at our favorite Hilo restaurants! A big plus was waking to a beautiful view from our bedroom, it was breathtaking!

Phenomenal views from the Primary bedroom and Lanai. Penthouse was clean and well stocked. Carlsmith beach is a one minute walk and was awesome to snorkel and hang out in. Saw a turtle sunning all day. Close to town for eats and stores plus quick travel to Volcano National Park and other island destinations. Would dedinitely stay here again if we come back to the Big Island.

The unit was clean, well appointed, and comfortable. The views are spectacular from the top floor, and with the open windows we were able to hear the ocean at night. It’s a shame the building and property was a rough around the edges and needs some TLC.

We enjoyed our time on the Hilo side in this updated and clean condo right next to Carlsmith Park. We were able to snorkel in our “backyard”. The condo didn’t have AC but plenty of fans were provided along with the ocean breezes made it comfortable. Terry was excellent to work with. Very responsive and even gave us a list of things to do and favorite restaurants. We would stay here again.

We stayed 3 nights and enjoyed swimming in the evening with sea turtles, it was amazing. If you like to hike your 15-45 minutes from several waterfalls and amazing sights. Visiting ‘Akaka Falls and Kilauea are a must, we also loved Laupahoehoe Point Beach Park and low key beaches at Kona.

What a lovely spot. Great views, great hosts, 10/10 would stay again. :)

We really enjoyed staying at this property. Beautiful vue of the ocean. The kitchen was well equipped. Apartment was right in front of the beach. Great location to visit the volcano and the botanical gardens. Will book again.

We loved staying in the penthouse. It was very tasteful and comfortable, and the view from the bedroom and lanai couldn’t be better. The people in the building were nice and a nice long pool was good for laps. Carl Smith beach right next-door was excellent for gentle swimming And snorkeling, and we saw a lot of turtles. I would definitely come back and stay in the penthouse. All the necessities were available in the kitchen, and the place was clean and tasteful.

Beautiful location, well-appointed property with friendly caretakers, very responsive and helpful host, lots of nice extras like snorkel gear and camping chairs. Lack of AC (clear in listing) was mitigated by fans and screens. Walkable to great park for lower mobility elderly staying with us.

The property was exactly as described. We could not have asked for anything more in our stay. The host thought of everything, down to the drying racks for laundry, snorkel gear, and a pair of binoculars to enjoy watching the activity in the beautiful lagoon behind the property. We stayed in March and were able to leave the windows open for a fantastic breeze the entire time. Would definitely stay here again!

We loved our stay! The property is very quiet especially as this unit is on the top floor. The location is perfect; situated right next door to Carlsmith beach and only a few minutes from Richardson Ocean Park. The condo was very clean and has all the needed the amenities. It was an easy drive to Volcano National Park, restaurants and the grocery store. We really enjoyed staying on the Hilo side of the island (such a great vibe; especially the Friday night market). Would highly recommend this condo to others.

We really enjoyed the condo, especially the view and being right next to Carlsmith park. We would walk and look for sea turtles almost every night. We also loved cooking in the nicely stocked kitchen. We plan to return!

Had a nice, relaxing stay here with our two college-age children. Beautiful setting for relaxing on the balcony in the morning or evening, and taking a short walk or swim at the adjacent park. Close to everything we wanted to see and do in Hilo and the east side of the island.

I can honestly say this condo was easily as attractive, comfortable and well outfitted as advertised and we loved our stay there! The view from the Lanai was gorgeous and the wealth of passing birds was, from that height really fun to watch. The supplied binoculars was another very nice amenity! When we return to the big island, this will be our number one choice!

This condo was a total score. Gorgeous interior! Fine art everywhere. Everything you will need for a luxury stay. We put all the contact in our phones for future stays. A one of a kind property. Complete and total privacy.. my wife and I were thrilled!! Very comfortable beds, quality sheets and towels.. perfect touches throughout.. 10 out of 10 !!

It was a very relaxing location and propertyIt’s so nice to wake up and sleeping hearing and seeing the ocean. You can relax and not do anything and walk by the beach and chill.Very close to all stores and restaurants.

We had a great stay at Terry's place. The location was perfect for our itinerary, and the view is divine. We loved sitting on the lanai with our morning coffee, looking out over Carlsmith Beach Park. We found everything we needed for our week on the Big Island, including a cooler to take picnic lunches with us, folding chairs that came in really handy, and snorkeling gear and beach towels. The kitchen is well appointed and had everything we needed for breakfast and dinners at home. It was really nice to have the laundry room just steps down the hall, too, and there were laundry baskets and detergent and things provided. Terry and the property manager were both prompt and solicitous during our stay, and sent over a really nice list of restaurants, attractions, and other suggestions. We went to Hawaii Tropical Botanical Gardens on their recommendation, and it was indeed a highlight of our trip. Thank you for a wonderful week!

This unit is on the top floor, with a magnificent ocean and bay view, overlooking the beach park. The unit is nicely laid out with a compact kitchen (which is lacking a dishwasher), a living room/dining room combination, along with the two bedrooms. The primary bedroom has a wall of windows overlooking the ocean and bay. The other bedroom has a view of Mauna Loa. Both bedrooms have very high legged beds, 35 inches to the top of the mattress, made for easy viewing of the water and mountain, but making it a bit difficult to get in and out of, especially if you are mobility challenged or a shorter person. The television entertainment, in the living room and primary bedroom, is mostly Roku TV, and apps for numerous other services. The internet access is free and fairly strong. The one bathroom is small, but functional, with a bathtub and shower combo, which is setup nicely with grab bars. The lanai is large enough for a loveseat and two wicker, cushioned chairs, and a table. The lanai was our favorite place to sit and either read, play games or just enjoy the view. Again, the view is fantastic!The parking space for the unit is conveniently located directly across from the building main entrance.The condo building is very secure, with a key system for the ground floor elevator, making it difficult to get up to the condo units without an elevator key. The property is well maintained and quiet, in general.

Gorgeous setting and nicely renovated apartment. The room with the ocean view and the lanai are stellar and bring in the nightly sounds of crashing waves and the surrounding rainforest.

The view from this condo can not be beat. We so enjoyed watching the sun rise and set from the lanai, highlight of our trip to Hilo. Very clean and well kept condo with the most comfortable bed, pillows, and sheets. Great location next door to Carl Smith Beach Park - turtles can be found all day! Can run on the road right outside the condo which was handy for us. The hosts provided clear check in instructions and many excellent recommendations of things to do and where to dine. Moon and Turtle restaurant provided the best meal of our trip! If you are looking for a condo in a quieter, not as touristy location this is the place for you.

This condo was wonderful with everything you could think of that you would need. It was wonderful sleeping with the windows open to hear the ocean waves and feel the ocean breeze. I would recommend this condo and plan on booking it again!Thank you!

We were blessed with sunny days to enjoy this perfect condo! We did the Volcanoes, coconut island, Queen Liliuokalani Gardens, cafe Pesto and swam/snorkelled in the lagoon with some fish and 3 turtles. We hope to come back next year!

The condo was very well appointed, clean and the views were absolutely stunning! Walk to Carlsmith Park to snorkel with the sea turtles, The Seaside restaurant across the street was amazing! The property managers were extremely helpful & responsive! I highly recommend this stay!!

Super views and right next to the beach. Place was very clean and roomy. The lanai was perfect for both morning coffee and an evening glass of wine. Close to everything. If you arrive after dark be sure you have a flashlight and some patience as locating and accessing the key box is a challenge. Would definitely stay again.

If you are looking for a vacation rental in the Hilo area, look no further! The penthouse at the Mauna Loa Shores has a breathtaking view of one of the best swimming beaches on the Big Island- Carlsmith Park, and is super convenient to both downtown Old Hilo and all the supermarkets and stores in the shopping malls along the Hawaii Belt road. The condo itself is beautifully decorated and very comfortable. When we visit Hilo in the future we will definitely make this place our home away from home!

We stayed in this wonderful condo and absolutely loved it. The views of the water are so tranquil. It’s one of those vacation stays where you don’t need to leave the immediate area to enjoy yourself. My husband and I are in our 70’s and there was plenty to keep you busy within walking distance of the condo. I can’t think of one negative thing to report about the decor or ease of living in this space. My recommendation is stay as long as you can, except for the dates we want to come! Have fun!

Lovely accommodation; comfortable, beautifully decorated with everything we needed for a wonderful stay in Hilo. Location is very good- secluded, yet close enough to restaurants, shopping, National Park, etc. the view from the lanai and proximity to the protected beach was amazing.

The unit itself was very comfortable/clean and the view was fantastic. The park and lagoon were beautiful! The exterior building/property needs some TLC and cleaning.

Every aspect of this condo makes it an excellent choice and value. Very easy access, wonderful view, very well equipped, quiet, and genuinely comfortable. We will stay here again.

The rental was super clean and easy to access. The bed was comfy and the kitchen has everything you need. The views from the patio and one bedroom are incredible. It overlooks Carlsmith beach which is a sheltered and calm location to snorkel and see bright little fish and green sea turtles. We would definitely stay here again.
