Our third visit to this fabulous property. Everything was great and we will return.
Beautiful property on the ocean. Fabulous kitchen with plenty of supplies. Plenty of room to spread out and enjoy the fabulous views. Family really enjoyed the pool. Would definitely stay here again.
Awesome property, everything was as good as advertised. Helpful host with all instructions needed.
This was an exceptional home for our family to spend the holiday together. Great comfortable location. Very private.Well equipped kitchen, great looking interior but countertop maintenence a bit fussy. One downstairs bedroom had dampness issue after rain which was quickly taken care of by the friendly, and efficient Colin! It was an excellent location to the Kilauea volcano. We were able to get there before the mass of others and traffic arrived. It was a simple drive to Hilo and longer to Kona coast. So worth the privacy and to be away from the tourist scene. Thank you for sharing your home!
This is a truly stunning property with an incredible ocean view. The home and grounds are very beautiful and feel secluded although the house is in an easily accessible neighborhood and close to amenties. There was plenty of space for our whole family and we enjoyed making meals in the large kitchen and then enjoying them on the massive lanai. It was also a good home base for visting Volcanoes National Park and for day trips to Hilo.We loved our time here and would highly recommend it.
The house was beautiful and the setting was gorgeous. We were very comfortable there. We had a couple of people who had to work during part of the stay, and the internet worked great. Also, it was nice that there were several desks for the working people. Some of us enjoyed running on the Government Beach Road - just gorgeous! We also really enjoyed breakfast at Pele's Kitchen in Pahoa.
Beautiful grounds and home. We stayed here for a few nights to wind down at the end of an extended family trip. It was a great retreat and we enjoyed cooking a few meals in the kitchen. The living room could get a little warm during the day, but the bedroom AC was plenty comfortable.
Very nice property! Stayed a couple of nights,
This property is a hidden gem! The location is remote however perfect if you want be in the most peaceful and beautiful place ever. Jim and Meagan were excellent hosts, extremely attentive and responsive. Our family enjoyed our stay very much even with the tsunami! :)
Our group of 7 (2 couples and 3 teenagers) enjoyed our stay at this VRBO. The location was great for our excursion to Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, as well as, a cool zip line tour just north of Hilo. Playing billiards and sitting around the fire pit were highlights. The master bedroom on the 2nd floor was great. The layout of the downstairs was a little odd, and some commented that a dehumidifier would have been nice downstairs. Overall, the setting was beautiful; we just wish we had been there during one of the Kīlauea eruptions!
Our family vacation was absolutely amazing! This property is gorgeous, and the house was very clean. The host was incredibly responsive and helpful. The location was perfect for exploring the Island. The well stocked kitchen, comfortable living space and pool were a real plus. This was truly a fantastic VRBO experience. This property is highly recommended!
There were a total of 7 of us, friends and couples. Our first time visiting Hawaii and I have to say, this property was the perfect introduction to what we dreamt of as Hawaiian life. There is plenty of room for us all to be comfortable yet close. The a/c in the bedrooms is lovely after a day on the sun and humidity (we're from WI). The landscaper came by one afternoon and happily answered questions we had about the flora and fauna. I would happily visit this property again.
Perfect stay. Three kids stayed in the bunk and loved having their own room with direct access outside. The master up stairs is comfortable and beautiful, leading to the pool. The kitchen is big and bright. We had all our meals outside and happy hour by the fire pit. One evening we saw whales!
Hale Kakahi means Unique House. And it truly lives up to the name. The grounds, the architecture, the tropical vegetation, the wraparound lanai, and the view are all overwhelmingly stunning. Every morning we would wake up early to catch the sunrise and see how the light bounced around inside the interior through the windows. The house itself is super maintained—not an easy task for a home on the ocean. The koa wood floors and other exotic woods along with the many floor-to-ceiling windows are something you rarely see in a home. The entire property will take your breath away. My husband and I stayed there for 4 nights; but we also used to own this property and decided to rent it on a visit back to the Big Island. It warmed our hearts to see it so well taken care of; because we, of all people know what it takes to maintain a 3-acre property on the ocean. Mahalo nui loa to the owners, who have thought of all the details to ensure a memorable stay for their guests. They really care.
Beautiful home and landscaping. Breath taking ocean views from the backyard.
It is rare to find an oceanfront property and privacy! Beautiful house on a beautiful property. Hated to leave.
Super nice place, secluded with beautiful grounds and ocean view. Would stay here again
The property is amazing. I loved waking up to the sound of the waves everyday. The house had everything we needed and even a couple board games for the kids. It was easy to find, even in the dark, which has not always been the case at other Vrbo’s we have stayed at. I like that one of the master suites was attached to the room with the bunk beds so our small children wouldn’t be walking up the steep stairs looking for us in the middle of the night. We would stay definitely stay again if given the chance.
An excellent location to experience the "green" side of the island. We loved its proximity to the National Park, Waterfalls and Black sand beaches. We also loved getting a flavor of the less touristy side island. The home was spacious and comfortable and had beautiful gardens and a view of the ocean.
We enjoyed the beautiful home, big yard and amazing view!!!
What’s n amazing place to spend
This property is seriously more than expected!! It was in fact EPIC! The house and grounds are beautiful and very well maintained. This is a place that my family will come back to stay
This home, and surrounding area/view, were spectacular! It provided a true feel of what one expects from an Hawaiian island. The driveway was magnificent, built up by foliage. The home was gorgeous, and the view was indescribable! We could have spent the entire stay sitting on the wrap-around porch looking at the ocean and landscaping. The pool was great. Truly an amazing experience.
A beautiful, well-maintained house that feels like it's in the middle of a rainforest, but is still easily accessible by car. The open-floor plan of the main living area + kitchen invites guests to spend time together, but the three main bedrooms provide sufficient privacy. Everything around the house is in good working working order, which shows how much the owners care about the property. The garden is absolutely magnificent! This was one of our favorite places in Hawaii - we had a great time and would love to come back again for a longer stay.
We had such a special vacation. The house is a work of art with open beams, tropical woods, lava stone hearth. We were in the pool everyday and roasted marshmallows at the campfire overlooking an 180 degree view of the ocean. Beautiful cloud formations, eastern view sunrises and colorful sunsets. A bird watcher’s dream. Very private and exquisite landscaping. We look forward to coming back. Thank you to the owners for being very helpful and responsive.
Book this place if you’re looking to get away from the crowds and the noise. We forget that life can be so peaceful and beautiful but this property will remind you that you need this kind of life every once in a while in your life!
We loved our stay in Pahoa. The home is located on a beautiful property with a view of the sunrise every morning. We loved grilling and having dinner on the patio, playing pool in the billiards room, and just relaxing on the deck. The bedrooms were comfortable and accommodated our group with plenty of room to spare. The owners were very responsive and a pleasure to work with. We will be back!
Lovely location, great view, feels very private (trees do a good job of making it hard to see other houses). Stayed here 2 years ago, and enjoyed it so much we came back. Couple nice restaurants in Pahoa and Hilo isn't far either. Jim and Meagan are very responsive and helped us when we ran into issues (neighborhood power was out for a few hours when we arrived).
My wife and I brought our two daughters and their husbands to enjoy a week of island paradise. This place delivered. We had a magical time. The place was beautiful, and the location was ideal for getting to waterfalls, beaches and volcanos. Our only regret was not having another week to stay.
Our family had a wonderful time watching the crashing waves! The house was comfortable, well equipped, and beautifully situated.
We stayed here for 5 nights and I wish it would have been 25! Comfortable beds, wonderful air conditioning. We spent several hours just staring at the ocean and even saw dolphins, whales, and turtles right out the back. Black Sand Beach, Volcanos, and Green Sand Beach were awesome waypoints when we could pry ourselves away from the amazing views and comfort of this home. We can't wait to come back!
This is the perfect Hawaii getaway spot on the Big Island. Has absolutely everything you need in the house and it is on the ocean, quiet yard, and fantastic lanai. Even got to watch whales right from the lanai. Highly recommend.
This place looked even better in person! We really enjoyed our time on the East side of the island and were sad to leave this fabulous house. We made some great memories! We truly couldn’t wait to get back to the house after our excursions and spent most evenings in, just listening to the waves and enjoying the comfortable living room with the best tv content we’ve ever had at a rental. We could have just stayed there all day and been perfectly happy. Thank you so much for the wonderful time!
This was a perfect spot for the start to our Big Island trip. The location was quiet, and private. The house was great, the grounds are beautiful, and the view is amazing. Easy access to the Hilo side adventures. Thanks for a great 4 days!
Two weeks in paradise...this beautiful oceanfront home and property is well deserving of all its Five star reviews. Impeccably clean, well furnished and 100% peaceful! The descriptions are accurate but do not give justice to how spectacular this property really is... Mahalo to our hosts for sharing their world class property!!!
This home is amazing! The property and the view alone make it 5 stars! We had daily activities planned, but on the 1 day that the rain was coming down in sheets, we were quite content to laze around on the deck and stare at the ocean all day. Three days during our week we saw whales right off the shore. Make sure that if you are bringing small children or elderly guests, that you carefully read about the spiral staircase inside the house – it could be tricky.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay! Great communication by owners. Gorgeous main room with soaring ceiling around beautiful lava chimney. Outstanding views/sounds from the waves on the rocks out front. Plenty of space to stretch-out indoors and out. Well-appointed kitchen. Comfortable beds and linens. The kids loved the bunk beds, air hockey table, and pool! If there were one thing that we'd change, it'd be adding some solar heating to the pool during these chillier winter months. Thanks so much for sharing your home - we'd definitely return to this property in a heartbeat!
