Highly recommend this property!
Our stay couldn’t have been better. The property was gorgeous, the room itself was amazing and exactly as advertised. We had rented 3 different rooms on property to accommodate our family and this was everyone’s favorite. Would definitely look to book this room on a return trip. Thank you for helping create a wonderful family experience!
This property is beautiful. The views are amazing and the location great.
This was a family trip of four celebrating our daughter's graduation from college. The good: Very clean on arrival Huge balcony with an amazing sunset view and BBQ Large condo with big kitchen and a great gas stovetop Fab location in Kaanapali Beach chairs and cooler provided Good selection of martini and wine glasses As we paid considerably more than a waterfront, luxury hotel for the four of us to spend 10 nights, we are expecting that level of accommodations ... Needs work: Extremely worn out couch in the living area NEEDS to be replaced. The dishwasher either needs to be repaired or replaced, if we didn't essentially completely clean the dishes before putting them in, they weren't cleaned by the dishwasher. Kitchen items need to be reviewed for a basic cooking experience - we ended up buying and leaving - food storage containers, cutting board, wire whisk and potato peeler. The cheese grater was terrible. No hand soap provided in the kitchen - we also bought that. Lots of wood table surfaces, only 2 coasters and no placemats. 2 of the 4 TV's were not smart TVs
Our stay was very nice.We have stayed at the Hanua Kai several times. The unit 501 is well situated with great views. The unit itself is a bit worn-out and needs some minor repairs. I informed the rental agency. The Hanua Kai wasn't as busy as it has been in the past so that was nice. Dukes was greatcas always. Overall it was a nice week.
This condo has spectacular views of the ocean, nearby islands and whale watching! Too bad during our entire week long stay we were not allowed to go out on the very expansive balcony. We arrived to find signs on every balcony door saying “BEWARE Balcony Closed”, plus the outdoor furniture was piled up and tightly wrapped together. We were shocked that for the high price we paid for an oceanfront condo this was what we got! Also we were traveling with two young grandkids (3 and 5) who now could not enjoy the amazing deck area. Of course that meant immediately upon arrival I got on the phone with the local management rental company. It turns out the Honua Kai Resort was painting the exterior of the building including the railings and balcony baseboards and that was why we were not allowed out there. Every day a cherry picker type of machine would lift workers up to our 5th floor balcony or the 6th floor unit above us to work. Besides having no access to the balcony there was also a privacy issue. There were men working on our balcony! This was our very least favorite visit to Hawaii which we have done annually for years. Fortunately the management company did compensate us with a partial refund after I made daily calls complaining of us never being allowed on the balcony for the entire week.
Pros: Beautiful view of ocean and grounds, beautiful and spacious bathrooms and kitchen, lots of comfy seating inside and out, staff was friendly & helpful. The living room had comfy recliners. It was nice to be able to put your feet up. Cons: For the unit price, it should have been pristine, but wasn't. When we arrived, the first thing we noticed was a bad smell. The air-conditioning wasn't working in any of the rooms. There was a wet area rug in the living room with a loud fan going to speed up drying, which we turned off the next day since we couldn't hear each other talking. It felt like a sauna in there. The AC was soon fixed, it worked fine in the bedrooms, but never worked well in the living room. The tech said the air coming out of the vents was cold enough, but the fan wasn't powerful enough. He suggested we close the curtains in the afternoon...we came to see the ocean, not the curtains. The rug was finally removed. There was something spilled on the side of the couch and one of the bedrooms had handprints all over the mirror and we found a book behind the curtains, so it wasn't cleaned thoroughly. The curtains had an area streaked with black, front and back. There were holes in the decorative pillows on the bed and in the table runner in the dining area. The couches, while comfortable, looked dirty and worn. I realize we were in the tropics, but seeing bugs scatter when you turn on the kitchen light at night was rather disgusting. Not worth the cost.
The property has an absolutely beautiful view and the condo was very comfortable. I would suggest a new area rug and a new couch in the family room. The area rug is really dirty and the couch is worn out. Other than those two issues it was a very nice unit.
The resort was very comfortable, people were so nice and helpful. View upstanding,,Would recommend and go again to stay there.
Super beautiful condo, the wrap around porch was ahhhhmazing! We did see a lot of whales! Dukes was wonderful, pool was great as well! You have to go down at 5am to a chair around the pool tho. The AC in the bedrooms was outstanding!!! But…Condo is lacking amenities for teens/kids. No beach gear besides chairs and a large cooler. The dryer needs to be replaced. It took over 2hrs to dry a towel, 2 pairs of socks, cargo shorts and a tshirt, 5 things-2hrs. Also had serious problem with no hot water after 8-10m. Emailed rental company and a maintenance team came and left, then another team came and left, then a maintenance mgr came and said he needed to replace a pipe and he’d recommend an outside company to come back the next day and remove the water tank. We never heard from anyone again. So I called 2 days later and she said our unit had been noted. Being noted does not help me to share a bathroom with 5 others. (Keep in mind this is a 3bed/3bath) That was awful! One bathroom had hot water if no one else did dishes or laundry! Nothing was ever resolved about the hot water issue or the dryer. No mention of any type of compensation at all. Beautiful condo, but not sure I’ll rent with Maui resort rentals again.
