Kahana Village #29 Beach Front Standard

I booked a family trip for my wife and 2 young children June 6-14.June 7th we all started to have major allergy symptoms which was strange because my children get regular allergy shots at the Dr to prevent this. By June 9th I was having extreme difficulty breathing and had to cancel my scuba dive tours because I couldn’t breathe. The house is musty especially the master bedroom which I slept in on June 9th. I thought maybe it was dust. So I started looking for dust to clean up and I found in several places what appears to be mold. I found it in the bed, walls, closets, window sills, ledges. Big fuzzy strips of it everywhere most patches over 6 inches long. Devastated I called the 24 hour help line multiple times and management/maintenance never responded. I also sent emails and messages on VRBO and received no reply. I went through the entire night wondering what to do and in the morning had my family pack up and get out. I didn’t have a plan but I knew that we wouldn’t get any better staying there. I finally got a reply from management in the morning and even had one of them walk through and take pictures of what I saw. Management eventually called me after I escalated the matter with VRBO. They offered me another unit which was not oceanfront because they said the room was unusable and they couldn’t let me back in. I passed on the offer and am currently waiting for a full refund as this unit was not habitable at any time during the check in.

The grounds are beautiful and well maintained. Staff is pleasant and helpful. I look forward to many more visits. I love Maui and Kahana Village is THE destination. What I liked most is that it is quaint little property (approx. 35 units), the outside gardens were lush and well maintained, it is located on the beach and the views were simply amazing. The property management people were nice to deal with. We stayed in Unit 29 which had gorgeous views from every room; however, the interior needs some refurbishing (believe me on this). The Wednesday night mai tia party was fun and included free mia tias, snacks, and entertainment. The barbecues became the nightly meeting place to have a drink, enjoy the sunset, and visit with other guests as your food was cooking. I would highly recommend this property!

We visit Maui every year & have stayed in several different complexes-- this is, by far, our favorite. Our 1st visit we stayed in unit 5; it was newly decorated & had a beautiful view. The next year we selected unit 29, & fell in love with it. The decor is a bit mundane, but it's a quiet end-unit, very private, & offers spectacular, panaramic views of the ocean from every room, including the kitchen! Now we book #29 every year❤️

Incredible views of Lanai, Molokai and the channel where all the whales play all day long. My only complaint with 29 is that the furniture is not very comfortable. A nice plushy sectional would do wonders for the living room.

The view of Lanai and Molokai, watching wales, enjoying the sea turtle that visited the beach twice while we were there, sitting on the beach etc. We would highly recommend unit 29 second floor for the great view on two sides.

Some things could use updating and it would be helpful to have an instruction list for how to work the tv's. Also, the electric outlets in the master bedroom didn't work.

The nominal extra charge for the corner unit with all ocean views was definitely worth the price. Loved going to sleep listening to the ocean every night. We liked that the condo was within a short drive of shopping and dining but still had a remote feel. The only thing we were not too pleased with was the comfort of the living room furniture. Felt like it was made for very short people and the cushions were quite hard.
