The house was clean and had everything we needed.

Great location! Easy walk to restaurants and the farmer's market. The furniture and beds were very comfortable. Everything a person would need was in the house. There was always an open space right in front of the house to park our car. Overall, a great stay and would highly recommend.

Live like a local. It was cool to be in a local neighborhood with close proximity to downtown. The place was spotless and well appointed. Very clever whale theme throughout. Very prompt response of management when any issue surfaced. Loved the sound of the songbirds, the plumeria tree streetside, even the neighbors cheering games nearby. Only downside was the streetlight shining in the front bedroom window at night. Overall this was a charming spot. Even the front porch is nice with the cafe table and chairs. There were snorkeling equipment and beach towels available and a few beach chairs. We enjoyed many local eateries and the Farmers Market along with the nearby Hawaiian Tropical Botanical Gardens.

Parking was great, as instructed. Kitchen is well cared for, very neat and complete.

Simone thought of everything! The kitchen had everything one would need during their stay. The towels were fluffy, there was plenty paper towels, TP, tissue etc. Even a flashlight to find your way to the bathroom at night. Comfortable beds, books about the island, food recommendations. I would definitely recommend this home for a stay in Hilo.

Such a cute place, very clean and inviting. Located in a quiet neighborhood very centrally located. Just a quick walk into town. We came for our son’s wedding at Honoli’i beach park. Would I stay her again? Yes!!!

Great place to stay right in the heart of Hilo. Whaler's Inn earns its name; part of the enjoyment of staying here is discovering all the little nautical details throughout the house. For example, the drainer basket in the kitchen sink has a little whale on it; later in the stay, I noticed that the TP dispenser was a whale's tail. Very fun, and always in good taste. Recommended.

The owner offered us a different condo than the one we booked, and I am glad we accepted it. The unit was clean and spacious and had everything we needed for our stay.

This was an absolutely lovely place to stay! The communication with the host and their recommendations were incredible. The house itself is spotless. The beds are comfortable and it is a quiet location. We thoroughly enjoyed the amenities and the house was simply lovely.

Great stay, exactly what we needed for our time in Hilo. The A/C is window units, which worked well. We chose to have the windows closed and use the A/C since it was very rainy at night. Beautifully decorated, attention to detail, clean, and very comfortable. Would definitely recommend!

The location was very close to activities in Hilo, and the host was very responsive and informative about restaurants and other amenities around the area. The house was clean and she even left little gifts for us ! Would recommend this cute house if you’re staying in Hilo for a few days.

Communication was quick and professional. The place was spacious and as advertized. We really liked that there was a cooler, swim equipment, puzzles, and other amenities so we didnt have to fly with anything.

The property has a spaceous kitchen/great room area and a very comfy couch. The kitchen has everything we needed and we were able to have several meals at the property. The shower is large and comfortable. The two bedrooms have a queen bed with plenty of room for suitcases, etc. The overall decor is lovely and interesting. We enjoyed working the puzzles and apreciated a chance to play Crimes Against Humanity.

So close to it all…necessities, restaurants, shopping, waterfalls, all the things; felt like everything was a 10 minute trip at most. We felt right at home. Communication from host was concise, consistent, and ahead of schedule. We were given pertinent details and pictures of the location so we could find it easily after a long flight (we were exhausted) as well as recommendations on where to go. Love this place! Also…it’s adorable.

We had a great stay at Whaler’s Inn! It is so cute and comfortable with everything you need for a great stay! Loved the welcome goodies! (Thank you!). Only thing I’d point out is the listing says it has a double sofa sleeper…this is incorrect. It has 2 queen beds and a SOFA (they did provide sheets and a pillow for said sofa). We are a family of 5, so that was a disappointment that one of the kids ended their vacation on a sofa, but knowing this ahead of time, I would book this home again! It was perfect!

Very nice house in Hilo neighborhood. My wife said it was "adorable". Two blocks from the local grocery store and within walking distance of other shops and stores. The kitchen was well equipped with utensils and dinnerware. If you plan on using the gas grill you'll need the small, detachable gas cannister like Coleman makes. The coqui frogs are loud at night, so if you haven't been to the Big Island before, be prepared. They actually have a jar of ear plugs for guests.

So we originally booked a room at a resort in Hilo, but decided to change and book this instead because we decided having two bedrooms was a better option. And we were glad that we did! This was much better than a small hotel room and had everything we needed. The best part, lots of places are within walking distance. For food, I recommend the Coco Cantina (2 min walk), it had an amazing $12 lunch special (M-F). The farmer's market is a must. And for groceries, the Sack N Save (owned by Foodland), is a great option. Would absolutely stay here again.

This was the best place ever! Walking distance to downtown restaurants, shops, and the ocean. The beds were super comfortable and the apartment was clean and updated with all sorts of cooking equipment. The host was communicative. Instructions were simple. Would definitely stay there again!

Grew up in Hilo so did a few days during my vacation on the Big Island. Definitely wanted to have a kitchen and be closer to downtown. Did not disappoint! Was able to walk to Moon and Turtle and the Hidden Nēnē, no problem!

The place was terrific and the location was central to everything we needed for a week's adventure. It is done in a lovely high-end style - more than I expected! The hidden gem was the bathroom with a huge, welcoming shower. The place got hot during the mid-day, but we were always out at the beaches or other sights and the fans and windows were plenty for us as the evening rolled around. The team was responsive when we had a few questions and super helpful. I can't imagine a stay going much better.

We had a great experience in Hilo thanks to our wonderful stay! Easy check in process, central location, great dining recommendations. The hosts provided water fun toys for the adults and kids (snorkeling, body boards, beach towels). Only wish our stay was longer!

We were pleased with the accommodations and would consider staying there again. The location is good and neighborhood is okay. Seems like a lot of young renters. The interior of the apartment is clean and VERY functional. The beds were fine. Hilo is rainy and muggy so there is time involved with windows open, intermittent windows closed, and running the ceiling fans is essential for comfort! AC would have been nice as the insect and street noise was significant but open windows were necessary for nighttime comfort.

It was the perfect location and an amazing home! Hope to stay there again soon!

This cottage was a wonderful and relaxing place for our 2-day stay in Hilo. The hosts made us feel right at home with inviting decor and homey touches as welcome gifts. Will certainly keep this place in mind if we ever come back to Hilo!

We stayed here for Merrie Monarch and it was in the perfect location, central to everything! Parking was always available, the property was clean and stocked with everything we needed. The property manager/cleaners even mailed a necklace to us that my son left behind!! We will definitely stay here again. Mahalo!!!

The cottage was charming and everything we needed for our 2 night stay. We wanted to have a relaxed visit to Volcanoes National Park (i.e. not driving to/from Kona side of island all in one day), visit a couple of waterfalls and do a zip line tour, and Whaler’s Inn was perfect. Fun decor, a well equipped kitchen, and comfortable bedding. The extra fans were very appreciated both to drown out the sounds of nature (birds/frogs) at night/early morning and to cool down the house. The house is centrally located with respect to Hilo - everything we needed was within a mile. If we come back to the area, we wouldn’t hesitate to stay there again.

Stayed here with my kids, aged 16 and 12. It was very near to downtown Hilo, about an hour to the Volcano national park. We had a good time there, the place was clean and the hosts responsive. We enjoye

A comfortable, well-equipped house close to the center of Hilo. The kitchen had everything we needed for meal preparation. The absence of air conditioning was not a problem. Open windows did allow for some street noise, but the house made us feel like we were part of the neighborhood.
