Waiuli Beach Cottage ~ Oceanfront at Richardson Beach Hilo Swim & Snorkel

The hosts were very responsive to questions before and during our stay, making this a stress-free experience. The kitchen is spacious and well equipped. Beds were comfortable and having separate floors allowed maximum privacy. Everything was spotlessly clean.The location is outstanding! Richardson Beach is a wonderful snorkeling and swimming place with a lifeguard and beach showers. We saw whales every day - most often breaching just before sunset. The hosts provide a great assortment of beach and snorkel gear.We spent four nights exploring from Waipio to Volcano National Park and this was a perfect home base.

Great setup on a wonderful property. We had an amazing time. The road in front can get pretty noisy during the day, but at night was fine. The views were beautiful and the house was very well equipped. You should be aware that the downstairs is only accessible from outside. It wasn't an issue but something to be aware of. We loved the proximity to everything. I would absolutely stay here again.

Amazing place!

We had a wonderful time at the Waiuli Beach Cottage. We loved the gorgeous beach views, being steps away from the ocean, the spaciousness of the beach hale, along with how comfortable it is. We also enjoyed the heated outdoor shower. Especially, after a rainy dip in the ocean. Mahalo to our kind hosts for a lovely stay. We’ll be back!

The beach cottage was absolutely perfect! The kitchen had everything we could possibly need and even some extras we didn’t expect. There was plenty of beach gear to use, and it’s just steps across the street from the beach park. The lanai was the perfect spot to relax, sip coffee, and take in the view. We couldn’t have asked for a better stay!

Beautiful property across the street from black sand beach. Wonderful hosts. Check in was easy and welcoming. Everything was easy to access including the wifi.

Adorable Beach Cottage in the perfect location! We fell in love with Hilo with all it's beauty and loved the black sand beach across the street. This cottage was stocked with tons beach gear and was very clean. We appreciated the washer and dryer and warm outdoor shower. Our stay was incredible!

We stayed 5 nights at Waiuli Cottage with grandparents and our 2 children and the space was perfect for us. Our family of 4 stayed in the downstairs unit and the grandparents took the upstairs. Both were very spacious. The home has everything you will ever need.The hosts were awesome and very accommodating. We met Michele at her boutique and she was very kind and took some time to talk with us. You could tell she loves sharing her home with others.The home is set between Waiuli and Richardson's Ocean Park. I enjoyed snorkeling at Richardson's and grandpa went fishing everyday across the street. It was a great base for Volcanos National Park, Akala Falls and Downtown Hilo.Thank you for hosting us. We had a wonderful stay.

Amazing location.

This little bungalow is perfect! It is located right across the street from a public beach/park. The snorkeling and swimming there was just fine and we saw several honu just hanging out. There is a lovely, screened in lanai where you can sit and enjoy your morning coffee or just sit and enjoy the scenery. There is a bedroom/bathroom upstairs and 2 sofas that can be used as beds, as well as a basement with a queen sized bed and a full bathroom. There is also a nice shower outside with hot and cold water. The owners were very responsive when we had questions. This is not a fancy resort, it is a lovely, comfortable and relaxing place to enjoy the Hilo side of the island. Dinner recommendations-Seaside, right down the road. Delicious!!

We have stayed here before and it was better than advertised. The host is amazing and did so many extra things for us. We saw many sea turtles, NeNe geese, Humpback whales breaching and much more. The each house is fully equipped with anything you might want.We will be back soon :-)

We love this sweet old house near Wai'uli Beach Park! This was the third time we stayed and it never disappoints...the location is incredible, and the cottage is always clean and bright!

When we opened the door we felt "at Home". Neat, well stocked and comfortable. The owner visited briefly which was so pleasant. Location in Hilo is perfect, sleep to the sound of the ocean and wake up to a glorious sunrise. So many wonderful places to eat and shop in Hilo. We stayed a week and enjoyed every day.

We had three generations in this little house and it worked out great. It was close to beach and snorkeling. It was close to Hilo for convenience, but far away enough for quiet. The host was helpful. I couldn't recommend it more.

The place was nice landlord was sweet, needs new furniture. Couches upstairs are not comfortable to sleep on. Couch downstairs is in very bad condition. The other couch downstairs is pretty small for a couple. Just needs some TLC for Sure.noisy street lots of people hanging in front at night. But over all it was good. Cracks in the wood in bathroom need to be replaced. Too many bugs coming through the cracks

We stayed 8 nights at this small home. It was cozy, convenient to the beach and a quick ride to downtown Hilo which is a charming town. The hosts are friendly and welcoming and made the stay all the more comfortable. I highly recommend Waikiki Cottage as a vacation destination.

We loved our stay at Waiuli Beach Cottage - couldn’t get enough of sitting on that lovely screened front porch looking out at the ocean and Richardson’s beach park. This is a charming old style Hawaiian cottage - if you are looking for a high end condo with a dishwasher this may not be the place for you. Important to understand layout - only one private bedroom upstairs, other sleeping spaces are in main room. Downstairs unit is completely separate and you have to go outside to access it. This worked well for us as our two young adult daughters used that space, which is a large room with bed, couches and TV; bathroom downstairs is gorgeous. Beautiful live edge woodwork and stone counters in kitchen, which is simple but very functional. Lots of beach amenities available - water shoes, snorkel gear, surfboard, kayak. Outdoor shower. Beautiful yard with nice outdoor seating options. Walk across the street to swim and snorkel. Nice residential neighborhood with a multitude of beach parks in Keaukaha, but can be some noise from partiers on occasion. Just 10 minute drive into Hilo town. Owners live close by and are very responsive and friendly. They have provided most everything you could need - additional bedding, pack n play crib, bbq and accessories, washer/dryer, cooler, etc. We would move in if we could - it was perfect for us and we loved every minute of our very comfortable stay here. We would definitely stay here again and highly recommend! Thank you Michele and Fuzzy :)

Great location opposite the water. Green sea turtles on the rocks! Very comfortable for two couples with our own bedrooms and washrooms. Just 40 minutes from Volcanoes National Park. A short drive to grocery stores. Very clean and comfortable accommodation. Great place.

Fabulous!

Wonderful location with a spacious lanai that we thoroughly enjoyed. The kitchen is well stocked. The only way to get from the upper level to the lower level is by going outside. The beds were comfortable. There were geckos in the house on both levels. We also noted some bugs that appeared to be cockroaches. some of the window screens have gaps in them, so I can see how little critters can come in. We noticed that some areas of the place (under the beds, top of the refrigerator and window ledges) needed to be cleaned.
