What a beautiful house to share with my ohana. House was big enough for multiple generations to stay and feel comfortable. My 75 yr old mom’s favorite start of the day was walking around the yard, watching the sunrise and then using the fresh fruit as part of our breakfast. For the younger generations, it was close enough to walk to downtown and go to the shops, down town concert, and farmers market. Loved our stay.
Beautiful property very close to Hilo Town. We loved exploring the variety of fruit trees on the property and watching wild life from the lanai. Our friends and family said it was a trip to remember.
The house is really cool in a beautiful location. The kids loved running around the trees and lawn looking for geckos and fruit. We really enjoyed our stay.
Spacious house full of character, built in 1926, located in a great area. Perfect for a large family. Lovely garden and fully equipped kitchen for home cooking. Please keep in mind that the house is from 1926, so it has some age-related features. I would recommend replacing the stovetop, as the old-style burners no longer fit properly into place, which can be inconvenient when cooking. However, there is a great new oven in the house, and we used it regularly.
Overall we were pretty happy with the property. Check in was smooth. The layout of the bedrooms is a little weird. The bedroom with the two twin beds requires you to have to walk through another bedroom to get to the bathroom. Nothing we couldn't get over. The kitchen sick had a leak coming from the inside the cabinet, but they got someone out pretty quick to take a look at it. The house is old and has a lot of charm. We loved the screened in porch. It was a great way to start the day. Would definitely stay here again.
We, a family of 8 (6 adults, two teens) loved the location from which it was easy to walk downtown. This house was built in 1926 and some things could use a little TLC. Around some of the handles on the kitchen cabinets it appeared dirty, There was peeling paint on the cabinet in the middle bath. In addition the hot water faucet at the sink in that same bathroom was nonfunctioning. Because of bugs in a damp climate guests are requested to seal all wet compost in a ziplock bag and store in the freezer, but no ziplocks were provided. For a group our size it would have been nice to have a large fry pan.
the house was a lovely historic house. Situated slightly outside of Hilo town, yet close to everything. Perfect for a large family group.

A few hiccups but the commincation was good and we got things resolved. Beautiful plantation house and grounds. Very private and lots of room for a family of 7.
Very relaxing! Close to town. But feels like your living the Hawaiian life in the country! Loved pickings and enjoying fresh fruit. House was clean. love loved the architecture of the authentic Hawaiian home! Some updates needed in master bath and kitchen. But overall we really enjoyed our stay! Thanks

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Cute older home overlooking Hilo Bay. The house was a little stuffy when we first arrived, but we opened all the windows and never had to think about it again. The yard was great for the kids to run around, and the large kitchen was perfect for cooking some meals at the house. The pots and pans could use a refresh though. Overall, it was a great place to stay on the calmer side of the island.
Great property with lots of space. The screened porch was the most used space. Lots of fruit trees on the property. Only a short distance to downtown with lots of shops and restaurant options.
This house worked perfectly for our extended family vacation. The huge kitchen was great for many cooks working together and the grill and outdoor seating area was a valuable addition which we enjoyed immensely. We would stay here again. Sunrise and coffee on the lanai was a special quiet time for my husband and me before the rest of the crew got up. We loved this spot.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The Amau'ulu Plantation Managers Home is like going back into Hawaii history. Spacious rooms, huge kitchen and a massive yard offer a family a comfortable stay. Minutes from downtown Hilo where there are great local food restaurants and great shopping. Hilo is the Hawaii from the past where the meaning of aloha still lives.
We left property second night in. Checked in to hotel. No A/C ! Impossible to sleep. Termites on bed, mattress saggy, condemned label on window. Stunning physically, needs restoration. Terrible experience.
Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was very clean. I was very happy with the location. I was more than satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Had a very lovely stay at this location. Generally a very quiet area, with just some noise from the road once in a while. Fairly clean as well, although there were a couple of pillows that we were unable to use because they were covered in mold, and one of the showers wasn't entirely clean. Other than that, the view and the porch made up for it!
Clean and beautiful, close to everything
Worth Going Back to. I will miss the view from the kitchen. So very little time! Next time, if there will be a next time, a 7 night stay!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Hilo is a quaint town and this home fits right in. It is a beautiful country home walking distance to downtown Hilo. There is soooo much good things to say about this property. First off we had 7 people in our party and it was very spacious with its 4 bedrooms, huge living room and huge screened in lanai. Some days we had our meals in the kitchen with a gorgeous view of Hilo Bay. Some days on the lanai enjoying the beautiful weather. We explored the huge backyard and found bread fruit trees, avocado trees and a papaya tree. Also, my dad uses a walker so nice that it had a ramp for him to get into the home and a handicap shower too. We will definitely be back to My Hilo Home!!!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We had an amazing time at this vacation rental. Very large home and property. Very peaceful, had everything we needed. The kitchen was the biggest kitchen we ever saw. We loved it. Would definitely stay there again. Had to deal with a lot of gnats, ants, and a couple of centipedes, but thats expected in Hawaii and the area we were in.
We really enjoyed our stay in the beautiful home. The kitchen and view were sensing and extremely well equipped with everything we could need. So much attention to detail to make a comfortable stay.
The house was charming. The screen porch was a great place to hang out and relax.
It was a lovely house to spend nearly 2 weeks in. We thoroughly enjoyed staying here. We picked lots of fruit from the property, lounged on the lanai, and had fun watching the planes and geckos eating insects. The large yard was very nice to have young children use up some energy. The proximity to the downtown and beaches, while still being 'out of town,' was excellent.
Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The house was charming place to stay with lots of space, beautiful deck with views and a birdwatcher's delight. It was out of the way, but close to town and right up the road were waterfalls. Very peaceful and clean.
Rating Details: The property manager was more than helpful. The vacation rental was very clean. I was very happy with the location. I was more than satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We enjoyed staying in this plantation home. The location in Hilo was close to everything. It was clean, and well stocked with kitchen supplies. The beds were comfortable. It was clean, except for a huge ant problem in the second bath that made it almost unusable. We did understand that bugs are part of that environment. We really enjoyed the huge lanai and spent a lot of time there. The property was large and enjoyable to walk around. The cleaning people showed up early, well before our check out time and asked them to return later. They assumed that they could hang out on the lanai til then, however the screen door was locked. They then sat on the front steps for awhile. We assume this was a miscommunication but still inappropriate.

Herby the cat was very friendly.
Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The four of us LOVED the Hilo home. I went into the backyard & picked an orange 🍊 off the tree & two ripe lemons from underneath the tree. The beds were clean & comfortable. No A/C, No problem really! The climate in Hilo is very nice & perfect for open windows. The house is about 3 minutes from Downtown Hilo. Don’t stay in a hotel. Stay at the Hilo House.
We just wrapped up our wedding and wanted a few quiet days with family to unwind from all the festivities. This house was unique, large enough for our family of 5 adults & 2 kids, great views and a bit quirky/historical in All the best ways. My only critique is that while there are lots of eating tables in different areas, there isn’t one big enough for everyone to sit at if you have a group bigger than 4.
I can’t say enough about the amazing plantation house! Our daughter and her family joined us for part of our stay. We spent evenings in the large screened in porch, enjoying the skies and all the fun night sounds. Even the frogs😉 loved the little black and white cat that visited us daily! The location was ideal for us as well. Able to drive to the volcano park easily. And along to coast to Waimea We would definitely recommend My Hilo House!
We loved staying at this lovely vacation home. It was clean, comfortable and cozy! So much Hilo charm. Huge space, especially loved the wrap around screened-in porch. We hope to return in the future.
A very spacious plantation house with character and charm. Well-equipped kitchen with lots of prep space. Little bit of noise from traffic on the road, but otherwise lovely and quiet. Pleasant outdoor lanai to enjoy the lush gardens. Minor suggestions: the grill could use a clean and some paintwork needs to be done in the kitchen and bathrooms. Overall, a great place to stay on the outskirts of Hilo with a view of the harbor.
Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: the house was perfect for our ohana. we loved playing frisbee in the yard & being able to walk in to town. the only challenge was having to access the main bathroom thru either bedroom.
This place is huge! Lots of space for our family of 5 adults. The lanai is amazing! The lanai is netted so you can sit comfortably outside. There is a couch and table with chairs on the lanai. The house is older and the floors do creak, which is part of the charm of the house. Unfortunately it rained the whole time so we could not explore the grounds. The frogs singing at night was definitely a great Hawaiian experience. The place is really close to restaurants and shopping. Area around the house felt safe. Any questions we had were answered quickly. Would definitely recommend this place!
