Ultimate Haleakala Volcano Sunset Tour

Overview

We offer this exclusive opportunity to experience one of the island's most breathtaking attractions in an unforgettable day. Why is this such a must-do? Only six companies on Maui have the special permits required to enter Haleakala National Park, and we're proud to be one of them! Experience the authentic beauty of Maui's vast, otherworldly volcanic terrain while witnessing one of nature's most spectacular displays - a sensational sunset from the summit of the "House of the Sun." While Haleakala's summit offers spectacular sunset viewing, Mother Nature determines visibility conditions. Cloud cover can occasionally obscure sunset views, making each clear evening all the more magical. Regardless of visibility, the summit experience creates unforgettable memories rain or shine. Don't miss out on this rare opportunity to see the island in all its glory!

  • Ascend to the summit of Maui's magnificent dormant volcano for the ultimate vacation highlight at Haleakala National Park, reaching 10,023 feet above sea level in this spectacular must do on Maui experience. As one of only six permitted companies authorized to offer Haleakala tours, we provide exclusive access to witness breathtaking sunrises that have inspired visitors since the 1800s, explore the otherworldly volcanic crater landscape, and discover rare endemic silversword plants found nowhere else on Earth. This extraordinary Haleakala National Park adventure combines stunning volcanic vistas, unique high-altitude ecosystems, and the unforgettable experience of standing atop Maui's sacred volcano, making it an essential vacation highlight that showcases the raw natural power and beauty that defines the Hawaiian Islands. • The magnificent Haleakala Crater is an awe-inspiring geological wonder that stretches 11.25 miles across, 3.2 miles wide, and plunges nearly 2,600 feet deep, creating one of the world's most spectacular volcanic landscapes. The Pa Ka'oao Trail (also known as White Hill Trail) is a short 0.4-mile walk that starts at the visitor parking lot and leads to an elevated overlook offering breathtaking views of the crater floor. This mini hike is just half a mile and well worth the effort, providing visitors with an exceptional vantage point to truly appreciate the massive scale and otherworldly beauty of the crater. The views from atop this conical mound are significantly better than those from the visitor center, making it an ideal way for tour guests to experience the raw volcanic power and stark beauty that defines Haleakala's "house of the sun" landscape. • Dubbed "Science City," the Haleakalā High Altitude Observatory was erected in 1958 due to the optimal viewing conditions the shield volcano possesses, where a near-absence of light pollution, as well as the high-altitude air and height, render it one of the most superb and valuable planetariums in the world. The Haleakalā Observatory, also known as the Haleakalā High Altitude Observatory Site, is Hawaii's first astronomical research observatory and spans 18 acres at 10,000 feet above sea level, operated and managed by the University of Hawaii. While visitors can view the observatory complex from the Haleakala Summit and visitor center, the facility itself is dedicated to groundbreaking astronomical research that continues to advance our understanding of the universe from this pristine high-altitude location. (30 mins)
  • Experience a Breathtaking Sunset: Marvel at the spectacular sunset from the very top of Maui at 10,023 feet elevation, where a sensational display of dazzling light and breathtaking colors creates an unforgettable finale to your Maui adventure. (90 mins)
