• This peninsula was originally made from lava and is known best for being one of Hawaii's major taro farm growing regions. Guests will explore the tide pools formed by the lava, meet a retired circus donkey, and visit an old church made of lava rocks. The church was built in 1865 and is one of the few buildings left after the tsunami in 1946. (30 mins)
• Hidden Hike to Waterfalls and Ponds: Guests will be taken to one of the many hidden hikes known mostly by locals. The guides practice good etiquette and only take guests to hidden areas when there are no other locals already enjoying that spot. (60 mins)
• Upper Waikani Falls cascades from a height of seventy feet to Wailua Nui Stream down below, its splash alone compelling drivers from around the globe to stop and snap a pic—and leading to its designation as one of the most popular waterfalls in the Hawaiian Islands. (5 mins)
• Easy access to waterfalls with all the amenities you’d want for a stop along the Road to Hana! Not only do they have parking, but they also have bathrooms and covered picnic tables with a view. (15 mins)
• Pulling off here gives you a rare perspective of a Maui waterfall: From the highway bridge, you’ll be looking directly down on the plunge where it drops into a pool below. It’s quite the photo op, though the waterfall varies with rainfall and is sometimes dry. (5 mins)

• The dark red sand at Kōkī Beach was produced by the nearby cinder cone hill of Ka Iwi O Pele, meaning “bones of Pele.” According to Hawaiian legend, Kōkī Beach is where the volcano goddess Pele fought her final battle with her older sister, Namakaokaha’i, the goddess of the ocean. Pele’s bones were stacked along the Kōkī shoreline and her spirit traveled to Kilauea of Big Island. (30 mins)
• The sand at Hamoa Beach is what dreams are made of. This silky sand runs into the ocean, which means you won't be walking on volcanic rock or knife-sharp coral. This stunning beach comes with the added perk of public bathrooms and showers, which is a luxury most Maui beaches don't come with. (60 mins)
• Private Black Sand Beach: There are several black sand beaches along the southeast cost of Maui that are mostly know by locals. Most of the time, guests will get to enjoy these beaches privately. A change of clothes with bright colors may contrast well with the black sand. (30 mins)
• Private Pond: The name will not be mentioned because most readers should not be attempting to access this spot without a local guide. Writings by irresponsible guidebooks and websites have resulted in visitors getting seriously injured. That said, this is a spectacular jewel of the Hana coastline. The guide will assess each group to determine whether or not to stop here. (60 mins)
• Cascading approximately 80 feet down the side of a lush jungle wall into to a lovely plunge pool, this is easily one of Maui's most accessible and majestic falls. The guide may decide to pass by without stopping due to time or congestion. (5 mins)
• Kaupo aka "backside" is a small remote town located on the southeast side of Maui, beyond Hana town and Kipahulu. It is a rugged and untouched place that looks as though it has been frozen in time, due its lack of residential development and infrastructure. Kaupo’s remote location and lack of access has kept Hawaiian culture intact there longer than in many other parts of Hawaii.
