Overview
If you're looking for an authentic activity of Hawaii's culture, you've found it. Come learn how we connect to our ancestral knowledge and maintain generational teachings. Indulge in a skill not commonly practiced nowadays. You'll leave with an experience unforgettable.
Itinerary
To begin, I'll demonstrate a ceremonial tradition introducing our presence and purpose on the aina (land). This practice invites the understanding of the land's sacredness and respect of its' history.
We'll take a stroll through the garden, get acquainted with the season's foliage, and pluck fresh greenery. Along the way, I'll tell you stories of several plants my family would medicinally use on me as a child. Nature hacks I use on my children today.
After picking a few garden treasures, we sit around a picnic table under a spacious pavilion and weave. All the necessary tools to design our lush findings into beautiful creations will be ready and waiting for us. I'll guide you through my easy to follow steps of how to do the Hawaiian "wili" to produce a breath taking Lei Po'o (floral crown) you won't believe you made yourself.
Build a spiritual connection to Hilo with me. You'll leave wanting to come back for more.
