6/10: Has potential. If the unit and bed linens were clean, I would have rated this place an 8/10.
Con’s:
Check-in was at 3pm. We had to wait until after 4 because the room wasn’t ready. Came back after 4 and got the package envelope, went up to the room, and the room keys weren’t in the envelope, just beach towel keys. Had to go back down for room keys.
The room was dirty. The toilet and tub had leftover “dirt” and hair from the previous guests. Fortunately I brought Clorox wipes and there was some Ajax under the sink.
The bed linens were filthy with dirt & food stains. The middle tan blanket also had ketchup or blood on it. The sheets caused us to itch but we couldn’t sleep on top of them bc the blankets again were filthy.
For the cleaning fee charged I would expect the room to be clean for my arrival.
The sleeping area room was outdated and the walls were dirty with spills from prior guests.
The room had a bad odor. There was a note written on a napkin saying sometimes there are odors from the restaurants next door.
The fridge had opened shared condiments. If you’re ok with trusting the sanitation of prior guests and using open lid condiments, there are quite a few options.
Pros:
This condo is in the perfect location. It is right beside the Whaler food court/shopping.
A few minute walk to other resorts for dining options, a luau, and calmer waters. Partial ocean view, close to the free laundry room and elevators.
Had a great time with my husband. It was perfect being next to Whalers Village. Free parking was a plus. Loved all the amenities, full kitchen, washer/dryer, beach items, hair dryer and iron. Thank you Doug for your quick responses. We would definitely love to stay again.
The location of the Whaler cannot be beat. The beaches in front of the property are awesome for snorkeling. There are excellent restaurants within walking distance eliminating the need to drive. The sunset sailboats pick you up right in front of the property as well. The unit itself had everything you need to enjoy your stay. Beach chairs, snorkeling gear, cooler, and an umbrella. This is the first time I stayed in this unit but the third time I have stayed at the whaler. Great unit and property.
It was a very nice unit. We would stay there again. The refrigerator didn’t get very cold so our water and soda wasn’t very cold. The only other downside was there was only one boogie board and it was cracked. Other than that it had everything we needed for a wonderful vacation.
Beautiful condo that is stocked with everything you could possibly need!! The Whaler is beautiful and staff are very friendly and helpful. They helped us book a dinner cruise that was spectacular!! The location is amazing. Dinner, shopping and the beach right out the door of the hotel. Amazing time !! Loved every minute of our trip!
Great little place to stay. Location is a 10, the process to book was easy, unit was clean, kitchen was stocked with dishes etc, shower had good water pressure/hot water, bed was very comfortable, everything you need is right there, beach chairs, snorkeling gear etc. Complimentary laundry just outside the entryway. Looking forward to coming back - Thank you for a great stay!

Location is great, easy access to the beach. The brita filter in the fridge was moldy and hadn't been cleaned recently. We drank the water and that was not a pleasant experience.Flushing the toilet was a bit weird as well.
The unit had a large bump in the carpet through the middle of the unit. My wife got up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom and trip over it and her small toe was injured. This made the rest of our trip very uncomfortable as her foot was swollen and bruised in addition to her small toe being very painful and getting al large blood blister. The day of checkout the maid beat on our door at 10:25 am and wanted to come in the room and start cleaning. She stated that there were guests waiting to stay. We asked her what time checkout was and she said 11am. We asked her to come back then. When I went to the front desk to checkout I noticed that there was no one waiting in the lobby and asked if someone was waiting to check in the unit. He said no. The maid also said this was her last unit and then told us she was a Lahaina fire victim and accepted donations. Not a good experience to end our vacation.

The Whaler was in a very accessible location for walking to local venues. The suite was spacious with all the items you needed to enjoy your time. Pool and ocean items, and complete kitchen with all appliances and dishes. Access to the hot tub and pool. We would definitely consider this location again and have recommended it to many friends since our return. Thank you so much.

The property is on one of the best beaches in Maui. The studio is nice and has a partial view of the ocean. There is a lot to do and see close by. I highly recommend a stay. You will have a wonderful experience.

Condo was clean, up to date and comfortable. Well stocked with what we needed for our stay such as a sun umbrella (resort charges $45.00 per day to rent one) swim noodles and beach chairs. Location is perfect very short walk to the beach. Resort staff friendly and helpful.
We were very happy with our stay and our accommodations, it was great for the two of us.
We had dinner a few nights down at the BBQ’s for a some home cooked meals. It is wonderful to have coffee on the lanai before heading down to the beach. It was great having snorkel gear available as well as chairs and umbrellas. So thoughtful.

You cannot beat the Whaler's location on Kaanapali Beach because it is am easy walk to everything (many boat tours board on the beach just steps away.) The condo was clean and stocked with everything you could possibly want/need for cookin to save you some $. Having the use of a free washer/dryer which was just steps away was great so the next time we will bring less clothing. They do have snorkeling gear but no way to tell if the snorkels have been cleaned/sanitized (there was sand on and in the masks/snorkels so I assumed not) so best to at least do a hot water & dish soap dunk and rinse before use or bring your own snorkel/mask and use their fins to save space in your luggage. There is a peak view of the ocean from the lanai to enjoy coffee and breakfast from. We also did some cooking on the BBQs available at the resort. As others have said, there is noise on the lanai from the retaurant next door, mainly delivery truck back-up beepers to the loading zone and restaurant workers cleaning/talking in the morning. The AC unit noise is there but it was actually more like a nice white noise to me. We were up early everyday so noise didn't bother us, if it is an issue for you keep that in mind. We would re-book again as this unit has it all to make for a relaxing vacation. 10 out of 10.
Could not have asked for better accommodations!! This is a little gem in the heart of Kaanapali Beach!! Love the history of this location.
Room was exactly as described and more. Rental process and check-in was smooth and easy. Would highly recommend and we wouldn’t hesitate to stay there again.
This property was so much better than advertised. It is very large for a studio and so well stocked with kitchen supplies, beach supplies and area information. The property is in the best location on a gorgeous beach. Whalers is the best. We feel so blessed to have rented this space for our time in Maui. Great location and spectacular condo!

The condo worked well for our needs. The only down side is that restaurant beside the condo starts getting deliveries very early in the morning, so it is a little bit noisy.
We love staying at the Whaler. And this trip was no different. The room and property is wonderful. Staff is always friendly. Accommodations were clean and welcoming. Great vacation!!!

We love the Whaler and Kaanapali beach which is only a few feet away. This studio is perfect for two people. It is nicely furnished and has everything you need for a great vacation. We have stayed in this unit twice and will do so again.

Right in the middle of everything Kaanapali is famous for! And our studio had everything you could possibly want to have handy for fun! Very well stocked!

Really enjoyed our stay. I loved the view and being able to hear the ocean from the patio. It was a great location next to Whalers Village and quick bus ride to Lahaina . The condo was well stocked with dishes and all kinds of cookware . Condo was very clean.Washer and drier just outside in the hall .
Our flight didn’t leave until late in the evening and they let us store our luggage and were able to use the pool and an available shower if we needed the whole day even after checking out . There was free coffee in the morning and iced tea and water available in the lobby and at the pool all day . It was a wonderful location so close to the beach . I would definitely recommend and would definitely stay there again.
Location is conveniently located close to restaurants, etc. Nice that they provided chairs and umbrellas for the beach. Refrigerator, stove, dishes, and utensils was also available. Rate does not include resort fee ($25 plus taxes). Nice TV with Netflix, but other furniture was very old. Shower curtain liner should have been replaced.
