Ok... this is long, and I'm not sure if I would pick this unit again.
Family of 4 --- 3 Islands --- 12 full days --- last stop
This unit could have been ABSOLUTELY AMAZING with the correct updating:
1-THE MATTRESS ON THE MAIN BED MUST GO! (NEG stars)
2-The bathroom needs a VERY DEEP cleaning. (0 stars)
3-PATIO furniture needs to be replaced with furniture appropriate for the space, because the patio is almost useless with what is has now... all it needs is 4 smaller chairs with side tables....maybe a couple of foot stools. We could not all sit together on the patio and enjoy the view because it is so narrow, and we had to keep rotating in and out to just move around, it was very frustrating. THAT TABLE JUST NEEDS TO GO IN THE TRASH... IT IS USELESS, just way too big. (1 star just for anything being there)
4-Family with young adult children., we wanted something cheap ON THE BEACH at Waikiki, and this location is PERFECT (5+++ stars)
I can overlook a lot at the right price, but I cannot go without sleep and be happy about anything. This was the WORST mattress we have EVER tried to sleep on! It is an old spring mattress, about 6 inches with OLD worn-out springs. Not only was it VERY uncomfortable, it was so noisy that you absolutely could not move without waking everyone in the unit! The second night, my husband and I trading spaces with our young adult children and slept on the pullout, if this tells you anything (and the pull-out was just a tad better, 3 inch worn-out foam) We were just miserable the first night, and my kids were like..... omgoodness! LOL! NO ONE slept!
With a new mattress, a good cleaning and the right patio furniture, I would be back in a heartbeat, and would pay more for the unit! This unit just has sooooo much potential that is wasted... really sad.
BONUS- I just can't say enough about this location! We could walk just a few blocks for anything we needed... and the beach walks were amazing.... it really is a perfect location. Everyone we meet was very nice and the building is so small that there is just not much noise, or many people. Elevators were very accessible., and stairs as well.
This cold easily be a 5+++ Unit.
We had a great time at this condo. The location was terrific: close to the action but quiet.
The staff at Castle Waikiki Shores is top notch. They care and were delightful to work with on every one of our questions and concerns before and during our weeklong stay. The location is ideal and it is easy to park and coming "home" to a slice of beach after our busy days was the best. The lanai overlooking the DeRussy Park was lovely and the condo exceeded our expectations. Having laundry in our unit was super helpful for the type of trip we were on and we will stay here again.
