This condo is exactly as described. It is on the 4th floor (top floor) with a nice porch overlooking the pool and views of the ocean. It is well equipped with lots of nice beach chairs, beach/pool towels, plenty of dishes and flatware, bbq tools, nice wine glasses and even travel coffee cups which was an unexpected surprise and we actually used!! Walking distance to a nice shopping center with market, a shave ice store, and Slappy Cakes (fun breakfast). Carol was so nice and reached out during our stay to make sure everything was working for us. This place is a gem and we hope to return again soon!
Everything was well maintained. A couple of issues were promptly attended to. Owner very responsive. View fantastic. BBQs also well maintained so we made good use of them. I would consider staying here again.

This property is an absolute gem! Clean, well stocked kitchen, beautiful ocean view, comfy beds, cool air conditioning and a great resort. One of our favorite parts of this VRBO is that we could sit on our balcony and whale watch every morning. If you’re looking to get away from the hustle and bustle, but still experience the Kaanapali area, this is your place. Carol was the best VRBO host you could ever ask for. She’s very knowledgeable and helpful about things to do in the area, and quick to respond to any questions. She also accommodated us with a later check out since we had a late flight time. Thank Carol for an amazing stay at Papakea. We look forward to coming back again soon!
The condo was clean, well stocked with all the essentials including bonus items like beach towels, beach chairs and coolers which we used during our stay! The property was beautiful and the location was fantastic - a short drive to amazing snorkeling and just minutes from a grocery store, and a variety of food options. It was the perfect home base for us to use as we explored the island. We had five in our group, including 3 adult kids. We had plenty of space and beds to comfortably fit us all. And the lanai - WOW! It was stunning to start each morning eating breakfast with that view. We also really appreciated the excellent communications we received by the owner prior and during our stay. Thank you for providing a beautiful spot for us to stay and enjoy Maui!
On our first day, a property owner walked by us and said "don't tell anyone about this place, it's a secret." I get it now. You will love Papakea, and Carol is an excellent, communicative host. We had the best time as a family staying at this condo, and the views really are as shown in photos. The place was so comfortable and well stocked with everything we needed to make our Maui vacation the most memorable one ever.
My family loved our stay at this beautiful condo! This was our 4th time at Papakea, we love the location and property and cannot say enough about Unit K404 and working with Carol. The views are spectacular and everything about this condo was perfect. First of all it was immaculate upon check-in. It had everything we could possibly need. The best stocked kitchen we have ever had and loved having an ice maker! Carol is an amazing host! Communication of any kind is immediate. She even offered a late check-out if possible… it was and since our flight wasn’t until 6:15 made our last day in Maui so much better. I would recommend this condo to anyone coming to Maui, it is a magical place!!

My two friends and I stayed for 6 nights at this lovely property. Carol, the owner was so easy to work with, and assisted with getting us early access to the condo which was much appreciated. The kitchen was well-stocked and everything was super clean. The front desk staff were very helpful and gave us several excellent restaurant recommendations. The grounds were beautiful, very-well kept. We enjoyed the pool and one night there was a complimentary happy hour. The location could not be beat--so close to the sea--wall, allowing you to watch the waves and experience beautiful sunsets. You could walk in just a few minutes to the next resort, and swim at their beach--plus enjoy delicious drinks at their bar. All in all, it was a wonderful stay--oh, and parking was a breeze! This was our first time to Maui and this was a wonderful condo with all the amenities we needed! The view was unbelievable! we didn’t have any issues and would stay here again!
My husband and I invited our four grown children to make family memories on Maui. Carol‘s place was amazing! It’s not easy to gather all of your grown children into one place, but it worked out perfectly with plenty of space for everyone and so much to do within walking distance. Everyone had a wonderful time! Thank you, Carol for such a very clean, very well stocked home. We enjoyed every minute. Especially waking up to the waves and the incredible view. A week that will be etched on my heart.
It's hard to believe such a beautiful place exists, but it does! Papakea K404 is exactly as it looks in photos, and we were happy with our stay! Also it's within walking distance to a grocery store, so that was a bonus!
First of all, the property was wonderful with a great location! Phenomenal ocean view and right above the pool which was great for my kids. The property manager was very easy to communicate with and extremely helpful. The condo was a good size with plenty of space. Very clean and great water pressure in showers. Walkout to the ocean and just down the road from several beaches, restaurants and stores. Overall very pleased!
This was our family’s first time in Maui, but it definitely won’t be our last. This location was perfect for us. Lots of fun, water sports, golf, and fine dining all close by. Kanapali beach close by had lots of great activities for the family, including some cliff diving for my more adventurous kid. The views from the deck of this condo are like a postcard, especially at sunset. With a view of the pool, we were also able to watch the kids swim and play shuffleboard. We also played pickleball ball and cornhole all on site. I can’t say enough good things about our time a Papakea. Thanks Carol.
Our stay was wonderful! And the property was perfect! Our family of four, with two teenage daughters, traveled in early July to celebrate our oldest graduating high school. Each of our daughters brought a friend. All of us enjoyed ourselves! The property had private spaces for each pair and fit the six of us just fine. Not only was the resort beautiful, it had so much to do! From swimming, tennis, pickleball, shuffleboard, corn hole, and plenty of grass areas for walking, to a convenience store immediately off grounds, you’re sure to find something to do! The property owner was not only communicative, but very accommodating! The unit’s a/c worked nicely, offered multiple smart TVs for watching shows late at night, & wifi to stay connected as needed. A wide variety of Food trucks are also just off the grounds which was super convenient! There were plenty of towels in the unit, chairs, umbrellas, coolers, and a washer/dryer as well. View from balcony facing the swimming pool & ocean! Perfect for sipping your morning coffee or evening drink! We really had zero complaints! We would definitely book again! Papakea was lovely & K404 won’t disappoint!
My family and I just spent 10 days in this wonderful condo. Everything was just as listed. The condo was spacious, clean and had everything we needed. The AC in the bedrooms and living area was cold and made our stay very comfortable.The grounds at Papakea are so well manicured and perfect for every families needs. Carol was easy to reach from beginning to end and made sure to check in with us during our stay. We will definitely be back!
This was my third time to Maui but first time to Papakea and it did not disappoint. I came with my husband, two kids and mother in law - we had plenty of room to sleep and spread out in this unit. The view from this condo is absolutely breathtaking - morning, day and night. Since Hawaii with children means daily breaks and downtime in between the ocean, pool and adventures, this condo was the perfect place to stay. Why? Because we got to soak in the island vibes and relax while in the kitchen, living room and lanai. We had that Hawaii feel 24 hours a day - priceless! Papakea is very kid and family friendly with two pools, two hot tubs, two koi fish ponds, put put golfing, tennis, shuffleboard, corn hole and more. The property is beautifully situated and landscaped and walking distance to lots of amenities including groceries, coffee, food trucks, a park, shaved ice, restaurants and more. Condo owner Carol was very communicative and helpful and made booking and staying an easy process. We would ABSOLUTELY book her place again and hope to in the near future!! Mahalo!
My daughter and I truly enjoyed this wonderful property. Everything was so convenient and close we were able to walk to restaurants grocery store and everything that we needed. The view off the balcony and in the master bedroom is truly amazing. We were able to see some whales right off of the balcony. The beds were extremely comfortable, and the unit was stocked very well. We could not have asked for more.

We spent 10 days at Papakea resort. Had a great view of the ocean and pool area from our patio. We walked to the nearby beach to watch the sunsets. Beds were comfortable. Unit was super clean. Beach trails and restaurants nearby - within walking distance. Some activities at the resort for the kids (shuffleboard, putt putt golf, pickleball).
We’ve stayed in 7 different condos on Maui so far and this was by far our favorite! It was stocked with everything we needed, had very spacious rooms and great AC, amazing WiFi, and the a heated pool (the kids swam in it every morning and every night because it would glow at night!!) we loved this property and Carol was very quick to respond if we had any questions!
Our stay at the Papakea Penthouse in Maui was spectacular! The breathtaking view of the ocean from the condo (especially the primary guest room and the main living area!) created a serene and memorable experience for our whole family. Falling asleep to the sound of the waves added a touch of paradise to each day. The location was perfect, being next to a store for essentials and only a couple of short blocks from a variety of restaurants offering excellent dining options (and food trucks!). The overall ambiance, attention to detail, and thoughtful amenities made our stay truly wonderful. There were many beach chairs, and even coolers were an excellent added touch. We would unquestionably choose to stay at this property again for its perfect blend of relaxation and convenience, not to mention that the owner and resort managers were accommodating and helpful! We can't wait to go back!
The condo is pictured accurately to reflect the home. The view is beautiful. We enjoyed the tennis courts, mini golf, and shuffle board. The pools are nice and the grounds are well kept. There is no beach (which we knew) but we missed that nonetheless.
I would say that the furnishings and contents (towels etc) of the condo could use an update/refresh. We were a family of 4 who stayed 11 days. We had to buy basics such as paper products (toilet paper, napkins, and paper towels) because there was a very limited supply which was disappointing and annoying given the overall cost of the stay. I expect to have enough of those items on site to last the length of our visit. There was also nothing extra such as saran wrap, foil, or even salt/pepper, etc...so, plan to buy all of those things at the store. We also would have liked a coffee bean grinder which they did not have although there is plenty of room in the cabinets for such.
Overall, we were comfortable and enjoyed our stay, especially the view. However, I would rate this a 3.5 -4 star unit as compared to other places that we have stayed on the Hawaiian islands.
