This home is in a quiet, friendly neighborhood and right on the ocean. It provides a wonderful, relaxing retreat that is not far from Hilo and other major big island attractions. So glad we chose to stay here.
We loved so many things about this home and property! The home is beautiful and well stocked and the yard and beach cliffs are exquisite! We spent lots of time on the lanai watching the ocean (we saw dolphins and turtles from there!) I definitely recommend listening to the recording of the nighttime frog noises in the listing so you know what to expect because you must sleep with windows open for cooling. Its location is great for lots of different big island adventures: Volcano National Park, Kaumana lava tubes, Akaka Falls park & Kolekole gorge, snorkeling and sea turtles at Richardson Beach Park, black sand Punalu’u Beach.
We even took a day and went over to top-rated Hāpuna beach and Waipi’o Valley—long drive but totally worth it. We took many beautiful photos of each other in this gorgeous yard and on these ocean cliffs! Sunrise is beautiful!
Property manager was so helpful in getting us into the home when the door code didn’t work. The sea turtles and dolphins were the best surprise! We loved the view of the cliffs. Only drawback is no AC even with all the fans but they had so many items ready for a vacation outside, we didn’t mind too much.
Loved the place and location - beds were comfortable, attic fan was powerful (brought in ocean breeze making nites comfortable), and appliances and grill were pluses. There were just a few minor issues.1) on arrival, the door code was in error. We were able to get to Vacasa and they told us where a backup key was available. 2) they asked about how things were going after arrival, we said the remote tv batteries were dead and I offered to buy new ones. They said no, they would have them dropped off. The next day, they asked if dropping them off the following day was okay, I responded again, and no one came. We’re checking out today. It wouldn’t have been so bad if there was more than one tv or if they said “thanks for my offering to buy new ones, that would be fastest.”3) the network name and password on the welcome card was wrong, But Vacasa listed an alternative.4) we bought bottled water to be safe, as two documents were received. One said don’t drink the filtered water, and another said it’s fine.5) the view is phenomenal, but a caution about safety walking on the lava rock wall might be a reasonable thought.

It is a well-kept property. We really enjoyed the sunrise and the view from the terrace.You do need a car and it is quite far from all amenities, but if you don't mind, it is really a nice place to stay. The beds are comfy, we didnt need aircon, as there was always a breeze, only at night, the mosquitoes can be a little annoying outside, but all windows have mosquitoe nets.Lighting could have been a bit better in the second bathroom, but that is complaining on a high level. We would definitely recommend it for couples.
Lovely home on quiet street. This home is nestled at the back edge of the enormous neighborhood of HPP. It is directly on the ocean cliffs with dramatic views of the ocean. The whole house opens up to let in the cooling breezes and sounds of crashing waves. The home is very well equipped (kitchen, laundry and comfy beds) and lots of privacy but a short drive to grocery stores or downtown Hilo.
This is the second time weve stayed in HPP. This was a wonderful house. Very comfortable and CLEAN. Would stay here again.
The perfect oceanfront retreat awaits! This home has a wonderful covered patio that runs the length of the ocean side of the home. It’s a perfect place to hang out in the shade and take in the spectacular view. The home is nicely furnished and very comfortable and family-friendly. The owners were incredible helpful and responsive. Highly recommended!!

The view was amazing! The house was very clean and comfortable, and it had everything we needed to make a nice dinner. The neighborhood was peaceful, quiet, and beautiful. We would definitely stay here again.
We had 4 adults in our group and there was plenty of space for everyone. Bedrooms are a good size, and had plenty of storage for our things. The house was very clean and comfortable. It had everything you would need in a vacation rental. The wifi went out a few times, but that didn't matter. The house did get warm but the house fan did an okay job of cooling. The view and location are what put this house over the top! There is nothing like the waves crashing into the cliff!
Absolutely stunning views of the ocean, porch was a perfect place for sun bathing and meditating. We came to celebrate our engagement. We loved hiking to celebrate the State Shipman Park, swam with turtles at the Shipment park ocean.
Although we loved the privacy, we also enjoyed the local bar and Restaurant with local bands playing on weekends with delicious local foods. I would return to celebrate my anniversary.
The amenities were wonderful, full kitchen to large bathrooms, large living room and a work office space was so nice to have.

This is was a great place to use as home base while on vacation. It is a simple house with plenty of space for everyone. I would definitely book this place again.
We had 2 adults snd 2 teenagers. The house was absolutely wonderful. We spent every evening on the wrap around porch. Loved our visit to Volcano National park, waterfalls, and the hike off of Beach Rd. to Shipman Beach. The house was well equipped and we were able to grocery shop close by. Would stay again if we ever visit Hilo in the future.
Nice little house for +/-6, awesome view, highly recommend driving gov beach rd SE of Hawaiian Beaches neighborhood. Inexpensive for what you get. Had trouble getting in on arrival (door was dead bolted) but a call to customer service set us straight with no delay. I’d stay in a Vacasa managed property again.
This home was perfect for our stay. Whale watching from the lanai was a treat!
While the interior was a bit dated and beds not too comfy, the views were outstanding. Sunrise never got old even on a cloudy or rainy morning. We’d choose this again if we return to the big island.
