We had a wonderful stay. The location is amazing and peaceful. The accommodations, although not luxurious, were cozy and comfortable. It was just what we were looking for, a great get-away.
Usually to rent a great oceanside property you have to go four or five bedrooms and up, or settle in a condo. This is a beautiful, comfortable and very well-appointed 2-bedroom cottage directly on Makena Bay, very convenient to shopping, dining and all activities Maui but private and ultra-quiet at night. The views are obviously spectacular, and green sea turtles abounded in the water directly off the deck. Eric and Camille are skilled and respectful hosts. We thoroughly enjoyed our week at Makena Cottage and would go back in an instant.
If you want something Special, stay at this property. If you want to be close to the water, stay at this property.

This is our 4th time staying at Makena Cottage, so it’s long been a preferred destination. We loved it before, and the recent updates have upped the wow factor. The house is fully equipped and beautifully decorated. The lanai is our usual hangout spot to watch turtles, sunsets, waves, and whales.
This home is a wonderful retreat from every day hustle and bustle. It is perfectly located so close to activities, etc. yet secluded from the resort crowds. The sunsets and stargazing cannot be beat, either!
First of all the location could not have been better, with turtles literally grazing in the rocky cove a few feet from the deck. A short 2 minute walk and you have access to one of the nicest snorkeling and kayaking bays in Maui, and just a few minutes in the other direction a great swimming beach. House was well equipped and comfortable. Bedrooms were small and not much sound-proofing between them but since there were only two of us it didn’t matter. Hot tub on the deck was an added bonus. There was some construction noise during the day but wasnt intolerable. New home behind may eventually impact the privacy of the hot tub but I’m sure owners will figure out how to restore privacy.
Just the place we need for a vacation in Maui to regroup and energize after a long year. Thank you!

The cottage is everything one would expect and more. It was a totally wonderful experience, a little piece of paradise. A terrific place to just sit back and relax and enjoy Makena.
