We enjoyed the updated suite and the beautiful partial ocean view from our deck. We had everything we needed within the suite including sand toys, snorkels, beach chairs and more all provided complimentary within the suites storage bin on the deck. Kitchen was fully stocked and extra towels and bathroom supplies were helpful with young children! We would stay here again!
The location of Sugar Beach Resort is amazing!! Pros:- it has an ocean view and a bonus view on the outside wall as it's a corner unit!- the kitchen is updated with newer appliances- beautiful, large kitchen island- gorgeous view of the property and the beach!- a fridge with an ice-maker!Cons:- many of the extra things were found broken during our stay unfortunately (1. the deck box - all the sides were coming off. 2. the beach umbrella didn't work. 3. one of the beach chairs was in very rough shape and needed to have a part re-installed every time we used it. 4. the lock on the cooler was broken so it wouldn't stay closed when carrying it)- the shower leaked A LOT (just a bad design I think)- the bathroom sink drained slowly- the lanai furniture was too high for the railing, especially if you are short or have kids (major safety concern)- the condo was "good from far, far from good" - in pics it looks amazing, but in reality, it needs new paint/trim and the cupboards and drawers were not inline or not installed properly- the condo was not very clean; it looked like the floors hadn't been cleaned prior to our arrival, there were splatters in the kitchen, it was dusty, etc. Not a big deal unless you are a clean freak like me. I'm not sure if we'd stay again with all the above issues, but it did the trick for what we needed. For the price we paid, I expected a lot more pros than cons.
We loved it! Huge counter for preparing meals in kitchen. We loved the little restaurant down below, the best Reuben sandwich ever! The view from our room was amazing, although the lanai was a little small. Could have maybe been a tad bit cleaner, but that didn’t bother us much.we would definitely stay there again!
We loved our stay at the Sugar Beach Resort! The unit had everything we needed. Beach was beautiful and the pool/hot tub were refreshing/relaxing. Thank you so much for a wonderful stay!

This was our second stay at Sugar Beach Resort #502 - and we liked it just as much as the first time. The condo is nicely decorated and maintained, A/C is much appreciated, and the resort’s location and amenities are great.
The property was fantastic from top to bottom. Great location, beautiful views, and very welcoming staff. We will definitely be back!
The property is well-kept and clean. The grounds of the resort are kept well cleaned every morning. The pool is just an elevator ride away, as well as the water.
Hard to initially find the exact condo due to there being multiple buildings, and a hidden elevator.
In walking distance to an ABC store, as well as the top, shaved ice place in Maui.
Will definitely be booking this place again.

Beautiful condo to stay while exploring the incredible island of Maui
Communication was fantastic from start to finish. Unit was quiet even though next to the road. Beach & pool is beautiful & facing the sunset. Located close to highways & everything we needed nearby. Unit was comfortable for two.
Great property, not crowded, long, secluded sandy beach.
Unit was fine- a bit worn out overall however the shower was unusable and leaking ++ all over the bathroom floor and in behind the toilet, etc. We had to use all our towels to mop the floor. Property manager was quick to respond and sent us to an alternate rental but that second property was infested with cockroaches. We ended up renting a last minute hotel and only able to get $ back for the unused nights. Given the time we spent packing and unpacking and packing and unpacking and etc, and the amount of laundry we did in the first rental after mopping up the floors, we should have been compensated for all the nights we paid for. The second rental should have been inspected for cleanliness prior to sending us there. Really bad experience and have no trust in Hawaii life rentals and going forwards will be leery of vrbo in general.
Was informed one day prior to our stay, hours prior to our flight to Maui, that this condo is undergoing serious repair, had been for a while, and that the entire building was affected by these repairs and therefore not available for the 6 day period of our stay in March. Thus, the reason for my rating. Did not stay here. The hosts directly arranged for alternative housing nearby, so we're just waiting on the return of the refundable deposit. Otherwise, this property looked decent from the exterior when we passed by and saw it from both the beach and sidewalk. Didn't appear to have any ongoing repairs, but who knows.

The unit was in general clean and the AC made it comfortable. Some attention needs to be given to the shower - the open concept door creates lots of pooling water outside the shower. The towel rod also kept falling off. Some spare blankets would have been nice, and a few more towels. Overall the property was clean and comfortable.

We had a great time in paradisealthough the rain and floods did happen, the location is in a perfect place to avoidproblems from these events. The only hickup forus was the very high lanai chairs, and lack of a normal size table to eat at. The chairs at the counter could be more comfortable, and don't work well for short people. The apartment was clean, and kitchen and supplies were very much appreciated. Only regret was my 5.1 height. I was concerned about the view before we went but very pleased when we arrived. There is a beautiful view of the mountains and water in the bird sanctuary, and the ocean from the lanai.
Nice beachfront property in a central location. Comfortable and modern unit. Great lanai with partial ocean views. Washer and dryer in unit is a plus.
