We enjoyed out stay in Molokai, and the Molokai Shores property was quite lovely. The unit itself was quite dated, but it was fine for our needs and our last-minute booking.
Our only concerns were that the one bathroom area was very tight for a family of four ( including two teenage girls), plus the non-smoking rule (must be 20 feet from the property) was not enforced. We had a neighbour who would light up his cigars on his lanai several times a day, and the smoke would come into our unit. We would shut the patio door, but this was not a great solution due to the lack of AC in the condo plus the non-vented gas stove (both of which necessitated keeping the patio door open as much as possible.
To be fair, we did not pursue a complaint with the office about this, as it was more of a minor inconvenience.
Other than that, we would happily stay at the Molokai Shores again.
If you are looking for a fancy resort, then this is not the property for you. However, Molokai is probably not the island for you, either.
It’s rustic, but super comfortable. The ocean is right there in front of you. I wanted to take the same photograph every morning and every evening, because it was just so beautiful. We wish we had stayed longer.
The location and grounds are idyllic, right on the ocean with palm trees swaying in the breeze. The beautiful grounds are meticulously kept. The unit itself had several problems. First, check in procedures were never sent to me from Castle. Fortunately the condo Homeowner's Association office was open and helped me. In the unit, the entry hall and kitchen lights were out, making it difficult to see at night. It took 5 days after I informed the property management to fix the problem. We smelled gas when the oven was turned on. The screen sliding door kept falling off its tracks. Some dishes were poorly cleaned. Beautiful grounds, units are hit and miss.
We loved this place and will be back. If there could be some cleaning supplies in the rental it would be nice. Also a tea kettle
