Unit was well stocked with what we needed. The views were beautiful. Only thing I would recommend is to fix the headboard every time I moved my pillow it banged against the wall.
We've stayed at the Luana Kai a few times because we enjoy the quiet location and ocean views. The property management is very good and friendly. This unit is very nicely updated -- the kitchen and bathroom are new clean and simple. The bedroom is in the back of the unit, and we found the king size bed very comfortable (it's pretty firm, which is my preference). We didn't need the optional AC (in late March) -- there are ceiling fans in every room and the temperature stayed very comfortable for us. The unit is on the ground floor and faces the ocean, and the view is very slightly obstructed by the pickleball courts, but you have an amazing view of the water, the west Maui mountains, and the sunset. There is an active pickleball community that plays several mornings a week, so if that sounds annoying to you, you should look for a unit in a different building (the A building is probably the most secluded/quiet). Personally, I enjoyed the pickleball -- people were having fun and it brought some activity to an otherwise very quiet and chill location. The beach out front is beautiful and we've seen turtles there on past trips. This time we saw a whale breach, which was cool! It's not the best beach for swimming, although you can swim here if you want to. The water is a little bit murky in this area because of runoff from the island -- from what I've read, the murk is just due to algae/seaweed and it's not dangerous, but it's not the beautiful crystal blue water you can find elsewhere on Maui. It's still totally beautiful, so don't be discouraged unless you prefer to stay at an ideal swimming beach. It's often windy in this location, especially in the afternoon/evenings. However, the lanai is protected from the wind, so even on the windiest afternoons we could sit out on the lanai and watch the water. The wind typically dies down before the sun sets. The pool area is quite nice, and generally mellow -- occasionally kids/teenagers get loud and rowdy in the pool, but it's mostly adults reading and relaxing poolside with an ocean view. The pool is not overly chlorinated. The hot tub is nice and hot. We didn't use the barbecue grills, but lots of other guests used them. The landscaping on the property is beautiful and there were tons of birds and butterflies around. It's about a 10 minute walk or 3 minute drive to some good restaurants in the Azeka shopping center, and then another few minutes to drive down to the amazing Kama'ole beaches in Kihei.
We had a wonderful stay! We arrived after the office had closed, but after hours check in process was clear and super easy. Condo was great, clean, nicely decorated and had all we needed (coolers, beach chairs, beach towels, kitchen utensils/pots/cups, etc.
