The property manager was nice and responsive. The view and location of the condo are fantastic. We’ve been staying at Kuleana for 10 years or so, however, and this condo was our least favorite. The lack of tlc and effort put into the condo is evident. The furniture is uncomfortable and worn, the bedding and linens are worn and could use updating.The owners appear to put little effort into the condo and appear to use items that they get from thrift stores for their guests. Upon our arrival the place appeared clean however the bottoms of our feet were dirty after walking barefoot on the floors, a bathroom drawer had hair in it, the stove top had food splatter and the smoke detector was beeping. Upon contacting the property manager housekeeping returned and cleaned up the aforementioned. Upon check out maintenance had yet to replace the battery in the smoke detector. Throughout our stay the condo had an odor to it which smelled like cigarette smoke and old gas, although the owners are non-smokers, reportedly. For the cost of renting this place; all of that is unacceptable. Although this is not the owner or property manager’s fault there was another renter that was very obnoxious for most of the nights we rented. He parked right below our bedroom window and would let his jeep idle for 20-30 minutes and would then rev his jeep’s engine every time he came and went from the property; waking us up (3 am) and disturbing the peace. We would not rent this condo again!

Arrived and fridge was dirty. Furniture is outdated and uncomfortable (no foot rests or side tables for tiny couch to make it more comfortable). Bed was hard and pillows were microscopic. Location of unit close to road, but luckily white noise from air conditioning cancelled out road noise at night.
The condo is nice as described, but if you are wanting to sit on the patio and watch the whales, not likely. There is a large tree blocking your view (not the owners fault but I would have liked to know the view was "obstructed"). Great for turtle watching however. My email to the property owner about switching to another unit went unanswered, as did my message prior to our arrival inquiring if the unit had beach chairs, cooler, etc. (It did which was appreciated, but we ALMOST bought all that at Costco when we landed).
We've stayed at Kuleana several times including when our kids were young. Not so family friendly anymore. There are a couple full-timers that call security for the slightest noise - security banged on our door 2 minutes after quiet hours because we were talking on our deck. Four 70-year olds playing a dice game beside the pool were told by security to "roll the dice quieter". Kuleana must be Hawaiian for "No fun allowed". We still love it and MIGHT return, but not until exploring other options first.

This was our second stay at Kuleana. We love the gated property with private access to the beach and snorkeling. The snorkeling is fantastic. The unit is simple, but it has everything you need for comfort and relaxation. It is clean and updated. The air conditioner in the bedroom is loud, but it was very nice to cool down the room before going to bed. The fan kept it cool enough thru the night. We enjoyed meals on the lanai. Kitchen is stacked. We enjoyed the lawn chairs provided for sunsets on the lawn outside. The king bed is very comfortable. My mom slept on the fold out couch and she reported sleeping very well, enjoying the ocean sounds. We saw lots of turtles right outside feeding along the lava rocks. Beautiful birds too and my favorite plumeria tree. Neighbors are considerate and it is a very quiet place. We love it!!!

The vacation rental experience was great, as usual, except for one thing : - The floor was really dirty.We wouldn't usually care for that, but we have a little baby of 9 months travelling with us. Also, we rented another unit the week after (501) and that one was perfectly clean.

To begin, the view from the lanai' is beautiful. It directly overlooks the rocky beach (sometimes sandy beach dependent on the tide) where we watched numerous sea turtles and the occasional whale spout not too far from shore. The sunsets over Lanai' were stunning. Now on the the bad - The parking spaces are ridiculously small. If you park where the driver can exit the vehicle, the passenger can't open the door. Thus necessitating the passenger get out IN THE RAIN before parking. The unit itself is dated and in need of a renovation. Especially the bathroom and shower. There is massive amounts of black mold growing in the grout and I would hate to see what's behind the shower tiles as it is clear that water has been leaching into the walls for a LONG time. As far as amenities and kitchen equipment, the unit is pretty sparse.Location was pretty good, but not within walking distance of anything.

We loved the location of this unit. As always, the grounds and pool here are meticulously maintained. The property is very quiet and laid back. We watched whales and turtles from our balcony every morning! We appreciated the beach chairs to take on our snorkeling trips, Kapalua Bay and Airport Beach were great! We do miss the beach that used to be in front of the condos, it’s just rocks now. But again, the view is amazing! We would definitely stay in this unit again!
This was our 3rd time staying at Kuleana, in 3 different condos. We always have a wonderful time! Unit 716 had an incredible view on the south end of the property. We watched whales jumping and turtles frolicking right from our patio! This property is always so quiet and the people so friendly. As always, the grounds and pool are meticulously maintained. We look forward to returning!
