Everyone on the property was very friendly. I absolutely loved the morning coffee; very delicious. Having an onsite restaurant was convenient and delicious. The Ka'apanali Beach is beautiful and just steps away. We will definitely be returning with our family.
Maui Kaanapali Villas was an excellent property for our family's stay - the pools, access to the fantastic Kahekili Beach and Kaanapali beachwalk, lawn games, on-site restaurant, ample space to spread out. But I'd strongly recommend that renters interested in MKV rent through a company other than Sun Beach Rentals, which gave us no contact number upon check-in (and had no booklet with contact information in the unit), did not answer any phone numbers listed, and did not respond to direct emails or messages sent through VRBO once on site -- unacceptable at any time, but particularly egregious during the very busy Christmas holiday week. The issue at hand was related to a non-working TV (which we were never able to use during our stay due to lack of response), but I have no idea what we would have done if there had been an actual problem with the unit, since MKV front desk doesn't handle in-unit management issues.
Very slow draining shower, standing water
Condo was clean, mattress comfortable. Otherwise - old and tired. Needs a renovation badly! Bathroom especially. Strange lighting throughout - looks like they picked up various weird lamps on sale. Bed frame was an 8” wide platform surrounding the mattress that made it very difficult to get into and out of bed - have never seen anything like it, and hope I never do again. Love the Maui Kaanapali Villas but would not stay in this unit again - especially for the price charged.
Wonderful location, just what we wanted.
A more low key place to stay in Maui.
Lots of nice things to say and a few suggestions. Let's start with those and then get to the good stuff.
Suggestions:
*The owners really need to invest in a plunger instead of me having to run to the front desk only to be told there was nothing they could do as I would need to speak to the rental management company
*Housekeeping, between stays, really need stock the place with tissues, paper towels, and napkins. We ran out of all three and had to buy some at the store
*We left some bananas out on the counter and woke up to find lots of ants. Put all food in the fridge.
*If you have a car, unless you get back to the property by 7 or 730p, forget about finding a parking spot and plan to use your parallel parking skills on the street and have a bit of a walk
*If you have any issues with this unit, the front desk is adamant that you must contact rental management company. They want nothing to do with you except to take your resort fee and give you the keycards.
*There is a reason there is no picture of the shower/toilet area as it's not dirty in any way, BUT it is dingy and old. There is no door for the shower and as a result the shower head only is available in mist mode
Now for all the good (in no particular order)
*In the "tower" building (4 floors) and very close to lobby
*Bed and pillows very comfortable
*Air conditioning and ceiling fan worked great
*Good Wifi once you connect
*Well stocked kitchen and good ice maker
*Lots of storage space (a few more hangers would not hurt)
*All picture posted online are just what it really looks like (including beach/pool shots)
*Nice patio with privacy separators between others (this place is on the ground level) that looks onto nice grass area
*Great Tommy Bahama beach chairs (they have storage, a cooler, straps to carry on you back, etc.), umbrella that screws into the sand, beach mat, and 1 boogie board
*Good, but showing its age furniture
*Fantastic beach just a few minutes walk...no rocks, seaweed, creepy fish....although the water is a bit chilly
*Very nice and well kept grounds on the property (the property itself is certainly showing its age, but don't let that disuade you)
*Nice lunch (or dinner) place called Castaway Cafe right by the pool. Not too pricey
*Lovely pool area (bath water temperature) and small hot tub
*Lots of extra towels and wash cloths in bathroom
*Easy to get fresh beach towels each day at the front desk.
We enjoyed our stay and will be back!!
Wonderful location. Place is just as described. Newly remodeled, and squeaky clean. Owners are very responsive. Really enjoyed the condo and the area. Would absolutely recommend.
This studio is a great size and location for your stay. There is a large grass area where the outdoor patio is which is great for young children to play after breakfast. There is. a free trolley ride that picks you up from the front of the resort and drops you off at the mall. The beach is walking distance from the resort which is great when you are staying with kids. Also there is the Castaway Cafe next to the pool with access to it from the pool as well as the beach. A suggestion for the management; 1- there is no cleaning supplies at the studio . Since the studio didn’t get clean for our 2 weeks stay I had to pitches windex and hand soap. 2- there is not enough trash bags in the unit for a stay of 2 weeks. 3-there is no oven safe dishes at the unit and therefore the oven is useless.
Great location, great room
Easy beach walk to whalers village restaurants, shops etc
Condo is clean with the essentials easy beach & pool access
Front desk makes check in easy with beach towels available
