What a beautiful location. The beach and view from the unit were stunning. The beach and snorkeling were amazing. I counted at least 8 turtles in the area on all days. Often we had the beautiful pool and hot tub to ourselves.
It was amazing place for our family vacation
Our family of four had a wonderful stay in e-303. Very clean and well equipped. Great communication with the owner. We hope to come back in the future!
We loved the location. 100% recomended if you're traveling with kids.
Perfect location - a few 100 steps from beach, gorgeous sunsets (and ocean views) from lanai, great for beach activities with family (boogie boarding, swim out to nearby reef to snorkel with turtles), a short drive up to the Shops at Wailea, Snorkel Bobs and nearby resorts/restaurants. The unit is well-maintained and very clean with modern appliances and quality amenities. Cathy was very responsive, so also her island contact. We will go back in a heartbeat!
I know I have three starts listed but it could easily be five if it weren't for a few items I will list later. Fist off, the views from the condo are incredible and even better from the spacious balcony. The sunsets were also incredible. The beach is a two minute walk and there are showers along the way to clean off. Unfortunately there was a historic swell that hit the day we checked in so we didn't get to snorkel until our last two days and it was still a bit soupy. When clear, the snorkeling would be amazing. We saw many charter boats there the last two days. We still had fun at the beach playing in the surf. The condo itself is gated and in a nice quiet part of Kihei. Shops and grocery stores are all close by.
The reason for the three stars is the condo is lacking oversight. It was extremely dirty with dust everywhere and caked on the walls of the bedrooms from the ceiling fan. There were sugar ants all over the kitchen which got into my computer and all of our items we left on the counter. We were notified by Cathy prior to our arrival that the AC wasn't working properly and that the door would have to be closed which was a shame because the breeze coming of the water was really nice. The condo never got below 76 and it felt wet. When all four of us were in it the temp climbed to 77-78. If we cooked it would climb to 79. I know certain things are out of the owners control but it was still an inconvenience. The kitchen was stocked with everything you would need to cook although there were several condiments left behind from what I assume were prior guests and that's fine, but I went to use one and it was caked in the bottle. Upon reading the expiration date it read 2019. In the storage box outside there were two broken boogie boards and an array of random items such as a snorkel with no mask and one set of fins. I relayed my concerns to Cathy with videos and she was quick to respond saying that her long term cleaning crew had left and she was trying to find a replacement.
I really hate leaving a 3 star review but when charging as much as this condo was it should be at least clean and bug free. With that said if those issues were taken care of this could easily be five stars.
Located on a big beautiful beach. Well stocked kitchen. Grill was just up the walk at the pool. Grill was in excellent condition and always clean and available. Unit came with king bed and two twins which isn’t always easy to find. Beach umbrellas and chairs and several cooler bags made our stay more comfortable. A lot of stairs to access unit which is on third floor and building is located below the closest parking lot. Clean beach. Helpful staff whenever we needed anything. Highly recommend.
The location of Cathy’s unit, the beach, the quietude and gated aspect of Makena Surf are all superlative! We love how close it is to our favorite restaurants, the golf course, and the Shops at Wailea. Our family would definitely like to come back to E303.
Wow! We just got back from our Maui vacation and we're already missing Makena Surf. Sunsets are absolutely incredible from either the huge lanai or from the super close beachfront. We used the provided beach chairs almost every day/evening, whether snorkeling, boogie boarding, or taking in the glorious sunsets from the beach. The provided boogie boards were very appreciated! We saw many turtles while snorkeling right in front of Makena Surf and couldn't believe that probably 15 snorkeling boats/tours brought their customers to this same spot every day. We can't wait to come back!
My husband and I took our 3 kids (ages 12, 12, and 14) to Maui for the first time and we loved this condo. The kids were able to access the beach and the pool so easily and we really loved that flexibility. The water was calm enough one day to snorkel from the beach and we saw 5 sea turtles- a highlight for sure! The view from the lanai is absolutely incredible. The sunsets with the palm trees waving in the wind was so beautiful and serene. Cathy was very responsive and easy to work with. We had no complaints. The unit is very nice. The only thing that would have been helpful is either a few more towels or a few more individual boxes of detergent to wash them more frequently. Also, a number of the pans look pretty well used and scratched. Those are small things though. Everything else was fantastic and we would totally come back in a heartbeat!
