Our overall experience was excellent. The location was perfect .Our host was extremely responsive and we couldn’t have been happier with our decision to stay in princeville.
We enjoyed the condo and its location in Princeville. It was very spacious and perfect for our party of 4. We like to cook and enjoyed its large kitchen, which was well equipped with everything we needed. It felt very homey and we enjoyed its furnishings and Hawaiian-style art pictures throughout the house. We loved the large lanai that wrapped around the condo, surrounded by the tropical foliage. The property has a beautiful swimming pool with perfect temperature water and a new BBQ that we used a lot. Just know that the condo does have some stairs inside for "sunken" rooms, if there are any mobility issues. Our party decided we would definitely stay here again!
The condo is well located in Princeville—with convenient food shopping within walking distance and good restaurants nearby in Hanalei (about a 5 minute drive), including great coffee, poke, and shaved ice. Terrific beaches, snorkeling, kayaking, paddling all close by the condo too—we loved Anini beach especially for snorkeling, seeing lots of sea turtles. The kitchen is incredibly well stocked—and the porch is lovely in the early morning and evenings. Lots of roosters around—they tend to be on their own time clock—so they will sometimes wake you at 3 am—and that will be the case anywhere you stay in Kauai—just be aware! The back of the condo is close to a road—so there were some traffic noises—but nothing later than 10 pm and none in our party found that it interfered with our use or enjoyment of the condo. The grounds of the condo are beautifully landscaped, and the pool is often empty—and lovely in the late afternoon. I would not rely on the snorkeling equipment provided by the host—you really need to be fitted—snorkeling equipment is inexpensive to rent lots of places. The host’s beach chairs were great—as were all the beach towels provided. The washer/dryer was super helpful! The host was responsive and helpful—we were not the most organized of guests, unfortunately. I would stay at these accommodations again—no concerns.
Condo was spacious and beautiful. All of the necessities were there.
Eco friendly community. Quiet (except for the local roosters) but close to a variety of other venues for food and entertainment.

The location of this property was great and the property itself is beautiful, but there were so many issues worth noting. Since there were 3 women travelers we needed the third bed, which was a pull out couch. The mattress was filthy and no linens were provided. The lock to the sliding back door was broken creating a safety concern. All of the floors are hard ceramic tile and there are steps everywhere, for example a step as you go into the bathroom. Two of us fell. The dining room light and fan didn’t work. The internet was unusually slow and one of the three of us needed to check in on work.
The host Sarah was amazing communicating with us and made the place feel exactly like home. The villa was beautiful and had everything you needed. The lanai was our favorite part. If we come back to princeville, we would love to stay here again.
Just stay here. A lot of room for a small family.Better than being cramped in a hotel room, with Roblox and you tube bouncing off the walls. The best part is the condo is haunted it was an extra treat to see a ghost on our vacation as my gf loves anything ghostly. Just in case you were wondering, I am just being a dad!
I feel like you share both positives and negatives. This property has a well stocked kitchen, plenty of seating in the living area, expansive lanai w/lots of seating, a good supply of beach chairs, towels, & toys. When we arrived it appeared the property had not been cleaned well. One of the toilets clearly had not been cleaned, all 4 sinks in the vanities had toothpaste on the faucets, mold in the master bath shower, washing machine had mold and smelled (we washed a load and it smelled awful!), & kitchen sink was not clean. A cleaning crew does not wash dishes, but several dishes were dirty. The property manager immediately refunded our cleaning fee when we notified her. We were not asking for a refund, but also do not expect to go on vacation and have to clean bathrooms and kitchen upon arrival. This property could be outstanding with a little maintenance work - several lamps not working (may just need a lightbulb), ceiling fan and light in Primary bedroom not working, ceiling fan and light in dining area worked sporadically - fan was on and off at will and could not turn the light off, leaky faucet in primary bathroom has water running on the counter top. Parking is sparse and no assigned spot. One room a/c in 2nd bedroom ONLY, small tv in living area, 2nd bedroom needs a dresser, additional window coverings needed in living area to cut down heat from afternoon sun. Bedrooms need tv. Also, if you plan to do work here the wifi is spotty. Multiple steps are not marked.
We were very comfortable in this spacious condo with the most extensive decks (and best chaise longues) I've ever seen. Sarah was an excellent host with detailed suggestions and instructions before arrival and throughout our stay. The kitchen had everything we needed, and we did cook virtually all of our meals (or packed a picnic); she even had a coffee frother for my morning coffee! The full-size laundry machines were a big help as you can’t pack enough for two weeks without multiple washings, and the pool is a particularly nice one. We didn't realize this unit is directly on a road so the traffic noise was noticeable. Be aware that Kauai “enjoys” the unique situation of wild chickens and roosters everywhere, so be prepared for constant crowing wherever you stay. Princeville is just under an hour from the airport on the two-lane road that follows the coast; if you are going to the North End of the island, this is a lovely unit to rent for your stay.
The pictures are accurate, and the place was immaculate. It's on the second floor of a two-story building, a short walk from the parking lot. The floor-to-ceiling windows enhance the living space, and the wrap-around lanai ensures easy access to the outdoors. Both bathrooms have been modernized, and the beds are comfortable. The kitchen is well-stocked, making home cooked meals easy. The grounds are lush and well-maintained, and the pool is a short walk. We would be happy to return.
The condo was so spacious and that was so nice for four of us. It was an easy walk to shops and to a nearby resort, which had a coffee shop and restaurant. We really enjoyed our stay and would come back again. The owner was easy to reach and very helpful when it came to recommendations.
The appartment was what we expected and what was shown on the pictures. It‘s spacious, a nice neighbourhood and good facilities. Only maintance needs to be done, ceiling fan at bed room was not working but alternatives were available.
Cusions on balcony furniture needs to be reviewed. It was great that all beach equipement was available!
Over all we had a very nice time here, really loved it!
We had a wonderful week at Sarah’s place at Mauna Kai. The big lanai was lovely in the mornings and evenings for coffee and light snacks. Sarah provided tons of beach equipment and the property was close to a grocery store and kids park for our almost 2 year old toddler.
Positives: Beautiful updated space with a lovely lanai. Very clean. Well-equipped kitchen. Comfortable beds. Fantastic lighting. Spacious. Great shower in master bath. Good amenities. Strong wi-fi (if you have to work). Easy trash and recycling disposal. Great beach equipment. Plenty of towels. Good toiletries. It's just a really good space. Easy access to everything on the north shore.
Things to know (beyond owner's control): It can be noisy from both the street and other occupants. Harder to remain cool during day (so go to the beach or head out for a hike). Parking tough if you get in late, but not impossible by any means (would be better if people stopped taking two spots).
Areas for improvement: Again, this rental is near perfect, and I hope to stay here in the future. These are just a couple of things that would have made the stay actually perfect. A small stash of coffee to get started would have been nice. The towels may need a refresh soon because the damp air made them a little musty (they were definitely clean). A couple of power strips would be nice for charging, etc. Wiping down the tables on the patio in advance of arrival.
All in all, this was a wonderful stay and I very highly recommend this rental.
The property is very conveniently located with lots of great snorkeling and hiking nearby. The property contained everything we needed to cook meals, It was very clean, comfortable and ready for our arrival. There is a large veranda with comfortable seating. The pool is large and well maintained. The landscaping is lovely. I would stay there again on a future visit.
The accommodations were excellent, the grounds exceptionally beautiful and we enjoyed the pool, but we have one major concern. We were not informed about the steps inside the property, three going down into the living room; two entering the master bedroom and a deeper step into the master bathroom. Three of us are people in our late 70s and I am 80. Upon entering the house, two of us tripped on these stairs but luckily did not fall; and my 82-year/old brother who came for dinner one evening also tripped going into the living room but didn’t fall. We are people who exercise and try to stay in shape. Luckily we didn’t fall and get injured although others might. These inner steps should be colored differently from the rest of the floor so they stand out and brought to the guests’ attention in the website information re. the property. n addition, the master shower floor is quite slippery when wet with no hand rails to grasp. I had to be very careful not to slip in the shower.
The stay was most pleasant otherwise but as one of our friends said, the inside steps are a “law suit just waiting to happen”.
This condo is perfectly located in a beautifully landscaped setting. It is walking distance to restaurants and shops. We enjoyed the Saturday morning Farmer's Market just a short walk away. I was there to honor my husband's request to scatter his ashes off of our favorite beach, and the setting of this condo was restorative for my spirit. The condo is beautifully decorated, clean, and well stocked for any cooking you may want to do. The second floor location allows for great breezes and a large lanai.
This condo has lots of room, is well equipped and a great base for exploring the north of Kauai. It has a friendly neighborhood feel.
My wife, my brother, my sister-in-law and I had a very relaxing stay in Mauna Kai. Sarah reached out to me several days before we arrived and was very thorough and responsive. The property itself is very well maintained. We will definitely look to stay here again the next time we visit Princeville!
Would like to have known unit backed up to street behind bedrooms. Noisy. Also unit lacked a satisfactory cleaning.
Bring a flashlight. We had trouble finding the condo because the walkways were not lit.
Condo was well furnished, comfortable, and clean (except for ceiling fans). We received almost an immediate response from Sarah every time we made contact. A couple of Interior steps to master bedroom and master bath. Both bathrooms were roomy and we had plenty of hot water and great water pressure. The lanai was fabulous and extremely spacious. Plenty of towels. Overall a great stay!
Beautiful condo in a very convenient location to all the north shore has to offer. Owner was very easy and great to communicate with. Landscaping on property was impeccable. Very nice and large pool for kids. Apartment itself was huge with plenty of room for downtime. Overall cleanliness was good. As all apartments need from time to time, a deep cleaning of cabinets, bathroom and floors was needed. Proximity to view in neighboring condo was slightly awkward at times. All in all we had an amazing time and was very satisfied with our stay. We’d definitely love to come again. Thanks Sarah for being so responsive.

Stayed 7 nights at Mauna Kai in January. Overall great experience! The space was lovely w a nice patio and surrounding foliage. Beds and furniture were comfortable. Great location for a jumping off point for all North shore activities, w grocery store very nearby. The unit was clean and well stocked w all needed kitchen items, beach items (bags, boogey boards, chairs, towels, toys, etc.). Had a pack and play for our 3 year old daughter which was a bonus. AC in front bedroom but not in primary bedroom. Not a problem except a little warm requiring sleeping w windows open and downstairs neighbor have a daily phone call on his patio at 5 am waking us up. Units were pretty close together which didn’t allow for a ton of privacy w all the otherwise wonderful windows. So just a couple minor dings, but overall would recommend and would likely stay here again.
