We love Kanaloa, because it is beautiful & quiet, but just a short drive to everything. From our lanai we watched the canoe clubs paddle by in the a.m. & the sunsets in the evening. We swam in the oceanside pool before/after the beach.The condo layout was ideal for us - 2 couples & 1 single. One couple visiting from Europe (12-hour time difference) especially appreciated the expansive primary suite with the dedicated WFH space, the loft had plenty of room & enough privacy for the second couple to spread out, & the smaller bedroom with a walk-in closet & adjacent bathroom was more than adequate for the single. All the beds were comfortable, & the bed linens & plentiful towels were of good quality.The high tech refrigerator automatically provided 2 sizes of ice cubes, filtered water, & was conveniently stocked with a variety of condiments. Kitchen provisions included dishwasher detergent, soap, trash bags, wraps, dishes for 12, plenty of glassware, dishtowels, placemats, serving dishes, & more. We were happy to find what we needed for the beach - towels, umbrella, mat, cooler - but there were also boogie boards & chairs.We used the "smart" clothes washer/dryer almost every day, & watched the giant TV when we found a DVD on Hawaiian skies, a consolation for the the canceled Mauna Kea Summit Tour.In addition to a Basket of Hawaiian goodies, you'll find a well-organized binder of House Rules. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Mhari & Gary's, and heartily recommend it.
We loved our stay! The condo is very comfortable. Beds are great - even the sofa bed is comfortable. It was also nice to have a full sectional and spacious living room that was a separate area to where the sofa bed couch is. It is only a 2 min walk from the beach, and we loved the location. The house has beach chairs and boogie boards for use. Sunny and spacious. We also loved being able to use the pool/gym/tennis/pickleball/restaurant across the street at the athletic club. Great location for seeing everything in Kauai. Please note - we didn't realize that there was no washer/dryer. For a holiday with lots of sand, this was a challenge. The listing says there is a laundromat nearby, but we didn't find one less than a 20 min drive away - not very close in my opinion.
A great condo for our family of four. Plenty of space and everything we needed for a great vacation. Can't recommend this condo enough!
Everything was exceptional! This property was one of the best I’ve ever stayed at and truly felt privileged to enjoy. The pictures don’t do it justice. It’s even nicer in person. Get it if you can We spent a lot of time exploring but wish we would have had more time to stay in and enjoy this property. Dinner on the lanai provided a better view than any restaurant we ate at. Also from the lanai, the sounds of the ocean is mesmerizing and I recorded a voice memo to take home and enjoy to sleep, relax, and remember everything that was special about this beautiful part of the world!
We totally enjoyed our stay and would definitely book again if we find ourselves on the Big Island. The condo and grounds were clean, well appointed and in a great location. Communication with host was top notch. Thank you for a great vacation .... we'll miss our morning coffee on the lanai watching the whale spouts and boat traffic.
After many years, we finally made it back to Hawaii. From the moment we approached the entrance to the complex, I knew we had made a great choice. Tropical flowers, palm trees and perfectly manicured lawns provided a lovely backdrop. Staff at the entry gate and the check in office were very gracious and helpful. We quickly proceeded to our unit where an assigned covered parking space was available.
Our unit was oceanfront and very spacious. Stairs off the foyer took us up to the main level with a comfortable family room, kitchen and dining area. Also, there were two large bedrooms and two full baths (closets were huge). Up another flight of stairs brought you to the third bedroom with its own sitting area and full bath, in a loft format but is visually private. To note, all beds were very comfortable.
The unit was clean and well stocked in the kitchen, laundry and baths. We spent a lot of time throughout each day on the relaxing lanai with beautiful and ever changing views with one whale sighting. The complex was quiet and easy to walk. (We went the second week of December which may have been a quieter time.)
The well maintained pools were an added bonus and frequently used.
A short drive up the road was a wonderful shopping center with lovely restaurants (including L & L Barbecue) and a convenient grocery store. It was a nice walk to get there.
Recommendations:
- The pocket door to the master bedroom bath would benefit from new wheels.
- The kitchen cabinets were ample but a little worn.
Overall, I would certainly stay here again. I felt this was a great value and just what we needed!
We stayed for 4 days. The unit was clean, spacious and well appointed. The pools and grounds were equally clean and well kept. Our only issue was that the washing machine was not working but it didn't deter from our stay.
We stayed here for 6 nights. There were 5 ladies in our party and this condo worked out wonderful. I enjoyed every morning sitting on lanai, drinking my coffee and watching/listening to the waves. What a beautiful view! It was perfect. The condo is very well equipped with all the necessities you need in the kitchen. She even has a few beach chairs, umbrella, boogie boards, beach towels and a decent size cooler. No complaints about everything. The bed and pillows were comfy as well. I would definitely recommend a stay here and given the opportunity I would come back.
This was our first visit to the Big Island. We spent four nights at Kanaloa at Kona Condo 1904. Upon arrival the first thing we encountered were a lot of steps to get to the living area of the Condo. It was a bit of a pain getting all our luggage up the stairs. So, I would just want people to be aware of that issue. They do show a picture of the entryway online so you can see for yourself.
That being said, we loved the condo. And the view from the lanai makes the steps worth it. Right on the oceanfront and the sound of the waves was marvelous. When not out exploring the island and beaches, we spent a good amount of time sitting on the lanai enjoying that view.
The condo worked very well for our family of five including grandma, parents and two teenage boys. Plenty of room, everything we needed for our stay in terms of kitchen items, dinnerware, towels, including beach towels, beach chairs. Bathrooms were updated and beds very comfortable.
There are three pools, including one with a view of the ocean. There was grill close by the unit which we did use for one meal. The community was nice and quiet.
I would definitely recommend Kanaloa at Kona Condo 1904 for your stay on the Big Island. And would love to go back there someday!
The condo was so spacious the 6 of us had plenty of room to spread out and the 3 bathrooms were perfect! The view from the lanai was beautiful, couldn’t have asked for a better way to start your morning! The internet and tv didn’t work and we tried a few times to have the local contact come look at it but she never made it. Just a minor inconvenience for night time downtime for the kids. Would stay again.
Everything about this condo was wonderful. The master bedroom was so comfortable and spacious. The view was gorgeous and the property grounds were well kept. The condo was clean and well stocked. We will definitely stay here again and I highly recommend this condo to anyone looking to stay in the Kona area.
