Such a lovely curated space that feels simple yet special, with lots of functional and aesthetic choices that feel like a magical stay in Hawaii. The hammock and lounging outside in shade or sun, exploring tidepools, comfortable just enough indoor space and tastefully and artfully created space. I see why people return. We sadly never got to see any turtles our entire 5 days stay, and had really looked forward to that perk. Nature is unpredictable though. Fortunately we swam with them elsewhere. Also, there are more updates to the property and amenities than pictured here. It feels mostly private but the locals do frequent the rocks for fishing and surfers make their way in and out daily. Unfortunately for that reason an outdoor shower wasn’t in the cards, but it’s their home and space and we were just visitors! Great everything you need kitchen for cooking. Only issues but not barriers, if you’re a lighter sleeper, be aware at odd hours (12:30am and 6am) sprinklers turn on waking us daily with a loud air in pipes squeal. I’m sure can be repaired and it is a beautifully kept landscape (landscaper came on the 20th unexpectedly—details dated in listing. We planned to be out that day so worked out fine). Be aware that though great location, Ali’i drive is busy and happening so lots of car and bass/music noise. The waves tune most of it out though in the front main room. Overall, a wonderful and relaxing stay. Thanks for all the special touches and sharing this space with us.
Absolute paradise on earth…extremely well appointed house…wonderful outdoor kitchen and living room…turtles and eels just feet away from the living room every morning.Fantastic location! The only hiccup was the electronic gate control was broken making going in and out a bit of a pain. The owners were actively working to rectify that situation. It is expensive, but well worth it in our opinion. Would definitely return again
Such a beautiful place right on the water, we never wanted to leave. The full kitchen had everything we needed, loved that it was outside. Enjoyed the sunsets and the surfers. Bed was so comfortable. Location was great, out of the main, busy Kona area yet close enough that it was a quick drive.
Loved this place, the location on the ocean is outstanding.
Will stay here again....
The property delivers everything promised in the listing, including watching the sea turtles. We had a fabulous time. Would do it all again.
This house is lovely. Very clean, comfortable bed and overall updated well! The ocean was so close! Enjoyed Coffee and a view! Would like to come back in the Summer when the snorkeling would be best. Big swell during our stay prevented us from getting in. Turtles come in to eat here! A few suggestions for the owners might be, way too many door codes. if you left your phone in your room and could not get to your "notes" you get locked out. Maybe make all the doors the SAME code and periodically change them all at the same time. Extra blanket for the bed would have been nice. And larger beach towels would have been nice. Other than these few suggestions, we had a wonderful stay! Mahalo!
The location of this home is just stunning. We never got sick of sitting in the outdoor living space and watching the surfers. There’s pretty much every amenity you could want, although we wished we had brought an outdoor.

I cannot rave about this place enough. Wow. Right on the water. Sea turtles. Outside kitchen. Privacy. (You do see fisher people on the rocks, but they stay far away and fish.) Everyday we walked down to the tide pools (a couple of feet away!). We mostly lived outside, only going in to sleep or use the bathroom or watch TV late at night. Also so much is new here: the washer and dryer and oven. Everything was spotless. We also rented a brand new car from the owner using Turo. So easy. Also so peaceful. We never wanted to leave. Ordered take out from Kai’s. Great pizza. Twenty minute walk to Magic’s Beach. Ate dinner there twice. Wonderful. We hope to be able to come back. This was an amazing experience. I cannot imagine anyone coming here and not being blown away by the serenity and astounding beauty. Every moment we were here we reminded ourselves how lucky we were to experience this. Thank you!

Really delightful place. Right in the middle of everything but felt like we were far from the bustle of the Kona. It’s really impossible to explain what a great place this was…I guess saying we actually postponed our return home just to have a few more days should explain it best :)

Wonderful home on the ocean with sea breezes, coconut trees and an oasis for sea turtles. A magical place to relax, explore the tide pools and enjoy the sunsets.
This is an amazing property! You open the gate and drive into the patio/carport. From there your view is of Lyman’s point. The cottage is bedrooms and bathrooms, a work area and a small area for watching TV. But everything else is outside on the lanai including the entire well-equipped kitchen. We mostly hung out in the living area on the lanai when we were at the rental. There is a protected “pond” area that is open to the ocean but largely protected right next to the the house. There we were visited several times a day by green turtles. You could walk into the pond and see many many types of fish too. The surf was high while we were there so we got to watch great surfers catching the waves from first light on. We slept to the sound of crashing waves. The main part of the house is like a studio with a walk in closet and bathroom. The other bedroom is not directly accessible from the studio part and can only be entered from an exterior door. The other bathroom also has its own exterior door. We were with our adult daughter so this was not an issue for us. It was tempting to just stay at the house all day. We had a lovely time.
We used Kim’s place as a home base for 4 days and had a great time! Beautiful spot on the island and fun to call home for a few days…
Wow! Wow! Wow! This home is truly a little slice of heaven! The pictures don't do it justice. The shore line is right there and we had our own personal tide pool where we could see Sun and Angel fish swimming with schools of little fishes. Each time we left the house to go someplace (like Mahai'ula beach) we came back to the house saying, "This is so much better!!" There is only one neighbor to the north of the house and we rarely heard them. We had one minor issue with a light switch which we contacted the owner and it got fixed the same day. A couple of additional comments for awareness:
- The sounds of the ocean. If you are looking for a spot where the gentle swish, swish of the ocean can lull you to sleep, this isn't the place. The configuration of the shoreline is quite rocky and irregular, so the wave action can be quite chaotic.
- Getting into the ocean. The little cove that this house sits on is large and fairly shallow. However, getting into the cove can be a challenge as it is rocky and the rocks tend to have sea anemones on them with spikes. If I was doing it again, I would have brought diving gloves of some sort to make it easier to navigate the first few feet into the cove.
- If you are planning on cooking. Check the pantry items to make sure you have what you need. It was pretty bare when we arrived, but stocked when we left.
- If you are planning on going to Mahai'ula beach. DO NOT attempt the drive in anything but a 4X4 vehicle. It is very unfinished. We had a Tahoe and we were worried at some points. The beach itself has two sections: The part that you can walk to from the parking lot which is quite rocky and wavy. And the part that you can hike to (about 10 minutes) that is a more traditional beach. Very pretty beach, but not very quiet. The beach is directly under the flight path to the airport.
- If you are planning on doing any sport fishing, I used Kona Deep Sea charters. I was fortunate enough to land a couple of Mahi and a Yellowtail Tuna! Be aware though, that if you want to take any of your catch home with you that they will only filet one of your fish as long as it is under 100lbs. This is pretty standard as their catch does go to a wholesaler which is how they make the majority of their monies. I had a blast and the Mahi I did bring home was plenty!
I think that pretty much covers it! Mahalo!
Amazing house and property
Without a doubt the most beautiful location in Kona!! This place is magical! Close to town and the best beaches in Kona, world class snorkeling, diving and paddle boarding in the backyard! Communication with Kim was great and timely. Thank you for this spectacular location for our family to enjoy a vacation on the Big Island!
All that we needed to have a comfortable, homelike experience is here. The view, the beds, the kitchen, bath, all was amazing.
We had a great time and enjoyed the house. I wanted to stay forever. Many great ideas to take back home for our future VRBO in the pacific northwest.
Home run digs. Thank you.
Beautiful home and location! Very tranquil notwithstanding location on main road.
Nice spot, liked watching the surfers and turtles. Very comfortable, short drive to dining establishments. Easy access and parking. would stay there again.
A wonderful home, thank you!
Very relaxing, I am spoiled. We hardly ever left the property.
