The downstairs unit smells moldy, with visible mold in the washer. The smell was unbearable, and alternative arrangements had to be made for those sleeping downstairs. This issue is known, as an air filter is available, although the filter in the machine was filthy. Furthermore, moisture-wicking products were in the closet. Be aware anyone with a respiratory issue will be affected!

Family members who stayed there were completely satisfied. Multi-level facilities are clean and well-kept. Lanais are spacious and bbq are available on several levels. Convenient location near Captain Cook.
Family of 10 was just right for this property, everyone had a bed including the pull-out couch. Enjoyed the sunsets everyday, lots of room on the balcony with a solar LED umbrella and BBQ. Some dirty pots on arrival and towels were pretty musty, corrected with cleaning, no big deal.Sliding balcony/patio doors need some maintenance as well as some windows but manageable. Parking was great for two vehicles, road in front is pretty steep but normal for the area. Would stay again for sure.
Overall everything was as advertised, a few issues came up and were addressed the next day.

We had a lovely stay at the Kealakekua property on the Kona side of the Big Island. This was our first trip to Hawaii, and it was a great choice for meeting up with friends from Europe. The accommodations were comfortable, well-appointed, and provided everything we needed for a relaxing stay.
The views from both lanais were beautiful, especially during the sunsets, which were a highlight of our evenings. The property was clean, and the property management team was helpful and quick to respond whenever we had questions.
This home made a great base for exploring the Big Island, and we left with many wonderful memories. Thank you for hosting us and helping make our first visit to Hawaii so enjoyable!
Clean, quiet, well stocked, amazing location with all amenities nearby. Views are world class.
Within 20 minutes of great beaches. The house is ideally set up for a larger family with a full studio for older kids or another small family.

We were very fortunate to be able to schedule a mini-family reunion with two of our sons and their families at Halekii Sunset in mid-June. The property was perfect and easily accommodated 5 adults and four children. We enjoyed the sunsets and views of the ocean as well as the nature sounds of the birds and coqui frogs. The children appreciated the yard space as well as the supply of beach toys! The kitchen had all the necessary dishes and cookware necessary to make meals, as well as a blender for pina coladas! The each of the three bathrooms included bath products and a hair dryer, a good thing since we had a teenager with us, and the littles loved the outdoor shower. The property manager was extremely communicative and quickly responded to our questions. We would definitely recommend Halekii Sunset to families looking for a quiet neighborhood for their Hawaii experience.

Plenty of space for 10 people to get together but also for you to slip away alone somewhere to recharge. I will always treasure the time spent in the mornings watching the sunrise, drinking coffee, and discussing life with my loved ones--the location and views are amazing.Property Managers were responsive and professional.I would book this property again.
