We enjoyed the location. Condo has old charm, but it shows its age. There is some opportunity to improve cleanliness overal

Just spent one night. Had some small roaches. Owner said he would refund my money and send an exterminater.

Great location! Right off the beach within walking distance of shops and restaurants. Check in was rough, the code didn’t work and we could not reach the owner but the onsite property management was helpful and the owners checked in as soon as they got my message about check in. The AC was a blessing and the kitchenette was sufficient with its hot plate and toaster.

The Good: The balcony was cozy. Nice pool area. Decent wifi signal.
The Bad: The property is listed as Historic Kailua Village but it’s actually called Kona Islander Inn. This was very confusing at first because Kailua Village is right next door. We stayed 4 nights but was only able to park on premises one of the nights because not enough parking spaces. Had to park across the street the other three nights. Went to use the coffee maker and the filter was caked with dried up grounds and little bugs (very gross). Opened up one of the kitchen drawers and found a small dead cockroach-looking bug. There is no dedicated bathroom sink…you share the kitchen sink as a bathroom sink…weird. The bathroom exhaust fan needs to be seriously cleaned.
It’s the little things that matter and when added up, made for an OK experience. A little more attention to details and this would a good place to stay.

I blame myself for not looking closer at this property but take my advice and get a place worth your time. The selling point they keep advertising is you are steps away from the beach, while technically true the reality is the beach is tiny(maybe 10 yards in total) full of rocks, next to a busy street with constant traffic noise, and a hangout for vagrants. Zero communication with the host, couldnt access basic info. Listed as having air conditioning but it did not work. Listed as having a kitchenette but the sink is right next to the bathroom with a door that doesnt fully shut, gross. The bed, oh my god the bed must have been purchased 30 years ago it was stiff as a board. Pool wasnt worth anything unless you have kids that are learning to swim as its pretty pathetically sized for adults. If you want a place in kona thats near retaurants and shopping centers I gaurentee you there are better options available.

The location is very nice and within walking distance to many places. The room overall is all right, however the bed was lacking in comfort but not in hard springs. Also it would have been nice to have a remote for the a/c considering it is almost at the top of the ceiling. Parking is limited as well, but manageable. Overall if we could have gotten a decent sleep it would have been much better.

My friend and I stayed at this location for 1 week and were very satisfied with everything. There is a queen bed and a hide-a-bed in the sofa, so it was perfect for two friends. The greatest thing about this condo is the location! We enjoyed watching the sunset on the ocean just behind us and grabbing a dinner or shave ice was perfectly convenient, just up or down the road. One morning we at breakfast across the street and watched the dolphins, who apparently make an appearance every morning!
We were very pleased with our ability to speak to the owner, Greg, I believe. He replied in good time and helped us with all of our concerns.
Just to clarify one thing, the front desk is open from 8 or 9 am until midnight.
I would definitely recommend this condo for a couple or a couple of friends. I know I will be back for sure!

Overall, the location was nice for us as we had great access to the farmer's market, shops and plenty of places to eat within walking distance. Check in was ok - front desk was less than welcoming and parking is a slight disaster. If you are looking for a place with an actual parking spot, this isn't it. Otherwise the place worked for what we needed. We could have used a couple actual kitchen towels - had to use bathroom hand towels - and a bath mat as the shower door catches water and when you open the door, water gets all over the floor. We didn't use the pool or anything so I can't comment on that but it looked like a nice place to sit.

Everything was good except for the parking. Too little spaces for guests.
