The only thing that was good about my stay was I was able to check in an hour early, besides that none of my messages were returned to from the host, the air conditioner barely worked, the front door was hard to close, and there was nowhere to park inside the complex on different occasions, only one garage can, and the whole place just felt and looked dirty
Wrong code for the condo, had to sleep in my car
It was nice for our short stay and within walking distance of the beach, shops, and restaurants. Would stay again.
The location is incredibly central and fantastic. The back of the property is right on Ali'i. The rest of it - pretty bad. The sheets were dirty, mattress had stains. One of the "blankets" was an opened up sleeping bag. The under sink cabinet had roach traps (ok, I get it), but one would think they would clean it out in between guests...you can imagine. There were not enough beach towels to accommodate the capacity advertised. The TV did not work, took a while to troubleshoot (with unsightly cables all over the desk). The dish soap left was an open bottle, diluted with (I assume) water, no hand soap at all. The sponge was evidently used and left right near aforementioned roach trap. The bathroom and "kitchen" are a common space, with ants everywhere. It was hard to put any items down on the counters because of this. Upon arrival, we went to turn on the AC, only to discover that it was so disgustingly filthly in there, we didn't want to breathe in that air. This was the worst STR we have ever stayed at. I sincerely hope that this company improves for the sake of the people.
Location is perfect! Cute little condo with some extra beach stuff which was great! The only thing missing was body wash, shampoo, and conditioner, which if I had known, it wouldn’t have been that big of deal.
Property is nice. We had an enjoyable stay. The only issue was lack of parking spaces on property.
Place was not cleaned before we arrived due to a miscommunication between the property owner and his cleaning person. Was taken care of but it took a decent amount of trying to get a hold of anyone to get the issue resolved. Room itself was good and everything worked, except for the TV. Overall, it's a good spot as long as you don't really plan on doing much at the place you are staying besides eating breakfast and sleeping. Great location to walk to a ton of restaurants in Kona.
Stayed at property before so know area. This unit door lock would not work, so after messing around with guest services for 25 mins and getting backup key, air conditioning was welcome. Room poorly cleaned. Parking was problematic, not enough spaces. Came back from dinner at 8 pm ended up with truck in pay parking a block away for $40 . No other space available.
Great location, convenient to everything. However, we arrived at our unit to find the screen door wide open and the door closer unscrewed from the wall. Once inside, we went to put our clothes in the armoire and one of the doors was broken. There was dust and debris under the bed and couch. Chipped paint on the walls. The bathroom exhaust fan hadn't been cleaned in who knows how long and we weren't surprised when we saw four cockroaches scurrying about. The lanai was covered in sand and hadn't been swept. When we wanted to watch TV, the remote was missing. The owner was responsive yet it appeared he already knew there was no remote and he said there would be a replacement. None ever showed up. We love the Kona Islander Inn but most likely will avoid this unit in the future.
Adequate. I like the location of this complex, this particular unit is not the best I've stayed in. It's got everything it says, the photo isn't at all like the actual unit. Some confusion over codes & entry, we made it work. Could use some basic maintenance, fix hinges, that sort of thing. Kinda dark, but as a base for activities you're not spending a lot of time inside. That said, I'd stay there again. I will say about some of these short term vacation rentals - I don't mind taking the trash out when I leave, that's a necessity with bugs in this climate, but I really don't like having to strip sheets. I go on vacation to avoid doing housework.
Can enjoy so many types of activities just walking distance.
I always love to stay here every time I come to the side of the island. Location is great nice pool and spa. The place has the perfect amount of amenities. Air conditioner works great.
We enjoyed the location. Condo has old charm, but it shows its age. There is some opportunity to improve cleanliness overal
Just spent one night. Had some small roaches. Owner said he would refund my money and send an exterminater.
Great location! Right off the beach within walking distance of shops and restaurants. Check in was rough, the code didn’t work and we could not reach the owner but the onsite property management was helpful and the owners checked in as soon as they got my message about check in. The AC was a blessing and the kitchenette was sufficient with its hot plate and toaster.
The Good: The balcony was cozy. Nice pool area. Decent wifi signal.
The Bad: The property is listed as Historic Kailua Village but it’s actually called Kona Islander Inn. This was very confusing at first because Kailua Village is right next door. We stayed 4 nights but was only able to park on premises one of the nights because not enough parking spaces. Had to park across the street the other three nights. Went to use the coffee maker and the filter was caked with dried up grounds and little bugs (very gross). Opened up one of the kitchen drawers and found a small dead cockroach-looking bug. There is no dedicated bathroom sink…you share the kitchen sink as a bathroom sink…weird. The bathroom exhaust fan needs to be seriously cleaned.
It’s the little things that matter and when added up, made for an OK experience. A little more attention to details and this would a good place to stay.
Lovely place to walk everywhere..for coffee fresh food market restaurants waterfront Kona Village shopping..so much to see and enjoy!
I blame myself for not looking closer at this property but take my advice and get a place worth your time. The selling point they keep advertising is you are steps away from the beach, while technically true the reality is the beach is tiny(maybe 10 yards in total) full of rocks, next to a busy street with constant traffic noise, and a hangout for vagrants. Zero communication with the host, couldnt access basic info. Listed as having air conditioning but it did not work. Listed as having a kitchenette but the sink is right next to the bathroom with a door that doesnt fully shut, gross. The bed, oh my god the bed must have been purchased 30 years ago it was stiff as a board. Pool wasnt worth anything unless you have kids that are learning to swim as its pretty pathetically sized for adults. If you want a place in kona thats near retaurants and shopping centers I gaurentee you there are better options available.
Very nice efficient Condo. Host quick to respond and very friendly. Great location. Be prepared to park early after 5:00 it’s packed. Will recommend this property.
Loved being close to the beautiful Pacific Ocean & watching the waves crashing against the seawalls. We could walk to all the local amenties along Alli'i.
Front desk cannot/will not help with anything. We were locked out of our room for over an hour even though we had got an ok for a late checkout the night before. Front desk said only the owner could give late checkout approval and we had no way of contacting them.parking lot is way too small with only one way in and no way to reverse direction so you can park. I would never stay there again or deal with the mgt. Company.
Centrally located and beach is located right across the street. Great restaurants around to choose from.
