“The Makahuena” is located on the southernmost point of Kauai. This unique oceanfront resort is situated on the edge of a bluff providing spectacular coastal views. This 2-bd/2-ba condo is on the ground floor with breathtaking oceanfront views in the heart of sunny Poipu. There is a full kitchen, spacious lanai, and split A/C throughout.
The primary bedroom is furnished with a King sized bed and ensuite bathroom with walk-in shower. The second bedroom is furnished with two twin sized beds that can be converted to a king bed upon request in advance, and a full guest bathroom. PLEASE NOTE that the pathway from the parking lot to the condo is layered and involves a flight of stairs to the entryway.

Host gracious & communicates well. Condo clean & comfortable with plenty of paper products for our stay. The view of the ocean off the balcony was spectacular. Wouldnt miss those sunsets! We would definitely stay there again.

Really enjoyed our stay. Everything was as advertised. Extras are a real plus. Used the Beach chairs and umbrella daily. Great location. Loved old town Koloa.

Property was overall well maintained, beautiful ocean view and great communication with hosts. Great area with short drives to all of the attractions in the area. Only small critique is the unit could have been cleaned more thoroughly. Overall, would recommend

Views and A/C were must haves and this room delivered! The whole unit stayed cool and we were really comfortable. The pictures dont fully do the view justice. You can feel the gentle thud of the bigger waves hitting the rocks just steps outside. You can watch a sunset while having a glass of wine in the evening.

Stayed with husband and our two teen sons. The view is the best of any other condo. Watched sunset every night. Went to Poipu Beach and Shipwreck. We had a car but it’s close enough to walk. You have navigate stairs with luggage but it was ok for us. Condo is excellent, clean, well appointed. We never needed to contact property manager as instructions to get in were sent ahead of time and were easy to follow. They emailed us to make sure we got in ok and have us their contact info so communication was good. Would definitely recommend.

We had a wonderful time at this property! The condo is an end unit with beautiful views right on the ocean. Jeremy and Kristen were wonderful hosts who were very attentive. The condo was a pretty long walk from the parking lot with several sets of steps.

This rental was everything we wanted and more. We chose Kauai for its reputation for being less crowded, safe, and still having all the attractions of the bigger islands. We chose the south side because of the sunnier weather forecast and easier beach access. Makahuena is the absolute perfect location on the south side. We were worried it was on a rocky part—that is true but the whole coast on the south side is a combination of rocks, then beach, then rocks and so on. All the south side beaches were very nearby. We found the best snorkeling at Lawai and Poipu beaches and the best boogie boarding at Brennecke’s beach. Shipwreck and Poipu are both big beaches. We rented a car and needed it to get to our activities. Activities on the west and on the east are about 35 minutes away. We also rented beach cruiser bikes and used them to ride to beaches and restaurants on the south side. I recommend Kauai e-bikes in Koloa….reasonable prices and the deliver and pick up the bikes. Why Makahuena 5101? View! It is the absolute closest to the ocean. The surf is awesome and puts on a show all day. We saw turtles and whales right from the porch. Sunset and sunrise are also viewable right from the porch. The high top table out there is the best seat in the house. Accessibility: The coast on the south side is gentle hills and you cannot avoid slopes. You can access the unit with a path and one set of stairs and it’s not that far. Having AC was great. The unit is well equipped. Great stay

Loved every second! Was. A spectacular incredible condo, could not have asked for Better entertainment from the ocean crashing on the rocks. Sunsets & sunrises …SPECTACULAR! We will be back, God willing.
