This review is long over do. Long's at Lanakai is something very special. Our young family spent Easter of 2014 gathering as part of a remembrance for our parents. Lanakai beach was a favorite spot for them. So much so they had a painting of the Mokoluas which hung in our kitchen at home to greet them every morning for coffee. They made many friends up and down the beach. If you are in search a place to decompress, a great home base, access to the number one beach in the country, and a kid freindly environment this is the place. Breath taking views, early morning canoes ,a private seawall frequented by crabs, fish and turtles make Long's at Lanikai the perfect retreat. Rick was an excellent host and always available if you needed him; although you rarely want for anything in "paradise". We long for the Mokoluas and ocean breezes and hope to return someday soon. There are very few surprises in life, but this was one of them!! Our excitement was high as we made our way down the driveway to Long's at Lanakai. When we pulled up and looked through the front window, we were amazed by the beautiful artwork on the wall. We stepped inside, greeted by the cleanliness, and were stunned to realize the artwork was our very own, amazing waterfront view!!!!! The unbelievable turquoise waters of Lanakai are less than 10 yards from the back door. This is by far the best location on Oahu!! It's private yet minutes to Kailua!! The house has everything you need and more! Open windows and the oceanfront breezes are your natural air-conditioning. All in all it is a fantastic family house, easily accommodating 6-8!!

We just spent a week on Oahu at Long's at Lanikai and wished it had been two. This property is wonderful. Lovely, charming, home with everything you can possibly need. You can't possibly find a more "hawaiian" experience or a better host than Rick. There are breathtaking views from every room in the home of palm trees, ocean, islands, picturesque row boats and more. Step out into the oceanfront backyard and watch turtles and fish swim right by. Easy access to an incredibly kid-friendly (and not too crowded) beach in both directions. You'll find it hard to leave the house and explore the Island, the property is so wonderful. The house is incredibly well equipped & maintain and had everything we needed, especially enjoyed the local music and lovely gift basket upon arrival. Easily accommodates two families with tons of space and the layout of the rooms gives everyone privacy. The bathrooms have outdoor access which keeps all the sand out of the house. We all loved listening to the ocean and waking up to the beautiful views. Lanikai is sleepy and picturesque. We hiked the Pill Boxes one morning with ease from the house. Quick trips into town daily for fresh fish for the BBQ. Don't miss the Poki at Foodland or the Hawaiian Fare at Times Market on Monday nights - great take-out option (Thank you Rick for the suggestion). We also found Lanikai to be an easy starting point to access other points of interest on the Island (day trip to the North Shore, lunch at Duke's in Waikiki, snorkeling in Hanauma Bay). We really can't recommend Long's at Lanikai enough, we hope to return soon.

My boyfriend and I have made many trips to Oahu, but none of them have been as amazing as this last trip, when we got to stay at the Long’s at Lanikai. The property is absolutely beautiful, it has breathtaking views from every window of the home, the perfect amount of 1920’s charm, and an amazing host. We had the pleasure of listening to the lovely blue waves crash against the seawall throughout the day, and the option to get straight in the water from the steps in the backyard. We spent most of our time in the backyard and hardly left the house after checking-in. The house has everything you can possibly ask for, from the kitchen to the bathrooms. The house is in a great neighborhood, you are able to walk to the neighboring beaches, hiking trails, and parks. You will need a car to get around, but everything is just a short drive away. Grocery stores and yummy restaurants are a 10min drive away. Rick was everything you could want from a host, he was very responsive and answered all of my questions in a timely manner. He had great recommendations for things to do and made us feel like we were staying with a good friend. We are definitely be planning another trip out to the Long's at Lanikai, very soon!

My daughter and I decided to do a memorable vacation just for her and myself. I have to say this place on the Windward side in Lanikai was just that. The view is outstanding and very beautiful. All the bedrooms over looked the ocean and yard. The back of the house is the mountain side. We spent most of our time in the front yard because of its beauty. The back yard has a BQ and lots of tables and chairs for large groups. The sunrises were absolutely beautiful every morning over looking the Mokes. It is equipped with everything you need in a home away from home. It is probably one of the most desirable places I have stayed in. It will be very hard to go to Oahu and stay anywhere else and I go every year. I'm really spoiled now. I love the location and neighborhood. It is so lovely. You really need a car to get around, however, if you want to leave this wonderful place, that is. Grocery stores and restaurants about a 10 min. drive. Lots of good food around. Thank you Rick for making sure our time in the rental was perfect. It was just that. I would highly recommend it to every one looking for a great and relaxing time in the islands. ALOHA

This was the second time we stayed at Long's at Lanikai and plan to return again soon. The home is well stocked with supplies so you can eat in, and all bedrooms face the ocean. The front has amazing views of the Mokolua islands and beach access is only a couple of houses down. You can access the beach from the yard but the steps are a bit slippery. There is a generous lawn for late afternoon sun on the backside of the house, and covered porches on both sides so you can still enjoy the outdoors if it's raining. Both Lanikai beach and Kailua beach are within easy walking distance, although being away from the crowds suits our group best. Long's offers the best of both - away from the crowds, but close enough to access activities and facilities. Rick is amazing and close by in case you need anything.

My friend and I stayed at the Long House for a week. It was incredibly comfortable with every amenity. The kitchen had a vast array of spices and herbs, every appliance and really nice pots and pans. I cook and I have never stayed at a rental that had everything I needed! The grassy lawn was awesome to sit and watch the rowers go by. Access to the beach was a short walk. The view of the mokaluas was breathtaking. Rick was awesome. Nice guy that would do anything to make your stay more comfortable. Clean bathrooms..outdoor showers. We liked it so much we are going again this year! Can't miss with this rental.

My family and I (sister, Dad, and Mum) stayed at the house for about ten days in late May and it has been one of the best holidays I've had, in part due to the location of the house and also the comfortability of the house. The houses location offered plenty activities. I would wake up most mornings and just go down the steps to go swimming or paddle board to the Mokuluas's which are directly opposite the house. Behind the house there are the Lanikai Pillboxes which are a great, short hike which I did numerous times and offered a great form of exercise. The house itself is incomparable to staying in a huge hotel in Waikiki where you would be surrounded by tourists and noise. This house is quiet, offering privacy and the opportunity to just sit and read in peace, and is ideal for families wanting to relax and also get out and explore the island. Overall I'm very happy I was able to stay at the Lanikai house, it provided the best possible place for a relaxing and fun holiday.

Every morning we watched the sun rise over the Mokulua islands off Lanikai - an incomparably beautiful sight. There's nowhere in the world I'd rather be than here at Lanikai, and this is the perfect house for it. If you're looking for granite countertops and the latest Bose speakers, this is not the place for you. But if you want a wonderful 1920s, completely kitted out old-style beach house, don't hesitate for a minute. We loved every minute here. There's no beach in front and getting to the water involves either walking a house away and down the access path or clambering over rocks, but because there's no beach in front of the house, there's almost total privacy and you can get your paddle board into the water and set off for the islands or start snorkelling among schools of fish (and even a sea turtle and seal or two). The garden in the front of the house is beautifully kept and has a view of the mountains, which you also see from the dining room table (from the dining and living rooms you actually see both the sea and the mountains). Great for barbecues and outdoor dining. And lovely little old- fashioned bedrooms with built-in cupboards, each bedroom with a view of the sea. What more could you want? If we could, we'd return every year.
