My family rented “Hanalei ‘ilikea” for one week so that we could come to Kauai and cast the ashes of a family member who had recently died into the ocean. Naturally everyone was emotional and it was hard to think clearly as we planned the trip. Pure Kauai and staff were kind and patient with me as I worked through the process of choosing and booking a house and learning the details of staying there. The beautiful beachfront bungalow was comfortable (a bathroom for each bedroom really helps), and incredibly well supplied (and not just in the kitchen and the beach equipment, but all the way down to a sewing kit in the laundry room).
But the reason I’m glad I booked through Pure Kauai is all the extras they helped with. For example, they filled a shopping grocery list for us so that there was food when we arrived. For the “casting ceremony” day, they arranged a chartered boat, leis for throwing overboard, and a caterer to come to the house and cook us a delicious locally sourced feast that they served gracefully and without a big fuss when we returned from the cruise. (The caterer and assistant were able to let themselves in before we arrived because of their relationship with Pure Kauai, so we weren’t there for all the set-up, etc. That was nice.) PK was also very, very good about communication and responded to all calls and emails promptly.
There is no question I will use Pure Kauai for any future Kauai trips I plan. And I hope there will be many.
