    Hawaii> Kailua Kona
    • 2 bedroom
    • 2 bathroom
    • Sleeps 4

In the historic town of Keauhou, the birthplace of King Kamehameha III and a popular hideaway for native Hawaiian royalty, this charming two-bedroom, two-bathroom condominium unit on the complex’s first floor treats you to unobstructed golf course views and peek-a-boo views of the Pacific Ocean from the lanai. Keauhou Akahi 302 by Gather borders the Kona Country Club golf course and is located in the Keauhou resort area, less than 15 minutes south of Kailua-Kona. This area of the Big Island is full of historic landmarks you’ll want to visit, as well as numerous world-class snorkeling spots where Hawai’i’s colorful marine life is put on full display.

The fully equipped kitchen, with all-white appliances, has everything you need for the days when you choose to prepare your own meals. The large window over the sink provides a view of the greenery beyond and allows natural light to illuminate the granite countertops, bamboo cabinetry, and updated flooring. The kitchen is mainly separated from the rest of the great room, however, a convenient pass-through makes it easy to communicate with friends and family seated at the nearby indoor dining table for four or in the adjacent living room. A cozy loveseat and a pair of sitting chairs with tropical flair face a flatscreen smart TV, which includes basic cable so you won’t miss your favorite show. Large double glass sliders lead out to the lanai, where you can grill, dine, or relax with the fairways of the Kona Country Club and peek-a-boo ocean views serving as your backdrop.

The secondary bedroom, located just off the living room, includes lanai access and shoji doors that can either be left open to create additional living space or closed to operate as a proper bedroom with a queen-size Murphy bed. The primary bedroom includes ample windows, from which you can enjoy the golf course and ocean views, as well as the island breezes blowing through to keep you cool as you sleep on your king-size bed. The primary bedroom includes an ensuite bathroom with a tub/shower combo, and across from the secondary bedroom, there is a guest bathroom with a walk-in shower. The unit also has a laundry room with a full-size washer and dryer so you can keep your packing to a minimum.

The Keauhou Akahi Complex includes a large pool overlooking the ocean, with plenty of poolside seating options. But the surrounding area is so rich with historical landmarks and fantastic snorkeling, that you’ll definitely ...

Absolutely wonderful. However, master bathroom toilet is in need of replacement. Very tiny, but the hall bathroom toilet is just fine. Also, 2 bedrooms is a bit of a stretch. The second bedroom needs to have a partitioned wall closed off from the living room. The property has a fantastic view of the 9th tee box on Kona Country Club. Definitely head to breakfast there if you can. Check in and check out was see less. Minimal request for pre departure clean up. Very easy. Totally would stay again.

Overall impression was that this property was more geared towards couples instead of families. Everything was set up in pairs and the pool rules were not super family friendly. The apartment itself was nice enough, needs a new shower door in the master bathroom, and sprinklers turned on every morning at 6am outside our windows. It was fun to sit on the lanai in the shade and watch the golfers. Apartment had all the things we needed to make our own meals. Overall a good place to kick off visits around the island and see different things.

Overall our experience is good, we mostly were out during the day which is good cause it was hot in the rooms with no a/c, the fans did cool it down a bit, could be just the time of the year for the heat.
