On the beach, in a coveted luxury resort location are the Kahala Beach condos, adjacent to the Kahala Hotel, the only 5-star Hawaiian destination. Secure, with 24/7 guards, keyed building access, and a private underground parking garage. Sited on an idyllic cove beach, surrounded by a grassy park-like setting with swaying palms, the surf is gentle, protected by a reef. The unit itself has just completed a 2021 renovation, with new flooring, paint, fixtures, lighting, and refreshed cabinetry. On the top floor (4th), the entire condo opens to the outside, with a wall of glass leading onto the lanai, which can either be enclosed with glass or open to the outdoors and sea breezes, with views to the mountains and an ocean peek. Lush foliage surrounds the lanai, creating privacy, with shade screens, as well. The 1365 sq. ft. unit features marble counters in both the kitchen and bath, limestone flooring on the lanai, and modern new wood-look tile. The 300 sq. ft. lanai offers an additional sleeping area, with a double bed, and the living room couch also folds out as a bed. The spacious bedroom includes a Teak California king-sized bed, and also opens directly to the lanai. The bathroom features travertine flooring, a soaking tub, an over-sized shower, and separate sink and prep space. The kitchen is fully outfitted to enjoy cooking at home. The grounds are outrageously lush, with koi ponds running through it, leading to the pool and beach. A fully equipped exercise room has ocean and beach views, as does the on-site library. Fine dining or casual fare can be found by walking next door, to the Kahala Hotel and Resort, at Hoku’s, Plumeria Beach House, The Veranda, Seaside Grill, or Arancino’s (reservations ahead are highly recommended). An added attraction to the Kahala Resort is Dolphin Quest, a unique opportunity to interact with dolphins and learn about these friendly and intelligent creatures. https://www.kahalaresort.com/Experiences/Dolphin-Quest.

We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves at this unit. The lanai alone is worth the rental and, given the unusual weather February gave us, we took full advantage of it as our dry outdoor space. The unit is spacious and the photos adequately represent the amount of room two people can have. It is well equipped and the washer / dryer were a godsend. While the unit can easily accommodate 4 people, the fold out couch is best suited for kids rather than another couple. The unit owner is extremely responsive and very easy going. Should we return to Oahu, this place would be high on our list.

We loved our host and his management team. However, the furniture was very uncomfortable. The bed was low rise, and we could not get in and out of it, the couch was super uncomfortable, and the dining room table table was a high top not made for eating. We also bought our own pillows. Make it a bit more comfortable and it’s 5 ⭐️

The beach-front setting, immaculately maintained grounds, and decor were lovely. Our grandchildren appreciated the extensive koi ponds, clean pool, large swimming ring, and gorgeous beach. However, cabinets, blinds, bed linen, plumbing fixtures, shower, dishes, and some appliances need updating. We had to bring our own toaster oven, microwave (couldn’t reach existing one), tea kettle, rice pot, microwaveable dishes, and bed linen. Despite these relatively minor details, we enjoyed our stay very much.

The condo is on Kahala Beach. Photos in listing accurately describe the location. Kitchen is large and well equipped, with many new or nearly new gadgets. Lanai is great. The apartment is spacious and clean. Appliances are older... but mostly work well. The oven only heated on convection bake (as we found out Thanksgiving day). The microwave is mounted very high above stove and will be difficult for short people to use. Bathroom is very nice with a great walk in shower. Bedroom furnishings are just OK. The bedroom does not have a TV (very nice one in living room) the bed is very low and a bit of a challenge to to get in and out of. The bed is comfortable. Lots of closet space but no drawer storage in bedroom.
