Find the perfect home base for your trip to Molokai at this spacious, ground-floor condo with an open floor plan, a private tree-lined patio, and access to a gorgeous outdoor swimming pool, hot tub, and tennis courts. This is a wonderful escape for a group of friends or a family, offering plentiful space to spread out in the open living area - combining the full kitchen, the dining space, and the living room with its flatscreen TV - and outside on the garden patio. A washer/dryer, cable service, and free WiFi are provided as well. You'll be within walking distance of beautiful beaches, and you'll come home to your very own hammock on the shaded patio and on-site amenities that include the pool, the hot tub, two tennis courts, gas grills, lounge chairs and umbrellas, and a lending library.

    What's nearby:
Ke Nani Kai is a lovely property located on the west side of the island of Molokai, with grounds that include a large outdoor swimming pool, a hot tub, two tennis courts, gas grills, lounge chairs for sunbathing, and tables for al fresco meals. It's about a five-minute walk down an access road to Kepuhi Beach, which is great for surfing in the winter months, ideal for swimming and snorkeling come summer, and the site of many paddle races to Oahu. You'll also be a short stroll across the old golf course from Papohaku Beach, one of the longest beaches in the state of Hawaii with waters that are rough in the winter but calmer for ocean swimming in summer. Ke Nani Kai is a half-mile stroll from Make Horse and its many tidepools, six miles northwest of the town of Maunaloa (the only town on the west end), and 19 miles west of Kaunakakai, where most grocery stores, art/gift shops, mini markets, restaurants, and equipment rentals are located.

This arid west side of Molokai, just 12 miles from the airport, is known for having less rain than the east side of the island. And the island-wide evening quiet hours make Molokai perfect for romance, families, solitude, and experiencing a glimpse of the real Hawaii away from the tourist crowds.

    Things to know:
Free WiFi (but please note that WiFi can be spotty)

There are several issues with this condo. The garbage disposal didn’t work but they did repair that. The hot water heater had to be reset daily to get hot water. We figured out how to do that. Some other sort of minor things like no dish drainer and only 2 dish towels in the kitchen., electric can opener is dead and the manual one requires some strength and agility. Front screen door wouldn’t lock on the dead bolt but the other lock worked, one sliding glass door is almost impossible to open and the screen doors are wonky. Light over the shower in the second bath was out , not such a big deal but would have been nice to see a little better. The cushions on the couch REALLY need to be cleaned or replaced and the GFI outlet in the primary bathroom doesn’t work. Probably needs to be replaced. The washing machine has a bearing going out and screams at you pretty much the whole time. The really big deals besides the water heater are: a rat running out of the owners storage closet and into the bathroom,, and a water leak running out of the primary bathroom wall. It only happened once while we were there but you could see it has happened before. I called about that but no response. All of that aside it was a nice setting and the pool is very nice. Walking to the beach is possible and it is quiet. I liked the area but this condo needs some TLC and updating.

Beds are VERY uncomfortable. My wife spent most nights sleeping on the couch. Dining room chairs are also uncomfortable. There are a lot of minor maintenance issues throughout. We got locked out because the security door isn’t keyed to the front door key we were given. Had to wait with groceries for someone to come unlock the door - over an hour. Little issues like the pot holders were so cheap you couldn’t hold anything longer than a second without burning yourself. It’s a large apartment style condo with two bathrooms and a nice patio, but the owners need to put some money into replacing furniture and various other item’s throughout along with minor repairs.

The condo was clean, it is dated and the furniture while comfortable could use some maintenance. A drawer it the kitchen for the cutlery was falling apart. The pool area was lovely as well as the grounds. I found it very comfortable and would stay here again despite it needing work.

Check in was prompt and smooth - our accommodations were cheery and very comfortable. We especially enjoyed the porch, the kitchen was fully stocked and we prepared numerous meals during our stay. The location was remarkably close to the beach and the pool and we enjoyed all the walking paths throughout. We fell in love with Molokai.

We own a condo in another complex across the road and have rented many times at Ka Nani Kai for when family members come to visit us. This unit is well placed for a very short walk to the pool and recreation facilities, especially with little kids. It is not too far a walk to the beach. The Ka Nani Kai complex is very nice with a great pool/hot tub/lounging/BBQ area next to the tennis courts and club house. While the general surface cleaning of the condo was decent, the condo itself is well worn and the carpets are well past needing to be replaced. It was the least kept unit we have ever rented at Ka Nani Kai and we will not rent this particular unit again.

Upon arrival, we were notified of a lock box code to retrieve the key. The lockbox was located inside a locked screen door that the on-site staff did not have a key too. Went through a lot of stress just to enter the condo, but once inside it was good. The condo was furnished with everything you may need. There’s a couple broken kitchen drawers but you have to lift and shimmy to open. It was a beautiful, enjoyable stay. The pool is conveniently located near this unit. Although there were some hiccups the overall stay was great.
