Just spent two weeks in paradise. This is a fabulous rental. Kitchen well stocked with spices and appliances, including a rice maker! Bed super comfortable and the pillows the best. I want them for my house! We have stayed at various units at the Hale Kai over the past 10 years and this one was the best.
The property was amazing and decorated with feel of Aloha. Perfect location within walking distance to everything you’d want. All the other guests/residence are all very friendly and fun.
This was our first trip to Hawaii. The location was phenomenal. We enjoyed our trip and would stay again if we were to go back to Maui. The condo was well stocked with everything we needed. I had reahced out to owners a few times with several questions before our trip and every time my questions were answered very promptly. I highly recommend this condo for anyone wanting to stay on the west side of Maui.
We loved this property. Sandwiched between the ritzy tourist areas of Kaanapali and Kapalua, this little condo in Hononkwai was just what we were looking for. It is in an older, interesting neighborhood right on the water with an ocean park right next door. The unit is in a 1980’s era, two story condo building, but the unit is completely redone and had everything we needed. We watched whales from our patio and sea turtles swam right onto our beach. The pool is great. The hosts are responsive if you have issues. Easy parking. Close to the road so it is a little on the noisy side. We would definitely come back.
Absolutely love this unit. Great location in the complex. We had this one and our adult children & grandchildren were in another unit nearby and it worked out perfectly. Nice open layout. The only thing this unit is missing is an oven. Beautiful views. Right on the beach
I cannot say enough good things about this condo. It's location is the BEST in Maui. I could be bias as we haven't stayed anywhere else but I don't think we ever will. We checked out the high priced resorts and we knew we got the better deal.
While there are no private beaches in Maui, our back yard felt exclusively yards. Often we were the only ones out there, or shared with a fun of the other condo families. It was perfect.
The overlooking pool chairs were amazing for viewing turtles and I'd imagine whales if you travel during the right time. The pool was great to chill in when the beach seemed too much to do (haha).
Easy parking. Easy walk to our favorite Maui farmers market! Avocado sandwich! And so much more.
The condo was pristine and clean. Very well organized for visitors to feel at home. Often the clutter while traveling overwhelms me but these owners thought of everything! There were so many empty baskets, decorative bowls and plates throughout to help stay cleaned and organized. The kitchen was well stocked. Cards to play, chairs to sit, boogie boards. Everything was thought out. I may be the only one to appreciate the organization of this condo but I APPRECIATE IT!
I almost didn't want to review this so I can keep it to myself. But, I guess I'll share! MAHALO and AHOLA till next time! AND THERE WILL BE A NEXT TIME!

Forgive any perception of hyperbole: this may be the best lodging value on the island. The complex is well kept and the pool water is crystal clear. Park a few paces from your clean and well-sized condo, feel the cool, gentle trade winds, hear the waves hitting the reef and shore, and adore the view of pool and beach from the patio or the living room. Chat up the neighbors, residents or regulars, for island scoop and hidden gems. See the sunset over Lanai and watch those same neighbors serenade the end of the day (or beginning of the night) with the Blowing of the Pu (conch-like shell). All living areas are comfy. Completely satisfied, with expectations exceeded.
Overall this place was great, very clean unit and no issues at all with the check in or out process. Pool area is wonderful overlooking the ocean. Walking distance to lots of locations to eat! Only negative was our extremely loud neighbours, unfortunately we could hear everything through our walls, so we got woken up many times :( Would go back though! As the neighbours were only a temp rental also.
As described in previous reviews, this location is perfect to enjoy the whole Maui experience! The condo itself is beautiful and a good size. The pool and private beach are perfect to relax by after a busy day exploring the island. The Farmers Market across the street only had coffee, but the Cruzin Cafe about a 5 min walk past it was a great quick-and-easy breakfast spot.
I truly wish I could give this place a 5 star review. Unfortunately we arrived late on Saturday night after waiting hours to pick up our rental car, and we walked into a dirty condo. No cleaning service had prepared it for our stay. There were dirty linens on the bed, wet towels on the floor, and the floors were messy. I tried called and texting the hosts to help me find clean linens so we could at least sleep, but because it was so late we did not get an answer. The next day they did rectify the situation and were genuine in their apology, which is the reason why they did not get a lower rating from us.
The condo was lovely in every way. We loved that we could look out the living room to the ocean. We have stayed in other units on this property, but so far liked this one the best. We hope to come back again and again. Having morning coffee at the beach and watching the turtles swim was indeed a beautiful escape.

Our stay at Hale Kai was everything we’d hoped for and more. This sweet condo was immaculate, had all the amenities, and an incredible view of the ocean. We spent early evenings on the back patio watching the waves crash and beautiful sunsets. Guests can access the water and swim and snorkel right off the property. The pool was so refreshing after an afternoon in the sun. At night we fell asleep to the sound of the waves. The location is perfect with easy access to area beaches, within walking distance of shopping, restaurants, and snorkel/beach rentals. If we ever make it back to Maui, we know where we will stay!
We absolutely loved our stay here. Sunsets were magnificent! I saw an eel one day snorkeling right in front and even a turtle! Every early morning we’d walk along the beach and it was so peaceful. The pool is sparkling clean and so refreshing. We’d walk to the Farmers Market for a healthy breakfast and delicious cold lattes! Since coming back home we’ve made snorkeling a twice a week hobby but it is not quite the same as the ocean is clearer and there are so many colorful fish to see in Hawaii!! 🌞🌈🌦🌊🌺 🏊♀️
We had to make a last minute change to our travel plans and the host (John) helped us find a way to make it work! When we arrived the property was clean and we had an amazing time. Would stay here again!

This place is magical! There’s something about the Hale Kai that can’t be beat. Amazing location. Phenomenal views, the friendliest people and the most serene setting.

The condo was wonderful, and the hosts were great. This is a great place to stay with families or children because there is a lot of activity at the pool. The beachfront access is great and made snorkeling easy! It was a very comfortable place to stay.

They have their own beach with REALLY REALLY REALLY good snorkeling. I swam with multiple turtles.
I had a motorcycle rental and felt very safe parking it here.

Pool and ocean just steps from the condo. Loved snorkeling with turtles and fish, pool time and sleeping with the sounds of the waves.
The small condo community was lovely from young couples to families to retirees. We chatted with them poolside, had mangos delivered to our door one day, and the nightly conch shell blowing at sunset.
Cancelled a couple of dinner resevations as dining on the patio at sunset with provisions from the fish market a few blocks away were amazing.
Would love to plan another trip and bring kids and grands
The condo is newly updated and very nice the couch and bed were very comfortable there is a new high top patio table that makes eating dinner while watching the ocean and sunset magical!
