Pu'u O Hoku offers a unique getaway for travelers seeking a rustic retreat. You can hike, swim, stargaze, surf, and see a working ranch in action. Pu'u O Hoku is one of the few places in the islands where you can feel Hawaii as it once was — where the only sounds are the wind and the roar of the ocean, and the only lights are the stars.

On the hill above the bustle of the ranch, surrounded by tropical gardens, with panoramic windows offering views over the bluffs to the ocean, the Sunrise Cottage is perfect for romantic getaways or small groups. Master bedroom with a queen bed, second bedroom with two twins, spacious living and dining room, fully-equipped kitchen, two bathrooms, and a shaded lanai.

The Sunrise cottage was built in the 1930s in classic Hawaiian ranch style, furnished with Balinese and Hawaiian wood and textiles. The cottage is off the grid and runs on renewable energy, the water onsite is from our well.

The Sunrise cottage is just a short drive from the black-sand beaches of Halawa Valley.

Our cottages do not have wifi, allowing guests to truly unwind and get closer to the spectacular nature around them. There is a wifi hotspot for use near the ranch office, but usually our guests tell us that being disconnected is one of their favorite parts of being at Pu'u O Hoku.

We can also deliver fresh biodynamic and organic produce as well as fresh beef and venison to your cottage for you to cook during your stay! ...

This is an amazing and very private location unlike many places tourists see in Hawai’i. The cabin was stylishly decorated, comfortable and well stocked with pots/pans and dishes. We especially liked hiking on the property where there were beautiful views and nobody else around. I would not recommend getting to the cabin after dark on your first day because the road there is winding and narrow. As others have mentioned, bring all your food supplies because you are far from any grocery stores.

Stunning property for running, hiking, and exploring East Molokai. We loved being here in the woods and exploring the farm and Halawa Valley. Can’t wait to return.

We were thrilled with our stay at Puu O Hoku Ranch s Sunrise Cottage, where the sun truly does rise. It is a special place. There were some setbacks d/t lack of central coordination from staff, whom by themselves were very friendly, fun and interesting gals. Communication is complicated by spotyy, at best, cell phone communication. My advice would be to establish primary contact with the hospitality manager from the start which we never had..

We had a peaceful stay in this spacious, beautiful cottage. Sunrises, hikes and swims. Even in the rain, it was truly paradise. And the fresh veggies and fruit were a sweet gift even though I didn’t order them in time. Venison from the store was fantastic too. THANK YOU!
